Chapter 130: Chapter 130
She looked up at Kaia. "You know him?"
Kaia shook her head. "I don’t! But Miss Rina briefed me beforehand. She said Mr. Bennett was staying next door, and... well, she was worried you two might argue, so she told me to report back if anything happened."
Hearing this, Elise pursed her lips. "There’s no need for that. We’re currently in our divorce cooling-off period, and since I’m pregnant, the most we’ll do is exchange a few sharp words. Still, if he comes by again or sends anything else over, decline it on my behalf."
"Oh, okay, got it," Kaia said, nibbling on her chopsticks while closely reading Elise’s expression.
Elise kept her head down, quietly sipping her porridge, appearing largely unfazed.
Recalling Dylan’s strikingly handsome face, Kaia couldn’t help but sigh wistfully. "Elise, leaving feelings aside, just purely looking at visuals, I genuinely think the two of you are a match made in heaven!"
Elise froze mid-bite and looked up. "Stop daydreaming. If you want to ship couples, the entertainment industry has plenty of them."
"No, that’s not what I mean!" Kaia protested. "I mean, with genes like Mr. Bennett’s, having this baby is definitely a win for you. Good-looking people like you two should contribute more to society—have a few more beautiful babies for the public good!"
Elise was speechless. She wondered if the younger generation’s logic was always this bizarre.
"To a mother, a child’s health and safety are all that matter," Elise said flatly. "I hold no expectations regarding their looks or gender."
"No expectations? Come on!" Kaia exclaimed. "With how the two of you look, even if you gave birth with your eyes closed, your kid would easily outshine eighty percent of the population!"
"Alright, let’s just eat." Out of options against Kaia’s train of thought, Elise dropped the subject, reluctant to bring up Dylan again.
Kaia nodded and dutifully went back to her food.
Because the spread was so lavish, the two women took over an hour to finish breakfast. Kaia was quite the chatterbox, but knowing Elise wanted to avoid the topic of Dylan, she tactfully steered the conversation toward trivial matters. As long as his name wasn’t mentioned, Elise remained in a relatively good mood.
However, considering the unexpected incident from the day before, she had formed a new plan.

After breakfast, she gave Mrs. Shaw a call.
She had checked the news; the typhoon hadn’t made landfall in Rainport. It proved to be a considerable storm, suddenly veering off in the middle of the night two days ago to head straight toward Japan instead. It had been a false alarm, and Rainport had been spared.
After confirming with Mrs. Shaw that Rainport was unaffected, Elise finally let out a sigh of relief.
Mrs. Shaw asked when she would be returning.
After a moment’s thought, Elise said, "If you still have rooms available, I’d like to head back today."
Mrs. Shaw chuckled. "Don’t worry, I’ve kept your room reserved this whole time. Come on back!"
A faint smile touched Elise’s lips. "Alright."
After hanging up, Elise called Rina. Knowing her sister’s thoughts, Rina immediately booked a flight for her—a 2:00 PM departure.
They needed to leave for the airport now.
Elise quickly packed her luggage, and Kaia offered to see her off. As the two stepped out of the suite, the first thing Elise saw was Sam waiting by the elevators.
Her brows knit together, her expression instantly turning cold. She walked up to him and asked sharply, "Did Dylan send you to stop me?"
Sam kept his eyes lowered, his posture respectful. "Madam, you misunderstand. I am merely under orders to escort you safely to the airport."
At that, her frown deepened. The fact that Dylan knew her every move made her feel constantly watched. It seemed that as long as she remained in the country, she could never escape his grasp, no matter where she went.
Irritated, Elise naturally couldn’t muster any warmth toward Sam. Yet she also knew he was only following orders; the root of the problem was entirely Dylan.
But right now, she lacked the energy to even fight with him. If he enjoyed surveillance and control so much, she would let him have his way. Or, looking at it from another angle, she should let him see with his own eyes just how peaceful and liberated her life was without him.
With that thought, the frustration in her chest dissipated significantly. Rina was right—life is what you make it, and mindset dictates your quality of life. Now, she finally understood the advice her sister had given her the other day.

At the airport, Elise said goodbye to Kaia and headed through security.
Sam stood in place, waiting until she had successfully cleared the checkpoint before turning to leave the airport. As he walked, he tapped the Bluetooth earpiece in his ear and spoke in a low voice: "Madam is inside. Keep a close eye on her... She’s very sharp, so make absolutely sure you don’t expose yourself..."
...
Inside the cabin, Elise found her seat and sat down. Moments later, someone took the seat right next to her.
The man was dressed in black sportswear, tall and long-legged, wearing a bucket hat, sunglasses, and a face mask that completely concealed his features. Just as he sat down, a woman who had been following him took a seat just across the aisle.
The woman had a sharp, short haircut. She was lecturing the man with a stern expression. "To get you this vacation, I had to painfully turn down two commercials. You better make it up to me later!"
"I get it." Leaning back against the headrest, the man pulled his bucket hat down even lower. His deep voice carried a lazy, nonchalant tone. "This is my first vacation in three years. Can you please stop nagging in my ear?"
"If I don’t nag, you’ll run wild!" The woman scanned their surroundings and sighed. "If you hadn’t chosen Rainport for your vacation, I never would have agreed to this."
Most people in Rainport didn’t care about celebrities; they had their own spiritual beliefs, devoted to the powerful local deities. As a result, many celebrities chose Rainport when they wanted a quiet getaway.
Listening to the exchange, Elise couldn’t help but glance at the man beside her. But he was so heavily bundled up that it was impossible to make out his face. Besides, she wasn’t into pop culture; she couldn’t even name more than a handful of celebrities. Consequently, she didn’t think twice about sitting next to a big star.
Once the plane reached a stable cruising altitude, she requested a blanket from the flight attendant, put on her eye mask, and went back to sleep.
Two hours later, the plane touched down at Rainport International Airport.
After disembarking, Elise retrieved her luggage and followed the crowd toward the exit. She had just pulled out her phone to call Mrs. Shaw when a sudden commotion broke out in the crowd.
Before Elise could react, someone bumped hard into her arm. She stumbled backward in the chaos, but someone quickly caught her from behind, steadying her.
Before she could even process what was happening, a surge of people rushed forward. The crowd jostled her, causing her phone to slip from her grasp and clatter onto the floor. In the next second, it was kicked deep into the stampede of moving feet...
