Chapter 1036: Chapter 450: Epic Victory
Just as he hoped, Kemler heard the sound of hooves behind him. The Undead Grand Mage was initially panic-stricken but upon seeing Mathew Bade and over two thousand Undead Knights, he breathed a sigh of relief, "Finally, they’re here."
Before victory’s joy could envelop the Undead Grand Mage’s thoughts, his smile gradually faded from his face.
This large group of Undead Knights did not join the battle but instead quickly ran away. Mathew Bade coldly snorted at Kemler from a distance, the Duke of Musillon gave a thumbs up, then pointed it downward, and without looking back, led his entire force away.
"?"
"???"
"WTF?"
It took Kemler a full minute to understand what exactly had happened. His loud curses couldn’t bring back Mathew Bade and his Undead Knight army.
"I’ve been betrayed!!!" Kemler’s unwilling roar echoed through the sky.
The reinforcements on the left wing gradually approached, and the first to charge towards Kemler’s location was a group of Dwarfs.
"Charge!!!"
"For Glarni, for Eight Peaks Mountain!"
"For the Angland Clan!"
Led by King Belgar of Eight Peaks, this group of Dwarfs moved their short legs at full speed, slowly advancing towards the central army.
"For Aisloron!"
"For the Lady! For Brittania!"
"For Laine Macado!"
Then, humans and Wood Elves from the left wing joined in after catching their breath. They advanced rapidly, soon overtaking the Dwarfs and leaving them far behind. Knights with broken armors and tattered surcoats, full of stains, also launched an assault on Kemler’s flank. All the remaining knights capable of fighting rejoined the battle.
Laine led the charge, the wrath of the Lake Fairy Chosen Champion was never-ending. The Goddess of Revenge in his hand exuded a terrifying aura that made Kemler uneasy. The platinum flames melted the bodies of the Undead, and the blade of the Goddess of Revenge cut through all enemies trying to obstruct him. The sword cleaved through the flesh of the dead, evaporating foes into clouds of ash.
Kemler was still trying to organize an army to withstand the advance of Laine and others when the shouting behind him erupted: "Undead scum, face me, the descendant of Balduin, Duke Theodoric of Borelion!"
The Undead Grand Mage then noticed that Theodoric and his two hundred knights had already fought their way to his side. Duke Theodoric roared, forcefully breaking through the defenses of the Undead Chaos Chosen Warriors. His knights could not shake the spear formation of the Undead Chaos Chosen Warriors, and many knights were pulled down from their horses and chopped into pieces, littering the ground with flesh and innards.
However, the Duke himself feared not these mighty foes. He raised his axe, roaring oaths of atonement, then began his slaughter. His warhorse charged into the ranks of the Undead like a sharp spear, and his axe, shining like a beacon, continuously struck down the heads of Undead: "Face me! Kemler!"
A cry of sorrow came from the sky, and the last Celestial Ghost and Fear Beast fell from the heavens. The thirty-odd Pegasus Knights left shouted victory and prepared for their final dive attack.
With Kaled leading the right-wing knight army, they were ready to charge at Kemler with a tempest-like assault.
The central army led by Francois was greatly boosted in morale, as the Duke of Winford smirked brutally and mounted his horse, prepared to settle all scores with Kemler.
The sight of defeat nearly drove Kemler insane, but he knew that he must stop Theodoric’s attack in front of him!
"Curse of Time!" The black mist had become thin. Kemler squeezed out his last bit of mana, releasing an Undead Magic in hopes of defeating Theodoric.
However, the giant axe in Theodoric’s hand was not of ordinary make. It was a holy artifact of the first Duke of Borelion, Balduin, and the blessings from the Lady of the Lake glowed continuously, dispersing Kemler’s magic. Thus, the Duke of Borelion struck with his axe, and the shocked Kemler quickly raised his Chaos Tomb Digger Sword to block but was directly knocked out of the black carriage by Theodoric, crashing to the ground.
