Chapter 902: The Realm of Ice Elves (1)

Its body was sleek yet muscular, covered in scales that glimmered like polished gemstones under the faint, ethereal light of the Spirit World. Along its serpentine neck and spine ran a ridge of spiked plates, which refracted light into radiant halos with every movement. The beast’s tail was long and whip-like, ending in a cluster of luminous, star-shaped growths that trailed streaks of energy as it flew.

Its head was regal and angular, crowned with curling horns that resembled jagged icicles, gleaming with frost. The creature’s eyes, large and glowing with a pale violet light, exuded both intelligence and an untamed ferocity. As it let out a resonant cry, the sound reverberated through the world like a symphony of thunder and wind, filling the group with a mixture of awe and reverence.

The beast circled high above the tower for a moment, its sheer presence commanding the attention of all who gazed upon it. It moved with an effortless grace, defying the laws of physics, leaving trails of shimmering energy in its wake. Each flap of its enormous wings seemed to stir the very air of the Spirit World, resonating with the primal magic that surrounded them.

As it ascended higher into the sky, the group stood rooted in place, their eyes following its majestic form. Each of them took a deep, instinctive breath, as though the very essence of the Spirit World was being drawn into their lungs, grounding them to this ethereal realm.

Orion stood quietly for a moment, his gaze fixed on the horizon. "We resonate with this place now," he murmured. "More than the overworld."

The group stood at the edge of the icy cliff, their breaths visible in the freezing air as they stared out across the expanse. The sheer drop stretched far and wide, with jagged edges of ice reflecting the faint glow of the Spirit World’s light. On the other side of the chasm, miles away, the icy terrain continued uninterrupted, but between them yawned a massive canyon that seemed to devour all sound, save for the relentless howl of the wind.

Aisa shivered, wrapping her arms tightly around herself. "That’s... quite the jump."

Cy crouched near the edge, peering into the abyss below. "I don’t think we’re alone down there. If this ice giant exists, I’d bet it’s somewhere in that canyon."

"Great," Bella muttered, her fiery demeanor dimmed by the cold. "As if it’s not freezing enough up here."

Orion remained silent for a moment, studying the situation. His golden eyes glinted as he measured the distance and the challenge. "Even if some of us can fly across, carrying others won’t work if we’re ambushed mid-air. We need to know what’s down there before committing to anything."

Findir leaned on his bow, his expression calm despite the chill. "So, we’re jumping in?"

Orion nodded. "We are. If the ice giant is down there, better to face it head-on than get blindsided trying to cross."

After a few minutes of deliberation, they all agreed. One by one, they stepped off the cliff, surrendering themselves to the powerful updraft. The winds cushioned their fall, carrying them down with an almost dreamlike slowness. The sensation was surreal; it felt less like falling and more like drifting through an endless winter sky. But the bitter cold gnawed at them with increasing intensity as they descended, seeping through their clothes and biting at their skin.

"This wind isn’t doing much to help," Luna said through chattering teeth, her voice strained. She clutched a glowing charm around her neck, trying to draw warmth from it.

Cy’s teeth clattered as he wrapped his scarf tighter around his face. "I think we’re gonna freeze solid before we even hit the bottom."

The descent seemed to stretch on forever, the group buffeted by the icy gusts. The canyon walls were lined with crystalline formations that refracted light in strange and beautiful patterns, but the stunning view offered little comfort against the biting cold. Every breath was a struggle, and frost began forming on their eyelashes and clothing.

Orion, leading the group, clenched his fists to keep his circulation going. "Stay close. We’ll land soon enough."

Despite the glacial pace, they pressed on, enduring the cold and keeping their eyes peeled for any sign of movement in the icy void below. The wind carried faint, ominous echoes—whether the groans of the ice or something far more alive, they couldn’t yet tell.

As Orion and his party descended slowly into the canyon, the freezing winds bit deep into their skin. The vast, icy expanse below revealed itself gradually. Finally, they reached the bottom—a sprawling city of ice and snow, illuminated by an ethereal glow that reflected off its towering crystalline spires. The buildings were made entirely of intricately carved ice, their surfaces shimmering with an otherworldly light. Bridges of frost stretched between structures, and faint traces of movement were visible in the misty streets.

