Chapter 86: Night Fragrance Takes The L
After returning to Selvara’s mountain peak, Damian did not waste any time and wanted to return to his room to fuse with the reward.
However, Selvara was still beside him, so Damian forced himself to remain calm.
At least, he tried.
Selvara looked at him and said, "Return to your room and rest. You used too much Qi today."
Damian immediately cupped his hands. "Yes, Master. Actually, I was just about to ask for permission."
Selvara’s eyes moved toward him. "Permission?"
Damian nodded with a serious expression. "That Golden Core pressure affected me more than I expected. My Qi is messy, my body feels strange, and I need to stabilize myself properly."
He spoke with such a sincere face that even he almost believed it.
But Selvara already knew his real personality, and in the end, she could only sigh. "Go then."
Damian secretly relaxed. "Thank you, Master."
He turned around and walked toward his room, doing his best not to move too quickly.
But inside, he was already laughing. "Good. Now I can absorb it."
Behind him, Selvara watched his back for a few seconds.
Her eyes were calm, but there was a faint trace of thought in them.
This disciple of hers was hiding something.
However, after what happened today, forcing him to speak immediately might not be useful.
Besides, there was another matter that needed attention.
The Night Fragrance Pavilion had dared to send a Golden Core elder after a Heavenly Sword Sect escort team.
And Marden Lou had hidden a Top-Rank Noble Grade pill inside a simple caravan mission.
This matter could not be treated lightly.
Selvara turned away and looked toward the main peak of the Heavenly Sword Sect. "I need to report this to the Sect Master."
With that, her figure blurred slightly.
A silver sword light flashed across the mountain peak.
In the next moment, Selvara disappeared from the courtyard.
Meanwhile, Damian reached his room, shut the door, and immediately placed several small protection talismans around the walls.
Only after confirming that no one was watching did he sit cross-legged on the bed.
His grin finally broke free. "King Grade Chaos Spiritual Root..."
He took a deep breath. "Come on then. Let’s see how crazy this thing really is."
---
Inside the Night Fragrance Pavilion, the atmosphere was extremely heavy.
Several elders sat inside a dark private hall, their expressions uglier than one another.
At the center of the room, an old man in a black robe slammed his palm against the table.
BANG!
"What the hell is going on?"
His voice echoed through the hall.
"Two elders have already died! First, Elder Brok died in that small city, and now Elder Morven is dead too? Just what the hell is happening?"
The servants standing nearby lowered their heads, not daring to breathe too loudly.
One subordinate stepped forward carefully and cupped his hands. "Pavilion Master, we still do not know the full truth."
The black-robed old man’s eyes turned cold. "Then tell me what you do know."
The subordinate swallowed. "Elder Brok responded to a token request. He was supposed to deal with a certain cultivator in that small city, but not long after he arrived, he died."
The hall became even colder.
The subordinate continued, "From what we later investigated, a powerful sword cultivator suddenly appeared and killed him. That sword cultivator seemed to take away a recently rich Foundation Establishment cultivator named Damian."
One elder frowned. "Damian?"
The subordinate nodded. "Yes. He was originally just a lucky cultivator who found some treasure. With that treasure, he apparently managed to get help from that sword cultivator."
Another elder’s face darkened. "And Morven?"
The subordinate quickly answered, "Elder Morven sent a message saying he had found traces of a valuable treasure. After that, he pursued it personally. Then... his life token shattered."
The black-robed old man tapped his fingers against the table, his expression dark. "Which caravan was Elder Morven chasing?"
The subordinate quickly lowered his head. "Pavilion Master, according to the information we gathered, it was a merchant caravan protected by disciples from the Heavenly Sword Sect."
The moment those words came out, the entire hall became quieter. "Heavenly Sword Sect?"
Several elders exchanged glances.
Even the black-robed old man’s expression became more serious.
He slowly leaned back in his chair. "Do you know anything about that powerful sword cultivator?"
The subordinate hesitated before answering, "Not much. We only heard that she is an extremely powerful sword cultivator. Her exact identity is still unknown."
The black-robed old man frowned.
Now one of the deaths was connected to the Heavenly Sword Sect, and that sect was not a weak one.
He became even more furious and slammed the table once again.
BANG!
"Just why the hell is this happening to my pavilion?"
No one dared to answer.
After a long silence, the black-robed old man finally spoke again. "Stop all open actions for now."
The elders looked at him in surprise. "Pavilion Master?"
The black-robed old man said coldly, "Lay low. The Heavenly Sword Sect is not something we can provoke casually."
His voice became heavier. "As for that powerful sword cultivator, do not search for her."
The elders immediately lowered their heads. "Understood."
The black-robed old man’s gaze darkened further. "But Damian is different."
One elder raised his head slightly. "Pavilion Master means..."
The old man narrowed his eyes. "Search for him."
The hall became silent again.
The black-robed old man continued, "That brat may have only used some treasure to buy temporary protection from that sword cultivator. He should not be with her forever."
His fingers slowly clenched against the armrest. "If you find him alone, kill him."
The elders cupped their hands at once. "Yes, Pavilion Master."
The black-robed old man looked toward the dark window of the hall, his eyes filled with cold killing intent. "Two elders dead because of some Foundation Establishment brat..."
His voice became low and dangerous. "Damian, you better pray that sword cultivator can protect you forever. Otherwise, I will make you pay for the deaths of both my elders, whether you are guilty or not."
