Chapter 133: Chapter 123: What’s Wrong With You Wolves?

Gu Ning hefted the small silver pistol in her hand. It was light, and its size was a perfect fit for her. These were the two features that had convinced her to buy it from Barto at a high price.

She slipped the pistol into her pocket, put on a hard construction helmet to protect her head, then pulled open her bedroom door and rushed out.

Before she could even reach the front door, the sturdy entrance crashed inward with a deafening boom.

Seth was thrown in along with it.

Gu Ning skidded to a halt, freezing on the spot.

"Tsk, I told you that guy Alex had a nice place."

"Captain, this room is way better than the kennel we live in."

"What kennel?" Leo shot his subordinate a sidelong glance and clapped his hands. "That’s a wolf’s den. A stinking wolf’s den."

"Oh, oh, right. A wolf’s den."

Hearing that vaguely familiar voice, Gu Ning tightened her grip on the pistol in her pocket.

When Seth saw Gu Ning come out of the bedroom, he said in a panic, "Little Boss, get back inside! Hide!"

"Hmm?"

Leo’s gaze swept across the room. When he saw the small figure standing in the living room, he paused. A grin spread across his face, his eyes burning as he stared at Gu Ning. "So this is where he was hiding you."

Hearing the malicious tone in his voice, Gu Ning immediately remembered. This was the Beastman who had blocked her and Alex’s car last night.

Seth scrambled up from the floor, trying to get to Gu Ning’s side. Leo’s eyes narrowed, and several Dog Clan Beastmen immediately rushed forward to pin him down.

Seeing this, Gu Ning took two steps back, her finger wrapping around the trigger.

Seth broke free of their hold, throwing a heavy punch that knocked down the Beastmen flanking him. The next second, he was swarmed and forced to the ground again, his hands pinned behind his back.

"Quite the fighter, little wolf cub." Leo strode forward and kicked Seth. Seth grunted from the blow, a fierce look crossing his face as his wolf ears popped out.

"Keep an eye on him," Leo said, then turned to look at the little Mixed Breed.

"BANG!"

The deafening gunshot plunged the surroundings into silence.

Seth was also stunned. He looked at Gu Ning. ’Where did Little Boss get a gun?’

"Captain!"

A Dog Clan Beastman cried out in alarm.

Leo glanced at the bloody hole in his shoulder, the casual expression on his face slowly vanishing.

"Little Boss, don’t do anything rash!" Seth struggled violently against the Dog Clan squad. "Let go of me!"

Gu Ning held the gun with both hands, which were trembling slightly.

She waved the muzzle back and forth between the Beastmen holding Seth down, then fired another shot to the side, signaling for them to release him.

The Dog Clan squad looked at each other, uncertain.

It wasn’t that they were afraid of the gun in the Mixed Breed’s hands. They were afraid she would suddenly go berserk, creating a mess that would be hard to clean up.

They had only come here following the wolf cub’s scent. He’d given their men a serious beating, so they had to get some payback. Who knew he was keeping a Mixed Breed in his room?

Gu Ning stared intently at them, her gun-gripping hand sweating.

"What the hell is wrong with you wolves?"

A Dog Clan Beastman muttered, "The Mutant Species are just on the other side of the wall, and you’re keeping a Mixed Breed here?"

As soon as winter begins in Zone 19, Beastmen usually take their Mixed Breed relatives to the Central District, far away from the Mutant Species. Some even lock them up in prisons to prevent them from heeding the call of the Mutants and running off with them.

Andrew’s earlier order to move the construction site workers was also because he knew the site had hired many Mixed Breeds.

Mixed Breeds were a priority for relocation, targets to be moved far from the defensive wall. Otherwise, these Mixed Breeds would become part of the Mutant Species, adding to the pressure of culling them.

"Captain..."

Leo raised a hand, cutting his subordinate off.

