Chapter 170: Papa says you won’t hurt me

"Papa! There’s a big bad wolf in the living room!" Olivia yelled, and though her scream was ear-piercing, it didn’t look like she was scared.

Just look at those sparkling eyes.

It was as if she was excited and amused, and at the same time, cautious. It was something she was seeing for the first time in her life.

And probably something kids her age have never seen before, not even the adults.

But... Where did it come from? She only closed her eyes for a short while and her daddy... She paused and then gasped.

"Where’s Daddy?" She asked, looking around and then back at her Papa."Did the big bad wolf swallow Daddy?"

"Um, no but..." A sweat rolled down Michael’s face as he looked a little anxious.

How to explain why she was so excited like this?

Her nose suddenly twitched a bit and she pointed at the wolf.

"Papa, I can smell Daddy coming from the wolf. It ate Daddy, I’m sure of it." She yelled and Michael brushed his face with his palm.

She wouldn’t even give him any chance to speak.

"Okay, Olivia, I’m going to put you down first." Michael said. "And don’t be scared, the... wolf, won’t bite you."

"How can you be so sure, Papa?" Olivia asked, gripping her Papa tightly.

*Just place her down. Once she comes into contact with me, you won’t need to explain much.* Was the message Michael got from Noah through his voice transmission, which could only be heard by him, since he was a spouse and pack members when they were in their wolf form.

"Just trust me, honey. You trust me, right?" He asked and Olivia nodded.

The wolf got closer and Olivia felt her heart racing. She couldn’t say she wasn’t scared. Just look at its black fur and its golden eyes. It was so huge.

But... Despite her fears, her attraction to it seemed way stronger and she ended up stepping closer.

"Papa says you won’t hurt me." Olivia said. "But I keep getting Daddy’s smell from you. Anyway, I’ll trust Papa and hear what he has to say later. So for now..." She turned her head to Michael who gave her a thumbs up.

She was doing great.

"If you hurt me, you’re seriously going to get it from my Daddy." She said and then stretched her hand to touch its nose.

As soon as she did, her eyes widened and the gold in her eyes glinted sharply.

"Pa--" she paused, looking in disbelief. "Is that you, Daddy?"

However did the connection work, one couldn’t explain in details, but it was such a strong connection that with a little contact, a child could easily tell who their parent were.

"How is this possible, Papa? I mean, I don’t understand but I feel like this is Daddy." She said, turning her head. "Am I going crazy, Papa?"

"No, you’re not going crazy, sweetheart." Michael said, going closer. "Everything from how you were able to tell that there was a wolf in the living room despite never seeing one before, how you could easily sniff out your daddy in the wolf, and the connection you feel with it right now is all because you’re a little shape-shifting werewolf." He finally dropped the bomb, tapping her curious nose. "And this..." He went to hug Noah’s neck and brushed his body gently. "Is your daddy in his wolf form. It’s a form you’ll get one day and... Well, let’s allow him to explain the rest once he turns back to normal. For now, know that you’re not a regular little girl like everyone else and your papa is a big shot in the supernatural world."

Was it too much to let the little one know about this truth? Michael pondered on that for a while.

Looking at Olivia, who usually smartly snapped her fingers as she got the concept of whatever she was told in less than a minute, pondered for so long while twisting her cute little lips, he felt maybe this was too much for her to handle.

He looked at Noah, who in turn nudged his head on Olivia, tickling her, and she giggled.

"That tickles." She said, her face growing bright.

But Noah did not stop and nudged closer, making her laugh more.

"What do you want to do?" She asked and then Michael said,

"You wanted a horseback ride, right? He said you should get on, that this will feel more like a horseback ride." He explained.

"You can understand him, Papa?" Olivia asked.

"Yeah, we’re sorta connected by mind." She said. "Can’t you understand him? I thought you could since you were able to know he was your Daddy right away."

"I don’t know. I just... Felt it?" He tilted her head, unsure how to explain the situation. "Anyway, I wish I could understand Daddy like this."

"He said when you’re older, you’ll be able to understand him once you transform," Michael explained.

"When will that day come?"

"Who knows? Just keep in mind that it’s when you’re older." Michael said but then paused, a little worry shadowing him. "But if you feel anything strange happening to you, Olivia. Don’t keep it to yourself. The only ones who can help you are me, your daddy, and probably your uncle and aunty since they’re also werewolves."

As soon as Michael said that, Olivia’s mouth dropped.

"Uncle and aunty are werewolves as well?" She asked, her little shocked expression looking so cute and adorable.

"Yes, they are." Michael said.

"Wow, I didn’t think of that at all." She said and Michael lifted her up, dropping her on top of Noah.

"There’s no way you would’ve known anyway," Michael said and Olivia’s hands dug into Noah’s fur. It was soft and very comfortable so she dropped her body on it.

"I feel like I’m melting Papa. Daddy’s back feels so comfortable." She said. "I just might fall asleep."

"Don’t fall asleep. You might accidentally fall off."

"No, I’m sure Papa and Daddy won’t let me fall." She said, smiling with her full teeth on display. "And by the way, Papa, are you also a werewolf?"

Michael wasn’t taken aback by this question since it was natural to ask that, but it did take him by surprise. Even if he prepared an answer, it was useless.

"No, I’m not, honey." He answered, stroking Olivia’s hair. "I’m just a regular human."

"Oh." She said. "Then, does being a regular human make it dangerous to be around Daddy and the rest?"

"Well, not exactly," Michael answered. "Do you think I’ve felt uncomfortable being around your uncle and aunty all this while?" He asked and Olivia shook her head. "There you have it." He laughed.

"Alright, I get most of it. Then, now for the big question," she added and sat up. "I looked at the human anatomy recently." She said.

"Human anatomy? Do you even understand anything just from looking at it?" Michael asked in disbelief.

"Hehe, more than you’d expect, Papa." She said, her trickery grin displaying on her lips.

"Don’t go filling your head with unnecessary information." Michael said, his hand on his forehead. "You shouldn’t be looking at stuff like that until you’re much older."

This was why she needed to stay away from all computers in this house. Who knows what she would end up searching on the Internet?

"But I couldn’t help it. I was curious." She said, her eyes dropping sadly. "Does that make you mad?"

"Well, not entirely but what were you curious about that you decided to take a look at human anatomy that I couldn’t understand till I was 18?"

"Well," she tapped the tip of her finger together, her cheeks puffed as she pouted her lips.

She looked like she was worried she had done something bad.

"First, Papa needs to promise he won’t suddenly get sad or mad and yell at me."

"Jeez, what do you take me for? It’s not like I’d yell at you unnecessarily and..." He paused as he realized she said she didn’t want him to be sad either. "Olivia, what were you curious about?"

He suddenly got a hunch.

Something that this little one could be so curious about but couldn’t ask him directly.

"Do you promise?" She probed and he sighed, letting go of the anxiety that was building inside him.

"Alright, I promise. So tell me." He said and Olivia dropped her hands, grabbing Noah’s fur and said,

"One day, at my old school, my teacher asked about my mother." She said, sparking a hateful light in Michael’s eyes. "I told her I don’t have a mummy since Papa gave birth to me but she said that it wasn’t true. And that you probably said that so that I wouldn’t miss my mother and ask questions. But I was sure Papa gave birth to me."

Michael’s hand had begun to tremble but he held it with his other hand, trying to keep his cool.

(But seriously, who would say that to a child? The people at her previous school were so hateful)
