Chapter 55: Esmeralda Sells the Good Stuff
Esmeralda smiled after seeing Damian’s shocked expression. "Yes. These three recipes are some of the best Top-Rank Mortal Grade pill recipes our branch can sell."
Damian looked at the three jade slips again, then back at Esmeralda. "You’re really giving me the good stuff this time."
Esmeralda chuckled softly. "Just think of it as my thanks for the gift you gave me last time."
Damian raised an eyebrow. "The Great Flame Sect token?"
Esmeralda nodded gently. "Yes. That token was more useful than you might think. I used it during a discussion with one of my business partners, and it helped smooth over a small matter."
Her emerald eyes curved slightly. "So in a way, Sir Damian has already helped me once."
Damian leaned back and laughed lightly. "I see. Then it seems my gift wasn’t wasted."
"Not at all." Esmeralda smiled. "It was quite useful."
Then her expression became a little apologetic. "But still, I must apologize. Even though your talent is excellent, I still cannot sell you Profound Grade pill recipes right now."
Damian waved his hand casually. "It’s fine. I understand. Inheritances can’t be sold that easily."
Esmeralda’s smile became warmer. "Thank you for understanding."
Damian grinned. "Besides, these three are already good enough for now. Spirit Gathering Pills, Blood Qi Recovery Pills, and Bone Tempering Pills... they are exactly what I need."
For him, these recipes were far more important than they looked.
Once he could refine these pills himself, he would no longer need to buy basic cultivation resources from others all the time.
And with his alchemy talent, he was confident that turning these into Profound Grade recipes would only be a matter of time.
Thinking of that, Damian directly took out the spirit stones and paid without hesitation.
Esmeralda accepted the payment calmly and passed the three jade slips to him. "Then these recipes belong to you now."
Damian stored them carefully into his storage ring.
Then he suddenly remembered something and looked at her again. "Right, I also want to buy some other Top-Rank Profound Grade pills."
Esmeralda nodded lightly. "Of course. What kind?"
Damian rubbed his chin. "Ten of any pills that you think are useful and rare."
Esmeralda smiled. "That can be arranged."
She lightly rang the small bell beside her, and soon, the attendant entered the room.
Esmeralda spoke calmly, "Prepare several bottles of rare Top-Rank Profound Grade pills for Sir Damian."
The attendant bowed immediately. "Yes, Manager."
Damian nodded in satisfaction.
Esmeralda looked at him with amusement. "Sir Damian truly spends money without hesitation."
Damian grinned. "Money is meant to be used. Besides, good resources create good results."
Esmeralda chuckled softly. "A very cultivator-like answer."
Damian smiled. "Then I must be improving."
As the attendant left to fetch the pills, Damian leaned back comfortably.
This trip to the Golden Medicine Pavilion had turned out even better than expected.
---
While waiting for the attendant to return, Damian casually looked at Esmeralda and suddenly asked, "By the way, Manager Esmeralda, can I ask you something?"
Esmeralda smiled faintly. "Of course, Sir Damian. Ask away."
Damian leaned back slightly and looked at her with curiosity. "Why are you in this small city?"
Esmeralda raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Damian smiled. "I mean, looking at you, you’re beautiful, young, and already at the Ninth Stage Foundation Establishment Realm. You’re clearly not an ordinary person."
His eyes narrowed slightly. "Someone like you managing a branch in this small city feels a bit strange, doesn’t it?"
Esmeralda stared at him for a moment before suddenly chuckling softly. "Sir Damian really does speak directly."
Damian shrugged. "I like asking what I want to know."
Esmeralda gently swirled the tea in her cup and smiled. "There is nothing too mysterious about it. It is simply a job from my family."
Damian was a bit shocked and soon raised his eyebrow. "Your family?"
Esmeralda nodded. "Yes. My family has some connection to the Golden Medicine Pavilion, so I was sent to inspect and manage several branches for a period of time."
She looked at Damian calmly. "As you already know, the Golden Medicine Pavilion is very large. A small city branch like this may look unimportant, but every branch still needs someone reliable to check on it."
Damian slowly nodded. "I see. I already heard from my disciple just how great the Golden Medicine Pavilion is."
Esmeralda’s smile deepened slightly. "Your disciple seems quite knowledgeable."
Damian grinned. "Yeah. She’s useful."
Esmeralda chuckled. "Then you have a good disciple."
Damian nodded proudly. "Of course she is."
But inwardly, his thoughts were already moving quickly. "Great family connection, high cultivation, Noble Grade Spiritual Root... No wonder she has a 100× multiplier, but..."
His gaze quietly returned to Esmeralda. "The real question is... what kind of gift should I give this emerald treasure chest this time?"
But before Damian could think further, a light knock came from the door.
Esmeralda glanced over calmly. "Come in."
The door opened, and the attendant entered respectfully while carrying a tray with several jade bottles arranged neatly on top. "Manager, the pills have been prepared."
Esmeralda nodded. "Place them here."
The attendant carefully placed the tray on the table before stepping back.
Damian looked at the jade bottles with interest as faint medicinal fragrances drifted from each one, even though they were sealed.
Esmeralda pointed at them lightly. "These are all Top-Rank Profound Grade pills. Some are for cultivation, some are for recovery, and some are rarer support pills."
Damian raised an eyebrow. "Support pills?"
Esmeralda smiled. "Yes. Pills that stabilize the mind, strengthen meridians, calm chaotic Qi, or temporarily improve flame control during refinement."
The moment Damian heard the last part, his eyes brightened slightly. "Flame control, huh?"
Esmeralda noticed his reaction and smiled faintly. "Since Sir Damian wants to walk the path of alchemy, I thought these might be useful."
Damian grinned. "Manager Esmeralda, you’re really good at business."
Esmeralda chuckled softly. "Naturally. After all, Sir Damian is quite the genius. I have high expectations for you."
Damian grinned. "Then I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed."
