Chapter 348: Chapter 347- Slight Misunderstanding (1)
On the other side of the transmission line, Ange, who had truly heard Grey’s voice, couldn’t help but shudder.
Her bright auburn hair, which had been neatly tied behind her head, trembled slightly as her body stiffened.
"Grey... Is that really you...?"
Her voice was low and filled with uncertainty, as though she was afraid that the answer she would receive might shatter the fragile hope she had been holding onto for months.
When Grey heard her voice, he couldn’t help but smile warmly.
"Yes. It’s me."
His reply was simple and brief, yet those three words carried more reassurance than any lengthy explanation could.
For a few moments, he heard faint shuffling noises coming from the other end of the transmission. It sounded as though Ange had suddenly stood up from her seat and nearly knocked something over in her haste.
Then her voice rang out once more.
"Meet me at Port 89. The café across from the large medicinal store."
Her words came out quickly and sharply, as though she was desperately trying to suppress an excited squeal.
Grey found himself chuckling softly.

He had expected that she would want to meet him immediately after learning he was alive, so her reaction did not surprise him.
After exchanging a few more words, the transmission finally ended.
Grey lowered the communication artifact and stared at it silently for a few moments.
A sense of relief slowly spread through his chest.
It had been a very long time.
In fact, the last conversation he had with Ange was before he departed for the Dead Sea alongside Captain Violet.
By Grey’s own memories, more than four months had passed since then.
And those four months had been anything but peaceful.
He had experienced countless life-and-death situations, witnessed things he never should have seen, and nearly lost his life on multiple occasions.
Thinking about it now, even he found it difficult to believe that he had actually made it back alive.
A faint smile appeared on his face before he finally glanced down at himself.
Only then did he realize just how terrible he looked.
After returning to the sect, he had gone straight to the Detective Agency Department without changing his appearance.
His robes were still torn in several places, and dried blood stained the edges of his sleeves and collar.
Although most of the blood no longer belonged to him, that hardly made his appearance any more presentable.
There was no way he could meet Ange looking like this.
With a helpless shake of his head, Grey quickly returned to his quarters.
After washing away every trace of blood and dirt, he changed into a fresh set of robes.
By the time he was finished, there wasn’t a single stain left on his body.
Only then did he leave the Detective Agency Department and begin making his way toward Port 89.
—
Inside the office, Violet sat leisurely in the captain’s chair.

As she watched Grey’s departing figure disappear into the distance, a small amused smile appeared on her face.
With a flick of her wrist, an apple appeared in her hand.
She casually spun it between her fingers before gently rubbing its smooth surface.
However, just as she was about to take a bite, her movements suddenly froze.
The playful expression on her face vanished. A trace of seriousness replaced it.
The next moment, she abruptly stood up from her seat.
The space directly before her trembled violently.
Cracks spread across the air itself before shattering like a broken mirror.
A figure stepped out from the fractured space.
It was a middle-aged woman with cold, sharp features and an icy expression.
The instant she appeared, Violet’s instincts exploded with warning.
Without hesitation, her hands moved into a series of hand seals as spiritual energy surged through her body.
She was fully prepared to activate one of her spells and engage in battle if necessary.
However, before she could complete the spell, she suddenly recognized the newcomer.
Her hands stopped midway.
The spiritual energy gathering around her immediately dispersed.
A look of astonishment appeared on her face.
"Oh? Elder?"
Violet blinked several times.
"What are you doing here? Have you come for an apple?"
She held up the fruit in confusion, seemingly unable to understand why such a powerful figure would suddenly appear in her office.
Hearing those words, the middle-aged woman’s eyes briefly swept across the room.
Only after confirming that there were no hidden threats did her gaze settle on Violet once more.
However, when she carefully examined Violet’s condition, a faint frown appeared on her face.
A small crease formed between her brows.
"What are you talking about?"
Her cold voice echoed through the room.
"I’m looking for a cultivator who recently arrived in this building."

"Young."
"Grey hair."
"Grey eyes."
"His clothes were torn and covered in blood."
The woman’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Have you seen him?"
The atmosphere instantly grew heavy. The pressure in her voice made it clear that she was not interested in idle conversation.
Any answer other than the one she wanted might very well invite consequences.
Upon hearing such a detailed description, Violet immediately understood who the woman was referring to.
Grey.
Her first instinct was to lie.
After all, Grey had only just left.
But after remembering the identity of the person standing before her, she quickly dismissed that thought.
This was a powerful elder of the sect.
Provoking her without reason was not something Violet wished to do.
Pretending to think for a moment, Violet tapped her chin.
"Grey hair and grey eyes..."
Suddenly, her eyes lit up as though she had just remembered something.
"Ah! You must mean Grey."
She nodded confidently.
"Yes, he was here a moment ago."
Violet pointed toward the door.
"He just left for Port 89."
Then, unable to suppress her curiosity, she tilted her head.

"Second Elder, is there something you need from him?"
However, the moment the middle-aged woman heard Grey’s location, she completely ignored the question.
Her attention had already shifted elsewhere.
The outline of her body gradually became blurry and indistinct.
The surrounding space distorted once more.
And before Violet could say another word, the woman vanished without a trace.
As though she had never been there at all. Silence returned to the office.
Violet stared at the empty space for several seconds.
Then she slowly lowered her hand and glanced at the abandoned apple lying on the floor.
"...Well."
She bent down and picked it up.
"I guess she wasn’t here for the apple after all." She dusted the sand off the apple before taking a bite.
