Chapter 775: Chapter 776 – Unknown Building – Part 2.
"Demon knights, clown, jesters.... They all dead." – said Lilium as she stared at the corridor with several corpses of the fallen monsters.
["What exactly happened to them?"] – asked GreyHunt via video call.
"Brutalized." – replied Lilium.
"It looks like they were ripped apart and cut apart with a blade, if I’m seeing this right."
["Are the corpses already disappearing?"] – asked GreyHunt.
"..."
"No." – replied Lilium as she gotten ready to fight and turned off the meeting.
(The corpses were just killed, weren’t they?) – thought Lilium while looking around, using her vampire race night vision ability as well as [Blood Vision], giving Lilium ability to see things with bloody, be it invisible or visible beings.
(I guess "sight" skills are working properly, not just night vision.) – thought nervous Lilium as she looked around in each direction, front, back, left, right, above and below, changing directions nonstop, aiming to spot even the slightest form of movement or change.
(Nothing.... I don’t see anything.)
(Are they hiding using skill?)
(No.)
(Maybe they are nowhere in my field of vision.)
"..."
(There is a door there.) – thought Lilium as she noticed a door nearby, which had the corpse of the demonic knight next to it.
"..."
(So far, we haven’t encountered any doublegangers... But...)
"..."
"Tch! Fuck it!"
"[Summon: Blood Warrior]." – Lilium summoned a humanoid soldier like creature in armor of blood.
"Go into that room and check for enemies. Look in each direction and if you don’t find anything, leave the room." – said Lilium as the blood creature quickly rushed towards the room, kicking the door open before then entering the room.
Lilium kept her guard up, looking towards the room while also keep checking each of direction.
"..."
"..."
"..."
The blood monster walked out of the room.
"..."
(Nothing?) – thought alarmed Lilium.
(Did the enemy quickly left the area and-)
"..."
"Wait." – said Lilium as she stared at the corpses of the monsters.
(Normally in this games the corpses of beings takes noticeable amount of time to disappears... But the summons, tamed monsters and just servants type takes way less time to disappear.)
(Their bodies start emanating data particles much faster.)
(But... Why the hell none of these summons are showing these effects?!) – thought Lilium as she quickly leaped away from the corpses and instantly fired off a barrage of blood projectiles at them, hitting the corpses that were closest to the woman.
"..."
The corpses had no reaction.
But even so, Lilium didn’t stopped attacking.
She fired off blasts of magics left and right, hitting every single corpse that she saw.
"..."
"..."
No reaction.
(What the fuck is going on?) – thought Lilium who was on extremely high alert.
(Why the hell corpses are not disappearing?!)
(They are DEAD!)
(Are they something like fake corpses!?)
[You have received the video call invite to the group meeting from player Lilium]
(Wait! I’m not in combat?!)
{{Info: You cannot make video call requests if the user is in the combat or the contacted person is busy with their own {combat} status.]
"Guys! We have fucking problem! There is something weird going on here!" - shouted Lilium.
"The corpses! They are not disappearing no matter what!"
"Yeah... I think I found the same problem." – said Cave who was staring at what also appears to be a bloody massacre of the group’s monsters.
"I’m in the corridor also filled with corpses... And it doesn’t look pretty." – said Cave as he stared at GreyHunt’s demonic beast with a missing head.
"I think most of these creatures were yours GreyHunt."
"!"
(What was that?) – thought Cave.
[Communication with player Cave has been ended.]
"!?"
"HEY! WHAT HAPPENED!" – shouted Cave.
["Communication got cut off... That means he is fighting."] – said Litle Manic.
"Fuck! Then start running! If he really started fighting then he must be making a lot of noises! Move! Move! MOVE!" – shouted GreyHunt as the trio of the players started running throughout the halls of the building, aiming to find any noises caused by the Cave’s fight.
"Hey Lilium! What the hell were you talking about just now?!" – asked running GreyHunt.
["The corpses of the slain monsters were not disappearing! Like they were just there! No death animation or anything! I even attacked them, but there was no reaction whatsoever!"] – replied Lilium.
["I don’t know if these corpses were real or not. They looked really dead to me. With all the damage they had suffered."]
(Corpses are not disappearing?) – thought GreyHunt as he ran through halls of the building.
(Are these really fake corpses?)
(...)
(Or by any chances... Are they real?)
(Either way, I don’t like this.)
