Chapter 44: I was sure you were in danger because...

I don’t know what happened after that but I woke up to find myself on someone’s back. From his scent alone, I could tell it was Noah and that was why I felt relaxed.

He was finally giving me the piggyback ride I always wanted but why did it not feel as good as I imagined?

Instead, my chest felt heavy, my insides felt hot and my eyes were streaming down tears.

Was it a dream? I doubt it. But how did I get out of there, and why was I on Noah’s back, walking along the road?

I felt so horrible.

"You’re awake," I heard Noah’s voice. "Should I put you down?"

"Yes," I said, and he slowly lowered his body and released my legs so they could touch the ground, but when I tried to stand, I couldn’t.

There was no strength in my legs so I landed back on his back.

"I’m sorry," I apologized. "It seems you’ll have to keep carrying me." He nodded and grabbed my legs before lifting his body up like it was no big deal.

"You have a few bottles on your back so we’ll need to stop by the pharmacy." He said. "And probably also get something for your fever. You’re burning up."

No, that wasn’t a normal fever. It was the drug Mark fed me.

"What... Happened?" I asked though I wished I did not. Just thinking about the piss that Mark had done something to me while I was passed out made me want to vomit my insides.

I passed out after Mark had asked me to spread my legs but I could not feel anything out of the ordinary down there. It was as if he never got to do it.

"I called your phone a couple of times but you didn’t pick up." He said, "So, I decided to follow your scent."

"Follow my scent?" I asked, surprised. "Was that how you found me?" He nodded.

Wow, it was so good to have such canine features.

"There were two guards who didn’t want to let me in so I beat them up." He said which shocked me. He beat up those big guys? Well, he wasn’t small, himself but they were bigger than him.

He must’ve relied on his supernatural strength.

"I was sure you were in danger because your scent came off strong from inside that booth and they did not want to let me in."

I felt touched. So, he rushed in to save me because I was in danger. He sounded so sus but I liked it.

"There was Zane, a few weird looking men waiting at a corner, and a man who was taking off your pants. I assume that’s Mark?" He asked and I nodded, shutting my eyes.

It was disgusting.

"Mark is... My older brother. He’s a monster." I said, my arms around his neck trembling. "To think all I’ve gone through was because of him and the reason he was so evil to me... He wouldn’t explain it to me."

"I beat him up." Noah said and then stopped walking. "But... I think that’s not enough. Should we turn back?"

"What for?"

"I need to at least take one of his limbs," he said and my eyes widened. "That should at least make you feel better after you’ve suffered for so many years."

"Wait, what?"

He was joking, right?

But Noah glanced back at me; the expression in his eyes was dead serious. He really wanted to do that? For me?

"Now, you’re just acting unlike yourself," I said and pushed his head forward.

"I know," he said and continued walking. "And I don’t know why either. But I think that man deserves to rot."

"I agree." I said, relaxing on his back. "He’s too evil and cruel..." Tears began to slide down again. "What did I do to deserve this? I didn’t do anything. He claims I took his place. He’s putting the blame on a baby that hasn’t been born. I don’t even know what he means."

Noah stopped again, his eyes widened in shock.

"Wait, what did you say?"

I sniffed and spoke calmly.

"He said I took his place so that’s why he wants to ruin me." I sniffed again, wiping my eyes and nose on his back. "He said something about a man choosing me when I was just a zygote instead of him, who had put so much effort. I don’t understand that and it doesn’t make sense to me. I... I didn’t do anything wrong. I know I didn’t do anything wrong so why did I suffer."

I began to cry again but this left Noah in deep thoughts. I had no idea what he was thinking about, and I wondered if he was just listening to me wailing, but he kept silent and then sighed.

"You’re right, it’s not your fault." He said and began to walk again. "So, don’t think too much about it. Okay?"

I nodded. No amount of wrongs that I would do could justify his actions towards me. I didn’t commit a sin against him. If what he said was true then the one who sinned against him should be the man who picked me for whatever reason he was talking about.

He had no right to ruin my life.

We got to the pharmacy and I had to take off my clothes for them to take out the tiny pieces of broken shards. Luckily, they weren’t deep, so I didn’t require stitches, but I was still feeling light-headed like someone who had drunk.

It must be the drug. I hoped it would clear up on its own since I wasn’t feeling the effects as much as I did before but as time went by, it was getting worse.

We had gotten home, and I was taking a shower, hoping to clear my head, but I was hardly seeing what was in front of me.

"What is this?" I mumbled.

Mark said it was something that would help me feel good. It was clear it was a form of aphrodisiac, but most aphrodisiacs I knew cleared off if there were no measures taken to satisfy the desire after a while, but this one seemed to have an on-and-off button.

The hotness kept rising and I was getting delusional.

I turned off the shower and tied a towel around my waist. But as soon as I opened the door, my eyes rolled back and I fell forward.

Luckily, Noah was there, and he caught me, but that did not make my situation any better.

"What’s wrong?" He asked. "You look like you’re in heat." He said and I raised my head.

"Ah, so you can tell." I said and looked at his face. "Then, will you help me?" I asked, but without waiting for a response, I reached my hand towards his face, pulled him down, and forced my lips on his.

This has to be the second time I’m forcing a kiss on this guy while he’s sober. But I couldn’t be bothered since I had this fire in me that only he could quench.

"Haa, help me, Noah." I said, releasing his lips and looking into his eyes. "I was drugged." I said and rested my head on his chest. "My insides are on fire."
