Chapter 97: New Changes (2)
Back in the elevator, they made their way back to Floor Two. It was the same hallway as always. They made their way to the door and opened it.
Compared to what they saw on Floor One, Floor Two wasn’t miraculous. But it was still enough for them to take a second look.
Rather than one kitchen, there were several communal kitchens. Accompanying this was a larger dining area. People could interact with each other, children could play, and adults could discuss the latest rumours.
There was a small recreation center with board games, books, and puzzles. There was a TV loaded with archived media.
At the center of the room was an orientation hall. Since this was a place everyone would pass through eventually, it was a place for people to get their future tasks or for any questions people might have.
There were holographic screens for those choosing tasks, making queries, or doing other things.
"This is where the seven of you will live," Kain said.
He had been talking to the system about the rooms, and it told him how the rooms had been set up.
There was a communal bathroom. One section was specifically for using the toilet, and another was designated for baths.
Kain walked to one of the rooms and pulled the door open. It wasn’t magnificent, but it was a place to live. Each person had their own sleeping quarters. It was furnished, and there was some space for storage.
"You can come with us to the other floors to explore for now. But this is where you will stay for now. I assume none of you has any objections." Kain’s eyes bore into them, waiting for one of them to disagree.
Sadly, none disagreed. Kain nodded, and they made their way to Floor Three.
The difference was almost immediate. The Source Energy on Floor Three was almost double that of Floors One and Two. It was more than what they felt outside.
The energy poured into their bodies unconsciously, and they soaked it up like a sponge. Kain almost couldn’t resist the urge to let out a relaxed sigh.
He closed his eyes momentarily, allowing himself to revel in the feeling, then he stopped. He cleared his throat at the others who had gone still. The seven were still with them. Their reactions weren’t as exaggerated as the others’.
At most, it would be a breath of fresh air.
Entering through the door, the difference between Floor Three and Two could be seen. There was no orientation hall, no shared kitchen, no shared bathroom, or anything else that needed to be shared.
The communal area was a large living room with a large kitchen, in case they wanted to cook together. It was much more luxurious than anything they had seen thus far.
Each person had their own private room, bathroom, and workspace. On the left side, close to where they entered, were another set of doors which led to the Combat room, Simulation chamber, and Fitness facilities.
Not to mention, there was a small medical wing that could treat simple injuries.
After a few words of praise, they made their way up to Floor Four.
This was where Jake and Veronica lived. None of the others have had the privilege of accessing this particular place.
There were many of the same things as Floor Three, but the rooms were larger, almost the size of an apartment. There was a section that appeared to be carved out specifically for meetings or communication.
It had radio equipment and monitoring systems.
Because it wasn’t yet in use, there weren’t many things that were visible on the outside.
No one went up to Floor Five. That was Kain and Amelia’s private quarters. Since no one could access it, the tour stopped at Floor Four.
Not wanting to go back downstairs with everyone, Kain had them rest on Floor Four for a moment.
As they sat on the couches and sofas, Kain asked, "So what does everyone think of the new place?"
The constant praises from before arrived, as if on the tip of their tongues. It was Marcus, however, who asked a crucial question. OR rather, he made a statement from his observations.
"It’s bigger on the inside."
Hearing Kain’s remark, they went silent. They had been so excited about the new place that they hadn’t noticed that this was indeed the case.
They thought about all the places they had visited. The combat room, workshops, and research labs. None of them should be able to fit into a building of this size. All eyes turned to Kain.
"Well, at least someone noticed."
"How?" one person asked.
"Think of it as a tesseract. That’s the simplest way I can explain it. Unless you want me to go into the intricacies of spatial dimension."
They didn’t.
Luckily, they didn’t need to know because Kain had no idea how to explain it to them either.
"Many of you have questions," Amelia said. "But not all questions have answers. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is trust. I’m certain Kain won’t lead any of us astray. Many of us are already seeing the benefits.
For today, let’s get rid of our ’sea legs.’ We’ve been out all night, and I’m sure everyone was on high alert. We should get some rest, get used to the new environment, and then we can make plans for the future."
Everyone agreed. The feeling of Source Energy flowing in their veins had long made them want to get up and meditate. Hearing they could go back and choose their room, none of them were willing to stay much longer.
As for those who couldn’t and had to stay on Floor Two, there was food if they needed to eat anything.
Kain, Amelia, and the children made their way up to Floor Five.
The Source Energy here was so dense that the place appeared to be shrouded in mist.
The family of five only took one step inside, and they felt it surging through their bodies. The children became Level 4 users, and Amelia became Level 3. Kain, who had gone looking for a fight, stepped into the realm of Level 5 Awakener.
He felt that if he meditated for a little while, he could reach the Resonant stage. But now wasn’t the time for that.
Awakening is the time of accumulation. There is no reason for him to rush to Resonant.
The changes in his body were more evident than ever before.
Level 5 has always been a complete awakening. From his bones, muscles, and skin, as long as he accumulates enough at this point, when he steps into the Resonant stage, the elements will be easier to control.
The warmth spread through his body, seeping into his muscles, blood, and bone.
Opening his eyes, he saw the rest of his family still immersed in the gentle glow of the Source Energy in their bodies.
They didn’t stay in that state for long. Kain had repeatedly drilled into them not to rush the process.
He had the children find something to do. Today was a lazy day for everyone.
When he and Amelia flopped down on the sofa together, she leaned into his arms.
"How long do you think it will take them to notice we’re the only ones here?"
"You noticed?" Kain asked.
"You underestimate me," she murmured.
"I think they’ll notice tomorrow. When it’s time to eat."
She hummed.