"Ooooh!" Theodoric felt unparalleled joy for his achievement, bursting out with a shout of happiness. He knew his Lady was watching his battle. The Duke gripped his giant axe with both hands, intending to deliver a fatal blow to Kemler.
"Duke! Watch your back!" shouted a knight of Borelion.
Hearing the warning, Theodoric felt a profound sense of danger. The Duke barely managed to turn and block when a black giant axe attacked him from behind, and Theodoric screamed as he was knocked off his horse.
A terrifying wound marred his chest, as the injured Geer emerged, his power greatly diminished after being gravely injured by Laine. Otherwise, this strike would have been enough to kill Theodoric!
The Duke of Borelion’s arm broke on the spot, and he was rescued by his knights, fleeing the battlefield.
Geer had been summoned by Kemler again, but it was to no avail, as the defenders from three directions launched a final assault on Kemler. The Undead rapidly collapsed, and in the blink of an eye, Laine, Francois, and Kaled were all nearing Kemler’s last line of defense. The Ancient Tomb Legion had only four thousand left.
The situation was irreparable. The Undead Grand Mage covered in dust roared to signal Geer to lead the remaining one hundred Undead Chaos Chosen Warriors to halt the knights’ advance, then attempted to cast spells to flee, covered by many Undead.
As long as he lives, there will be a chance for a comeback!
He was so close to success!
Amidst the chaotic warfare, with no order, brutal fighting prevented the newly appointed Long Halberd Soldier Captain Remon from finding his soldiers. He could only charge forward desperately with a few subordinates.
During a battle break, he found himself joined by the Charon Forest Patrol Battalion. Sergeant Bertrand, clad in green with a tricorn hat, was fighting with a scimitar. Seeing Remon fighting his way here, Bertrand shouted happily, "Remon, my boy, we’ve met again!"
With that, Bertrand slashed down a zombie.
Remon was about to say something when, amidst the chaos, he saw a man with a pointed Wizard Hat and black human-skin robes casting spells—the Undead Mage.
The young Long Halberd Soldier’s mouth opened slightly; he suddenly realized who it might be and pointed at the Undead Mage, shouting to Bertrand, "That is Kemler!"
Three seconds later, an expression of ecstatic joy appeared on Bertrand’s face; the chance for great accomplishments was now!
This sergeant, the captain of the Charon Forest Patrol Battalion, immediately reached for his quiver.
He touched a black arrow, his very last one. The three black arrows were powerful weapons crafted from the Dragon Heart of a slain Sub-dragon!
Bending the bow, nocking the arrow, and shooting in one swift motion.
The black arrow flew like a whirlwind from Bertrand’s great bow, tracing an enchanting arc in the sky, directly aiming for Kemler.
At this time, Kemler was still casting a spell. He ordered Geer to cover him, intending to teleport away!
Halfway through his spell, the Undead Grand Mage felt a chill in his chest.
"Hmm?"
His spell was interrupted. Kemler looked vacantly at the black arrow sticking out of his chest, with a trickle of black blood at the corner of his mouth, "No, no... this can’t be... mere mortal... mere mortals’ arrows actually..."
"Ugh!" Kemler staggered backward; the Undead Grand Mage nearly sat on the ground. One hand clutched his chest, the other used the Chaos Tomb Digger Sword to brace himself on the ground. Kemler couldn’t believe how a mere mortal’s arrow could pierce him, a man cloaked in Undead Magic, "How is this possible?!"
But with his rapidly declining magic power and gradually fading strength, Kemler realized he was indeed gravely wounded by a mortal. The Undead Grand Mage could only instinctively call to his servant Geer for help, "Quick, get me to the black carriage, I must get away!"
However, Kemler’s dwindling strength caused a change in Geer. The Undead Four Gods Champion suddenly raised his black jagged giant axe in the face of his master’s plea for help.
"Snap~" Blood splattered, head flew.
"I remember now, you were never my master, never."