The inhabitants of this city, the ice elves, soon came into view. They were tall and eerily beautiful, their pale blue skin seeming to radiate a cold mist. Their long, silvery-white hair floated gently as if caught in a perpetual breeze, and their eyes glowed an icy blue that pierced through the haze. They wore armor crafted from frost itself, jagged and ornate, and carried weapons that seemed to hum with frozen power—spears of ice, bows strung with threads of frost, and daggers glistening with a frozen edge.

As the group landed softly on the frosted streets, there was no welcome—only hostility. The ice elves emerged from the mist, their expressions cold and calculating. Without a word, they launched into a ferocious attack.

Orion was the first to act, stepping forward with his commanding presence. His voice boomed with the power of his War Cry, sending a ripple of intimidating energy that briefly stalled the elves’ charge. "Form up! Bella, defensive fire! Luna, illusions—confuse them! Everyone else, stay mobile!"

Bella immediately conjured a Flame Shield, its roaring heat pushing back the cold that seemed to sap their strength. The ice elves hissed and recoiled at the fire’s light, but only briefly before they pressed forward.

Findir darted into the fray, activating Haste and Void Dagger Coating. He disappeared into the shadows, reappearing behind an ice elf to drive his glowing dagger into its side. The elf turned with shocking speed, countering with an icy blade, but Findir twisted, narrowly evading the strike. His Wind Manipulation sent a burst of air to unbalance his foe, and he followed up with a quick slash that forced the elf back.

Meanwhile, Cy charged forward, his Abyssal Shield glowing darkly as it absorbed the impact of an elf’s icy spear thrust. With a roar, he countered with Wave of Darkness, sending a rippling shadow through the enemy ranks, scattering them momentarily. He then spun his spear with precision, landing a heavy blow to an elf’s chest and knocking it into a nearby wall.

Aisa moved with ghostly precision, her Ghost Step making her appear almost ethereal. She closed in on a pair of ice elves, dodging their attacks with fluid grace. Her Silent Blade struck out, one dagger slashing through an elf’s weapon arm while the other plunged into its chest. She vanished into the mist before the second elf could retaliate, only to reappear behind it, delivering a devastating strike.

Luna stood back, her Mirror Images creating a kaleidoscope of duplicates that confused the attacking elves. She cast Nightmare Projection, summoning haunting visions that caused several elves to falter, their movements erratic as they battled invisible horrors. "Keep them guessing!" she called, weaving an Illusory Wall to momentarily block reinforcements.

Orion stayed at the center, directing the flow of battle. He activated Blood Manipulation, summoning crimson tendrils that lashed out like whips, pulling elves off balance and exposing them to his team’s attacks. When an elf charged at him, he countered with a brutal strike of his sword, the sheer force splitting the icy weapon in two. His Battlefield Mastery allowed him to anticipate the elves’ tactics, shouting warnings and instructions to his team. "Bella, right flank! Cy, push forward with me!"

Bella, using her Web of the Wony’s Burning Heart, unleashed a fiery net that trapped several elves, the heat melting their icy weapons. She followed up with a massive Fireball, the explosion scattering shards of ice and snow.

The ice elves were relentless. For every one they struck down, another seemed to emerge from the mist. They attacked in coordinated waves, their movements sharp and precise.

"Luna! Findir! I need disruption on the left!" Orion shouted as three elves flanked their position. Luna cast Mind Fog, enveloping the area in a haze that dulled the elves’ senses, while Findir struck swiftly from the shadows, taking advantage of their confusion to land precise, crippling strikes.

Cy roared as an ice elf slammed into his shield with a frost-coated hammer, the impact sending a shockwave through the air. Gritting his teeth, he countered with a surge of strength, driving his spear through the elf’s armor. A second elf leapt at him, but Bella’s Summon: Lesser Fire Spirits intercepted it, the fiery creatures engulfing the attacker in flames.
