Chapter 129: I’ll be very careful
Noah had missed the warmth of his mate so much that he was going mad and the only way to control that madness was to feed it.
He covered Michael’s mouth to muffle his moans while whispering words of affection and how he missed Michael continuously in his ear while Michael cried.
He had missed Noah so much that even the sex felt like something out of this world.
Once they had fed each other for a while, Noah cleaned up Michael with his handkerchief and sat on the floor with him, holding him like he might run away.
Michael’s heart raced.
"I’m sorry for coming like this." He said.
"No, it’s fine." Noah said. "I can see myself doing the same if Sebastian weren’t always on my tail."
Michael laughed softly.
"I missed you so much." He said.
"Yeah, me too." Noah said. "And I’m sorry that I was so cold to you and acted like I didn’t know you. I hurt you,"
"Well, I deserved it." Michael said and laughed but Noah couldn’t agree.
"No, while it was necessary, you did not deserve it. I can’t help but think of how hurt you felt."
He was like a saddened puppy and Michael stroked his hair.
"I did feel bad. You being cold to me and pretending like you don’t know me is my worst nightmare, after all. But I understand." He smiled. "You would never do that to me under normal circumstances. You were doing it to protect me so you’re not at fault."
Noah interlocked their fingers and then kissed Michael’s hand. That was when he noticed the bandage.
He had actually noticed it earlier, but they were in the middle of ’something’, so he could only bring it up now.
"How did you get this wound?" He asked, raising Michael’s bandaged hand.
"Ah, it’s about what I came to tell you," Michael said. "Don’t worry, the wound doesn’t hurt but I have something more important to tell you."
But Noah did not see how whatever he wanted to tell him was more important than the fact that he was wounded.
"Seriously, I’m fine. But more importantly, that blonde guy that you said was your Beta,"
"You mean Rhaeger?"
"Yes, that one..I followed him yesterday and saw him meeting up with some rogues." He said but Noah frowned.
"You followed him? Do you know how dangerous that is?" He asked, deeply concerned. "What would you have done if they caught you? What were your guards doing at a time like this?"
"Please don’t blame them. I rushed off on my own because I knew they wouldn’t let me if I told them about it. But you see, I’m fine. I didn’t get caught." He said.
Better refrain from bringing up that other part with Doctor Ro spanking him.
"Still," Noah was still worried but Michael smiled and caressed his face.
"It’s fine." He said. "I’m going to fly out tomorrow anyway."
Hearing this, Noah’s heart saddened and he hugged Michael tightly. So, he was finally leaving. He thought he had braced his heart for Michael’s departure but he still had problems letting him go.
"Sebastian won’t tell me where you’re headed." Noah said, sadly. "He doesn’t want me to suddenly abandon my work and go after you just because I can’t handle the separation any longer."
"Haha," Michael laughed sadly. "He knows the kind of person you are. Just like how I suddenly ran to you without thinking of the consequences, you will definitely try to do the same thing so it’s good that you don’t know where I’m headed."
Though, it was painful.
"Anyway, they were talking about how to attack you during the New Year’s party. It’s today, right? Tonight, I mean."
"Yes, the New Year’s party starts tonight before the countdown." Noah said, dropping his head on his shoulder. "I really wanted to spend the countdown with you." He mumbled.
"Yeah, me too." Michael said but then realized Noah had cut him off once more. "Ah, right." He held Noah’s arm, looking at him desperately. "They’ll try to lure you somewhere and then kill you. So please, don’t go with them."
Noah saw how Michael was worrying about him and smiled.
"I’ll be very careful." He said. "After all, I need to work hard so I can meet you again. I can’t die so easily."
"Yes," Michael said, sinking into his arms once again. "You have to hurry up and come back to me, Noah."
They stayed in each other’s arms for a while and then Noah’s phone rang. He looked at it and saw a text message from Sebastian.
He frowned and then sighed.
"It’s time to leave." He said and then kissed Michael’s lips. He kissed him deeply and then released his arms. "I probably won’t see you again for a while," he said, getting up and then helping Michael up. "But I will always keep you in my heart." He held Michael’s face.
Michael heard this and nodded, sinking into the feeling of Noah’s hand, and a single tear drop rolled down his cheek.
"I’ll definitely wait for you. So, please stay safe."
They kissed once more and then broke contact. The tip of their fingers suddenly went cold as they lost the warmth of the other.
"Stay here for a while." Noah said, adjusting his coat. "I’ll head out first."
Michael nodded, understandably.
Noah glanced at him and then closed his eyes, resolving to finally leave but not after he hugged Michael one last time, kissed the top of his head, and said,
"I love you so much."
He did not wait to hear the words back from Michael and walked out the door.
He was scared that if he heard those words from Michael, he wouldn’t be able to leave anymore.
Those words tied him to Michael like a very strong binding spell.
Michael wiped his eyes with his sleeve and then responded while smiling sadly,
"Yeah, I love you too. So much that I might die, Noah." He sniffed.
After Noah made his exit, Michael waited for a while, calming his emotions, and then walked out as well after looking at both sides and making sure no one saw him.
They thought no one had noticed.
But they thought wrong.
In the security control room, Rhaeger was watching the corridors because he didn’t know where Noah had suddenly run off to.
So, he saw this and it piqued his concern, as well as his interest.
’That face... Why am I seeing him here?’ he wondered and then squinted his eyes suspiciously.
That was the same man he had asked about Noah from the streets, and he acted suspiciously, smelling like a female as well.
He claimed not to know Noah but here he was, coming out of the same space that Noah was in. It couldn’t have been a coincidence.
Those two... There was definitely something going on.
Realizing this, he smirked.
’It seems I’m getting on to something pretty interesting here.’
