Chapter 1029: Chapter 448: Battle of La-Mesnil Abbey (Part 2)

The first to face the impact was the left-wing army led by Laine. At the forefront, the long halberdiers and Eternal Guards began engaging the Skeleton Legion, followed by swarms of Desperadoes, Beastmen, and Giant Demons, who frantically assaulted the left-wing lines.

The soldiers formed tight groups of sixteen, with sharp spear tips aimed at the enemy. They formed compact formations, using flesh and blood to resist the tide-like attack of the Undead.

Skeleton Warriors could easily be cut down, yet the Desolate Tomb Guards smashed through the makeshift defensive structures. Unsteady fences were easily hacked apart by these heavy armor warriors, and the battlefield was filled with blood and chaos, human screams, and shattered limbs flying through the air. The Peasant Infantry Corp from the Count Glamorgan’s domain rapidly collapsed; many infantry trembled as if sick, and at the initial engagement, they were harvested like hay by the Desolate Grave Guard Legion.

The Desolate Grave Guard army’s advance plunged deep into the left-wing army lines. They were like a tide of destruction, slaughtering all enemies that opposed them, with rusty cleavers, long halberds, and axes emotionlessly reaping lives.

Until they encountered an obstacle. Rows of Dwarfs were hidden behind the Peasant Infantry Corps. They had already raised their war axes, ready to confront the enemy.

Among them were the Dwarf Warriors of the Angland Clan, the most formidable being the Dwarf Iron-Breaker Warriors of the "North Star Axe Corps," the Dwarf Iron Hammer Warriors of the "Steel Brotherhood," and the Long-bearded Veterans of the "Will of King Ruan." Under their command, the Dwarfs threw their hand grenades and detonators at the Undead trash.

"Boom~ Boom Boom~" The Desolate Grave Guard Legion’s advance was halted. An influx of Dwarf Warriors stabilized the situation, and those long-bearded Dwarfs cursed endlessly at the filth of the Undead while shouting Grimnir’s name, vowing to fight to the death.

"Hey! Undead trash! Come on! The undisputed King Belgar of Eight Peaks is here! May the Ancestors protect us!" Belgar had already arrived on the frontline, the Dwarf King raising his Iron Hammer. The rune stone beneath his feet glowed brightly, and the Ancestral Soul of the Angland Clan responded to Belgar’s call. All the Dwarf Warriors received unparalleled encouragement, shouting as they joined the battlefield.

On the other side, the Eternal Guards and long halberdiers gathered together. These Eternal Guards, holding giant shields, repelled the Undead’s charge. They were well-trained and, as part of the Personal Guard of the Wood Elf Queen Airel, vowed never to retreat regardless of the situation. Alaros also joined the battlefield, the world-renowned Wood Elf Hero taking down one Desolate Tomb Guard with each arrow, pledging to fight for the protection of the forest.

The brutal battlefield had become a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.

On the flank, in the fields outside the monastery, the Ugoer Bow Cavalry from Kislev galloped across the plains. Behind them were many pursuing Undead Knights and Chaos Mutants. The Ugoer Bow Cavalry constantly employed their horse archery skills honed since birth, drawing the attention of many Undead Armies, including mercenaries. These riders from the wasteland flipped off their horses under the command of their leader, "Terrible Ivan": "Counterattack!"

A volley of arrows reaped the pursuing group closest to them, but also drew the enemy’s attention. A terrifying beam shot from afar, instantly engulfing the figures of twenty Ugoer Bow Cavalry, leaving only a pile of bones after the explosion.

Subsequently, two continuous beams of magic were released from Kemler’s direction, forcing Ugoer Bow Cavalry leader Ivan to shout piercingly: "Scatter!"

The Ugoer Bow Cavalry swiftly scattered, distancing from the battlefield and regrouping.

The retreat of the Bow Cavalry greatly relieved the pressure on the Undead flank. Guer stood on a rock, raising his war axe: "Continue the attack!" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

An ocean of Undead continued the assault while the towering Giant Demons charged into the ranks of the Eternal Guards, their wolf fang clubs easily dispatching an Elf with a single swing. The sky was thick with arrow rain as Dwarf Rangers shot continuously. The Giant Demon soon fell with a wail, as Sergeant Deni from Bastogne led the Longbowmen in shooting, attacking the distant Undead Army reinforcements to prevent them from joining the fray.

No use; the Undead felt no pain. Their terrifying screams announced that the dead would eventually rule the world, and the brave soldiers retorted with loud curses.

"Move closer... a little closer... good, that’s it!" The Chief Engineer of the Angland Clan, Harharaver the Gold Digger, had already determined the optimal firing distance with the help of Dwarf Engineers: "Open fire!"

Popping sounds erupted on the high walls of the monastery as Dwarf Thunderclap Musketeers’ volleys shredded the bandits, Beastmen, Chaos Mutants, and many creatures at the forefront into sieves. A line of cannons and organ cannons on the city walls fired continuously, the incoming cannonballs sweeping across the gloomy night sky, ravaging all dense spots of the Undead Army. The power of gunpowder and explosions sent Kemler’s proud legion flying, with every crater filled with shattered Undead.

Divinely blessed catapults hurled giant stones blessed by Lake God Prophet, while Lake Goddess Saintess Asmer Beaumont chanted Earth Spirit Awakening. Sturdy forest arms extended from the ground to shred the fragile Undead into pieces. Powerful Regeneration Techniques healed the human soldiers’ wounds, though it was but a drop in the bucket.
