Chapter 187: Stop it! You can’t hurt Josh

Olivia could feel the commotion around her. She could feel the rattle on the floor, the growl, and the blood in her veins telling her that something bad was going on around her.

She could feel it but she was too weak to do anything.

’It hurts.’ she thought.

Her insides were burning and she could feel a certain leakage from someone inside her body. She didn’t know how she was able to tell but she was feeling it very well.

She was feeling something devastating.

’Papa, Daddy, it hurts so much,’ she cried in her thoughts, tears rolling down her face despite her unconscious state. ’But who’s calling me?’

It was a call but not through her name. No one called her name, and she could not hear her name, but she felt and knew someone was calling her.

Someone close by.

Slowly, she began to regain her consciousness and then she heard the growls and whispers of a wolf.

Barely, she was able to open her eyes, and when she did, she saw a white cub, fighting the grown guards, and blood all over its beautiful fur. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

At that point, she felt she knew who that was and a name escaped her lips,

"Josh?"

Josh felt it. He heard his name from those lips and turned his head.

But that moment of distraction caused him a lot and one of the guards finally got a hit on him, sending him flying as he whimpered.

"Josh!" Olivia yelled in fright and wanted to stand but her insides burned. It hurt a lot.

But she knew she had to stand up. Josh was in danger.

If it were her Papa and Daddy, what would they do?

"Hah, we finally got it to stay down." The guard who punched Josh said, massaging his wrist. "It’s just a stupid mutt, this monster. We can definitely take care of it."

"You’re only saying that cause you don’t have these injuries." One of them, who had been badly wounded on the face and neck, said.

"What are you idiots waiting for?!" The clown, who was barely holding on to his life with a cloth on his neck to stop the bleeding, yelled. "Hurry up and kill it."

They wanted to hang up on the little cub when Olivia finally got up and stood in front of Josh.

He was trying to get up. He was trying to stand on his feet and keep fighting but it looked like he had broken a leg.

It was hurt and trembling and Olivia, this time, wanted to protect him.

"Stop it! You can’t hurt Josh!" She yelled and they sneered.

"What’s this? Didn’t you already get put down?!" They asked and laughed, mocking her courage. "What? You’re going to protect that monster?"

"Josh is not a monster!" She yelled, and then blood splurted from her mouth, and she started trembling. She was doing too much in her condition but she couldn’t just stay down and let them hurt him.

"Huh? Why? Are you also like him? A monster?!" He asked and they laughed. "How much do you think it’ll fetch us if we send these two brats to a mad scientist to experiment on?"

"Probably a load of cash." One said and they laughed hard. "What other use are monsters like this anyway?"

Olivia trembled.

They were calling them monsters when they were doing this sort of thing.

"Josh is not a monster." She repeated again. "The only monsters here are you guys!" Her voice suddenly echoed like a roar, piercing through their eardrums and shaking the foundation.

It was an ability she didn’t know she had but that... Done out of nowhere... Took a lot out of her and all the strength quickly drained from her body.

All she could do now was use her body to protect Josh.

She wrapped her body around him, still telling and blood flowing out of her nose.

"Don’t worry, Josh. I’m here." He said and Josh equally trembled.

Why was she doing this? If she had woken up, she should’ve run when she had the chance? Why was she sacrificing herself like this?

"I won’t let them hurt you, Josh." She said, barely able to smile as widely as before.

That smile... He wished he could see it more.

How was she doing it? Wasn’t she scared? Wasn’t this too much? How could she make such a sacrifice just to protect her?

In the end, he was still useless.

He whimpered, wishing all this were a nightmare and he would wake up from it. He sighed that his Daddy would come save them. He didn’t want to see Olivia die.

"Damn, what was that just now?" One of the guards asked, finally regaining his senses from the shriek.

"It felt like a banshee’s scream. You know, like those movies."

"Gosh, we’re really dealing with monsters." The guard said and then took out his baton. "I think it’s better to finish them once and for all so we don’t get complications later."

He said and started approaching the trembling kids sprawled on the floor with the baton.

The clown decided this matter had become too serious and was going to report it to the ringmaster. Maybe the ringmaster would treat his wounds as well since he was helping him for his cause as well.

He picked his big body up and started heading out through another exit covered by a cloth. Unknowingly to him, he was leaving a trail with his blood.

The children in the cage were now more scared beyond their wits. Some had passed out from the violence, some threw up and others were crying, their hands clenched together and praying that all of this ends soon.

They wanted to get out of this nightmare as soon as possible. And... They were praying for the safety of the other kids.

They needed a hero.

As the guard raised his baton, ready to descend it on Olivia, he said,

"Blame your parents for taking you to Disneyland today, you monster." He was about to descend it when someone threw a stick at his head from behind. "What the hell?! Who threw that?"

They turned to find a little boy, crying heavily with snort running down his nose. He has thrown the baton he saw on the floor.

"Don’t... Don’t hurt them, you monsters!"

The other kids saw this and their eyes were opened.

Now there were only three guys and even if they held batons, if all of them gathered around them, they could definitely defeat them.

"You’re such cruel monsters. How... How could you do this?!" The boy demanded despite his heavy tears and snotty nose. "You’re evil. Very evil."

"What’s that brat saying? Want us to shut you up as well?" They snorted at him and though he was scared, he didn’t want to stay down anymore.

The other kids were getting beaten because they wanted to find a way for them to escape. So why should he still be seated?

Even if they beat him, they wouldn’t be able to kill him. And if they did... If they did... He would die a hero.

These thoughts made him cry more because he didn’t want to die but would he ever be able to smile again if other kids like him died trying to fight for them?

"You... Do your worst!" He dared. "You’re just big bullies ganging up on kids. You’ll never get away with this!" He yelled.

"And who’s going to stop us?"

"I am!" Roland’s sudden entrance was accompanied by a gush of wind as he sent the speaker flying with a hard punch to his face.

The other two guards stared in shock, and so did the kids.

Where did he just come from?

"You’re right kid." Roland said, "They’ll never get away with this."

The snotty-nose boy saw this, and relief immediately hit him. A hero. They were saved.

He fell to his knees and cried.

Roland turned his head to the other two, but his eyes fell on the floor, and his precious niece was sprawled on the floor. The stench of her blood coming from every corner of that room and then there was the cub she was trying to protect.

White fur, bloody, same condition as Olivia. That had to be Josh.

Those two... They were badly hurt.

He clicked his tongue, feeling greatly infuriated.

"I’m going to give you a chance to choose." He said. Since they came to a children’s park and there was a search on the way, he couldn’t bring his scalpel but that doesn’t mean he can’t use his own hands as weapons. "How do you want to die?"

The two guys looked at him, stunned, but then they entertained the foolish thought that he was by himself, so they could definitely take him on.

Boy were they dead wrong.

"Let’s take him out together." One said and they both charged in with their batons.

"You kids might want to close your eyes. It’s going to get rough from here."
