Chapter 155: I know what you’re thinking

"Has she finally fallen asleep?" Michael asked as he walked in and Noah raised his head, nodding. "Hah, it was about time." He sat on the bed next to Noah and crossed his legs. "This little rascal has a lot of energy stored up. I heard kids all have such vast energy stored up. I almost feel bad for their teacher."

As soon as he said that, they both laughed softly, not wanting to wake her up.

"Michael," Noah suddenly called, the atmosphere shifting to a rather heavy and sad point. "I took too long, didn’t I?"

"Hm?"

Michael tilted his head.

What was he on about now?

"Olivia said she couldn’t give you all the love you needed because she was too small, and because of that you were always sad." He explained. "She didn’t have a lot of love to give and now she wants me, who is very big, to give you the love I have so you won’t be sad anymore."

Michael stayed silent.

It was a given that Noah would do that now that it was back but the reason Michael went silent was not because of Noah.

He looked down at Olivia. His little girl was talking about such big things at such a young age.

Did she even understand what she said?

She said she was too small and that was why she couldn’t stop him from being sad? Whoever said it was her responsibility?

"This little... She’s thinking about unnecessary things at this age." He exclaimed.

But he didn’t know. He didn’t know that his daughter had been thinking about stuff like this and burdening her little heart with things like responsibility.

She was so young. Just why did... Why did she have to be so smart?

He wanted her to live normally and care for nothing in the world except toys and friends. He wanted her to focus on her own interests, but what’s this? She wasn’t even thinking about friends but stuff like sadness and love?

Just how much of this world could she comprehend?

Does this mean she had been watching him this whole time? She knew he was drawing close to his limit? His little girl?

Was that why she went ahead and contacted Noah? For his sake?

Michael covered his mouth, his heart ripping painfully. He couldn’t hide his emotions well in front of his child so she had to...

He felt horrible right now.

Just what kind of mother was he?

"Michael," Noah called, worriedly but Michael shook his head, waving his hand as he tried to calm himself.

"I’m... I’ll just take a moment to calm down."

He couldn’t even lie that he was fine because Noah would not believe it.

After hearing something like that, how could he be fine?

"I understand how you feel," Noah said. "I felt the same way after hearing what she had to say. I felt so incompetent that I kept asking myself why I didn’t come back sooner. Maybe then, Olivia wouldn’t have to feel like she had a big role to play but since she was so small, she could only play a little role." He lowered his head, brushing her hair. "I could feel it when she was talking. She was blaming herself. And that made me hate myself even more. It’s my fault my daughter has such thoughts."

"No, it’s not your fault." Michael said. "It’s not your fault, Noah. You were doing your best."

"Then it’s not your fault either." Noah immediately said and Michael paused. How did he know what he was going to say? "I know your character as much as you know yourself, Michael. I know you’re going to say it’s your fault. You always had this habit of blaming yourself. When things start going wrong, you end up with self-blame. But this time, it’s not your fault. You also did your best."

He gently and softly placed Olivia down on the bed.

Michael’s heart was thumping because of what Noah just said. He said he knew he would resort to self-blame. Seems he still knew his character very well.

But this did not make him feel better.

Someone needed to be blamed for how their daughter turned out.

"I know what you’re thinking." Noah said. "But believe me, it’s not every time you need someone to blame."

Michael gulped, his breath feeling caught.

How did he know again? Was he reading his mind?

’Ah, I just had a deja vu.’ Michael thought.

There was a time in the past when it felt like Noah was reading his mind, word for word, and he wondered if Noah had a superpower that allowed him to read minds. And that too, Noah knew.

And when he asked how Noah knew what he was thinking, he said,

"Your expressions always give you away. How can I not know what you’re thinking when it’s screaming out loud on your face?" Noah said to Michael and Michael turned his face away.

Yeah, it was something like that.

"This time, things happened without control," Noah said, going down on his knees in front of Michael. "Olivia is very smart, and she’s able to tell what’s going on at a glance. Nobody poisoned her mind. Nobody pointed anything out to her. Even if you had tried to hide your emotions better, she’d have caught on with a little observation. That’s the kind of kid she is."

"You’ve never even spent time with her. How do you already know what kind of kid she is?" Michael asked.

"That’s a funny question." He said and smirked. "How could I not know when she has my blood flowing so thick in my veins? You said it, didn’t you? She’s the exact replica of me when it comes to brains and logic."

"Of all things for her to have picked up from you." Michael muttered, dissatisfied.

"Hey, she took my eyes as well." Noah added, trying not to laugh at Michael’s dissatisfied expression. "And the rest," he kissed his hand. "She took from you."

Michael’s heart was thumping. When was the last time Noah knelt in front of him like this?

It had been a while.

A long while and he was starting to get excited.

"You don’t have to worry about Olivia’s thought process and her growth because from now on, we won’t give her a reason to worry. She’ll live her childhood carefreely, just as you want." He assured and Michael nodded.

He guessed that now that Noah was back, things would fall into place. Olivia wouldn’t need to see his fallen shoulders or sad exterior from now on.

So, it was all perfect.

"Now," Noah began to trace kisses up his arm. "Shall we get on to the next agenda?" He asked and Michael blushed.

Ah, they were going to do it after a long time.

He could feel his insides heating up and his heart pounding.

It was finally time.

He had dreamt about it a lot. The warmth he missed so badly. The hot kisses and strokes from Noah as they intertwined on the bed with their bodies connected as one... Hah, such lewd thoughts.

"Ah, you must be thinking naughty things already." Noah said, his eyes grinning as he sensed the Pheromones Michael was releasing.

"Wanna know more about my thoughts?" Michael asked, his eyes turning hazy and his breath turning hoaxed.

Noah bowed his head.

This was more dangerous than he thought. If things continued like this, he wouldn’t be able to hold back even if he wanted to.

"Alright, legs go." He stood up and scooped Michael off the bed and into his arms.

He headed for the door and after walking out, he found Roland and Alyssa in the living room.

"Olivia is asleep," Michael said. "Please, try not to wake her up."

It would be bad if she suddenly wanted to see her Papa and Daddy after waking her up.

"We understand." Alyssa said and watched them leave.

They could already tell from the atmosphere around them that they were going to have a long and loud night.

It was a good thing that the walls were soundproof, so no matter how loud they got, their noise wouldn’t escape their room.

Noah closed the door and as soon as he did so, Michael hooked his arms around Noah’s neck and then attacked his lips with a hot and salivating kiss.

They both got caught in each other’s arms and did not rest until they got to bed.

Noah threw Michael on the bed, breathing hard as it had been hard to catch his breath and he watched Michael panting but in a seductive way as he invited Noah into the bed with him.

Noah took off his shirt while Michael undid the knot on his robe.

He had been wearing a bathrobe this entire time, and Noah had been doing his best not to peek at his chest in the moments when the robe got a bit loose.

And as if Michael had been intentionally provoking him, he would show more skin and then cover up completely.

He did that three times before Olivia started jumping on the bed. If not for that, Noah would’ve found it hard to keep sane the whole time.

"You’ve made me wait for five years, Noah." Michael said, licking his lips. "You’re not going to try and make me wait for a minute longer, are you?"

"Come on, you waited for five years, what’s a minute more, right?" Noah asked, crawling on the bed and catching Michael’s ankle, kissing it as he made his advance. "But just like you, I’m also very impatient. So, let’s get to it already, wifey." He grinned.