(When the doublegangers died, they disappeared few seconds after their death.)
(However, they only pretended to be us at the top condition.)
(Nothing less, nothing more.)
(But Lilium attacked the god damned corpses, so does that mean that they were real corpses?)
["!"]
["I hear it!"] – shouted LM.
["I hear noises above me!"]
["I’m ending the call! I’m going to help out Cave"]
[You have ended the call.]
(I’M GOING TO BLOW THE FUCKING HOLE FOR MYSELF!) – thought LM as he aimed with his magic bow at the ceiling, before then unleashing a demonic arrow at it, blowing it up
"[Surprise Barrier]." – LM applied to himself an invisible barrier before then aiming to fly towards the hole he just open.
"CA-"
"?!"
However, the arrow wasn’t able to blow up the hole in the celling.
And it wasn’t all.
The damaged celling already started repairing itself at extremely rapid rate, alarming the goblin archer.
(Shit! I ain’t stopping!) – thought LM as he started unleashing nonstop barrages of explosives arrows at the celling.
(What the hell is this regeneration!?)
(When I tried breaking environment before to leave the tracks for the others, the buildings were not regenerating THAT fast!) – thought panicking LM as without hesitation he increased his fire power, unleashing stronger skills and finally managing to outpace the healing speed of the building, allowing the archer to finally blast through the celling and open up big enough hole.
[High Jump]
LM didn’t wasted any time and instead used his [Rouge] skill, jumping towards the hole and going right through it, managing to arrive at the floor above him.
"WATCH OUT!"
However, just as the goblin arrived at the floor, he was instantly met with blade.
But as the blade smashed into LM, the invisible barrier appeared and blocked off the attack, giving the goblin time to quickly back away.
[Trap Master] – [Class Rarity: Epic]
[A class that specializes in placing traps and tricking your opponents into their own doom.]
[Surprise Barrier] – [Active Skill]
[Apply to yourself a single use barrier that will reveal itself when attacked.]
[The barrier can block only single attack, but possess extremely powerful defensive ability.]
[The person that triggered the barrier will be afflicted with movement speed reduction debuff.]
[{The best trap is sometimes you yourself}.]
LM instantly aimed with his bow at the attacker, blowing them up with an explosion, while the goblin himself tried gaining more distance.
But as LM was trying to create the distance, he noticed the pair of glowing red eyes inside of the smoke caused by the explosion, before moments later a massive crimson red claws launched themselves at the goblin.
"?!" – LM managed in time to use his bow to somewhat block the attack, but just barely.
(FUCK! IF IT WASN’T FOR THE SLOW EFFECT, I WOULD END UP GETTING FUCKED!) – thought LM as the claw of blood retracted back to the mist.
"[DEMONIC SWORD: DOOM BLADE]!" – and at the same time, Cave rushed in from behind the smoke and swung his axe, unleashing a demonic slash that cut completely through the smoke and landing a strike on the attacker inside.
"..."
"Fuck." – said Cave who was covered from head to toes in injuries.
"Even direct hit from ultimate didn’t fazed you?"
In between the two players, a humanoid being stood.
A that stood around 2 meters tall and wore a long black coat.
The pants and the shirt that the creature was wearing were somewhat well maintained.
The attacker was also wearing a simple top hat, making the attacker appear like some sort of gentlemen from 19 century.
...
But that being wasn’t really a gentlemen.
On the edge of his coat and sleeves, there was crimson red blood.
And in the right hand, the humanoid being held a saber like blade, which looked visible... Feral in nature, its edges were like fangs.
However, that saber looked nothing compare to the creature’s left arm, which had something akin to a crimson claws covering the man’s arm, specifically the entire forearm as well as the hand of the creature was covered by this weird "gantlet", which was equipped with beastly claws and most important, something akin to blue jewels, specifically 4 blue gems with triangle shape, with each of the tips of the gems aiming at the small center between them all.
But the beastly saber and monstrous crimson red claws were not truly the thing that put both the players on the high alert.
It was the face of the monster.
Or more specifically "faces".
There was several faces straight up sawn onto the surface of the creature head.
Its original eyes and mouth were at their place and they were the only "real" ones, while the rest of the mouths and eyes were nothing more than hollow.
However, the creature’s own mouth was straight up ripped open, missing all of its cheeks as if they were cut out by something and making all of their teeth be completely visible to the group.
[Forgotten Murderer]