He gave Gu Ning a smile and raised his hands in a harmless gesture. "Little Mixed Breed, what’s Alex to you? Your brother? Or maybe your uncle?"

Gu Ning: ’...Uncle?’

In the instant Gu Ning was distracted, a "BANG!" rang out—

Gu Ning only felt her hand go numb as the gun was knocked from her grasp. The force of the impact sent her sprawling to the ground.

Leo was a little surprised to see the Mixed Breed fall. He sneered, "That weak?"

With that, he spun the gun in his hand, holstered it at his waist, and strode toward the little Mixed Breed.

’She dared to shoot me. I’m going to beat the hell out of this little Mixed Breed brat.’

Before Leo could get close to the Mixed Breed, he heard his subordinates cry out again, "Captain, Captain!"

"Now what?"

Hearing the clattering and crashing behind him, he turned around impatiently. ’Can’t even hold down one little wolf. All they know how to do is eat...’

"RRRIP—!"

The sound of tearing cloth filled the air. Gu Ning pushed herself up from the floor and looked toward Seth. "..."

Seeing his figure rapidly growing larger, her pupils constricted. ’Holy shit...’

A massive wolf-like shadow pounced on Leo, tackling him to the ground.

"..."

Leo shoved his hand into the wolf’s mouth to stop it from tearing out his throat. "Fuck! You’re playing dirty!"

Seeing Seth transform into his beast form, the other squad members reacted. Some drew guns, others drew knives, and one even started taking off his clothes, preparing to transform as well.

"Captain, wait a second! I gotta take my clothes off. This is my only set. If it gets torn, I’ll have nothing to wear and have to run around naked..."

"Captain, maybe you should just transform yourself," said the squad member, halfway through undressing.

Leo, still holding the gnashing wolf jaws apart, roared, "...I must have owed you all in a past life! Get him off me!"

Seth hadn’t intended to bite down hard on Leo. He just wanted to intimidate the dog and then toss him aside.

Just then, a huge dog—a transformed Beastman—leapt at him. The wolf and the dog began to tear into each other.

The room, which had seemed spacious enough for Gu Ning, now felt cramped with the two giant beasts inside.

They became a whirlwind of teeth and claws, smashing furniture to pieces. They even knocked down half a wall.

The dog and wolf fought their way from the room into the hallway, and then back into the room again.

Gu Ning crawled through the chaos, trying to find a safe place to hide.

Suddenly, a hand appeared above her, grabbing the back of her collar and lifting her up.

Their eyes met.

"..."

Gu Ning stared at the pair of silver-blue eyes before her, feeling a sense of déjá vu.

After a moment of staring, she began to kick and claw wildly in the Beastman’s grip.

Leo pinned the little Mixed Breed onto the small sofa in the corner. Gu Ning knew she was about to get hit. She executed a powerful kick, like a rabbit kicking a hawk, right into his face. Then she wrapped her legs around his neck, did a sit-up, and grabbed his hair, yanking with all her might.

Leo: "..."

The moment the Mixed Breed latched onto him, he wanted to throw her off.

But...

His face was buried in her abdomen, and he took a deep sniff.

’This... What is this scent?’

Just then, Kloer, returning with breakfast, saw the wrecked hallway. He immediately dropped the food and rushed into the room.

Gu Ning was still frantically tearing at Leo’s hair, while Leo... was still burying his face in her stomach, sniffing wildly.

Gu Ning sensed something was wrong and tried to pull away, but Leo grabbed her leg and lifted it slightly, his head already starting to burrow lower.

"..." ’What is this dog doing?’

While both were frozen in a daze, a thick arm reached out from behind Leo, roughly yanking him away. A fist the size of a bowl then slammed into Leo’s face, sending him staggering sideways.

An imposing figure now stood in front of Gu Ning.

Leo spat out a mouthful of blood, his eyes turning savage. Just as he was about to pounce on Kloer and fight, a sharp shout came from the doorway:

"All of you, stop!"
