Chapter 35: Well, more for me then

We got to a decent restaurant and I ordered a full table. It felt like all I’d been eating for a month was take-outs and no proper meals. Well, that’s because I have been eating nothing but takeout after all.

Ahem. I watched Noah as he ate. He pulled down his nose mask below his chin and started using his cutleries like a dignified person. Should I say it was muscle memory that pushed him to do so?

We did know he was an Alpha of a pack, but you never know, he could’ve been a poor Alpha, leading a poor pack.

Still, from everything that has happened, I’m certain he was no poor Alpha, and watching him eat with a fork and knife proved it.

Now, I looked like the country bumpkin. But I wouldn’t be best so easily so I started using the fork and knife as well.

First, I ordered steak and after we had eaten that expensive yet miniscule stake, I ordered again. I was far from being satisfied, and I was certain Noah felt the same way, but he wouldn’t speak up.

I ordered a full table of seafood next and we dug in till I could no longer feel my mouth. It was so spicy and yet it looked like I was the only one suffering.

Since when did dogs have a tolerance to pepper?

Noah finished the rest of the dish but from what I could see, he still wasn’t satisfied, but he was so stubborn and wouldn’t say a word about it so I decided to order again but then he stopped me saying,

"Do you plan to spend all your money on one meal?" He asked. "I’m fine, and I feel like my belly will burst if you keep feeding me like this, so it’s enough."

Hm, for someone who starved for almost an entire month, he sure eats little.

"Fine, you’re right." I said. "But we can still have dessert, right?"

He looked at me for a while and then sighed.

"Do as you wish," he said and I could tell I had defeated him.

I ordered cake and ice cream for dessert. Maybe I felt full from eating so much but my mouth still felt quite numb due to the pepper. And in that regard, I decided ice cream would be a good fit.

It had a way of calming down the spicy taste in my mouth. I watched Noah eat slowly and sighed.

"Was he not a fan of sweet things?" I accidentally asked out loud and he shook his head.

"I don’t recall anything, but I don’t think I was ever a fan of sweets things, given that I can’t even finish this." He said, pushing it to me and I flicked my spoon from my mouth.

"Well, more for me then."

I didn’t know there were people who would say no to ice cream and cake but I guess the life of the rich was so unpredictable.

After eating, Noah thought we were making our way back home but I pulled him towards the supermarket and started putting anything that looked great to cook in the basket he was rolling.

I didn’t make a list of things we needed because, well, we needed everything. Milk, eggs, cabbage, carrots, meat, and even ingredients because someone had used them all us trying to remake a witch concoction.

Just thinking about how many eggs he wasted and his efforts to ’make it better by adding more’ still caused me to tremble in anger and cause my back to ache as though I were an old man.

After the supermarket, he finally thought it was time to go home since we had bought all we needed for the kitchen but then I pulled him into one of the clothing shops and started picking out whatever looked good on him.

"Micheal, stop this," he said, looking angry but I did well to pretend like I couldn’t see him or hear him.

"Hey, what do you think about that shirt?"

"I’m not going anywhere so why bother spending money on clothes?" He asked but I gave him a deaf ear.

It wasn’t like I was going out of my way to get him expensive clothes. They were all clothes he could wear inside, and maybe if we were to go out on a stroll, too.

We had to at least get out of the house a little often. I know they’re a bunch of unknown pursuers after him but if he’s well covered like this, I’m certain we can go out.

So, I wasn’t taking no for an answer.

Noah’s glare was on me even as we made our way back to my house. It looked like he was going to eat me raw, haha.

"What would you like to have for dinner?" I asked as we made our way into the house and headed for the kitchen. "We could try out pasta or rice. I make a really mean rice so..." Noah dropped the stuff in his hands on the counter, mainly the things for the kitchen, and as I was waiting for his reply, he suddenly pulled me by the arm, pushed me to the wall and pinned me there, using his arms to block both exit points.

"Haha, Noah. I was just asking what you’d like to eat for dinner. You don’t have to get so worked up about it." I said even though I knew this had nothing to do with dinner.

"Why are you doing this?" He asked and I went silent, tilting my head and feigning ignorance.

"Doing what?"

"I’d understand if you wanted to fill the kitchen and get yourself some new clothes but why did you get some for me as well?"

"Why? Would you rather be an exhibitionist and walk around naked, or would you prefer wearing the same shirt every single day?" I asked, pointing at his chest. "Whichever, it’s fine by me. I just thought I’d help you out a bit. Was that so bad?" I asked with a cunning grin but his eyes bore into me.

His slanted brows expressed how disturbed he was about this idea. Surely, he hadn’t planned to go out and stay in hiding, and I never actually planned any of this to begin with, but somewhere along the line, the plans changed.

Even if he didn’t want to go with this change, we were already being swept by it so why fight it?

"I don’t plan on going anywhere," he stated, looking serious but what was this?

I wasn’t intimidated at all. Maybe it was because I was just doing what he wanted me to do. He wanted me to live, right?

"Is that so?" I shrugged my shoulders. "Well, that’s too bad because I had planned on going out, and you’re going with me. You told me to live, right? This is part of me living so you have to cope with it whether you like it or not." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Noah growled softly and leaned closer, trying to intimidate me with his eyes but I took it lightly and even chuckled.

"Come on, Noah." I placed my hand on his shoulder and grinned. "Let’s live together, okay? No hard feelings."
