Villain Ch 976. Complexity

The time was almost 5 PM. Allen was already seated in front of his computer, the screen glowing softly. He had just taken a bath, leaving his skin feeling fresh and his hair slightly damp. Though he had opted for a casual look—his favorite in-house style of a T-shirt and sweatpants—he had taken the extra step of applying his favorite cologne, the subtle scent mingling pleasantly with the air.

The room around him had been tidied and decorated by the servants, a few thoughtful touches added to set the mood for the night ahead. Everything was in place, ready for the evening with the girls, but first, he had this meeting to attend.

Allen adjusted the headset microphone on his head. His mouse moved smoothly across the pad as he clicked on the link for the online meeting. He had expected to be the first to arrive, given that there were still a few minutes before 5 PM. His curiosity had driven him to log on early; he was eager to know what the developers had to say about the petitions and what this might mean for his character.

But as the screen loaded, he realized he wasn’t alone. There, on the other side of the virtual meeting space, was Kafra. Her image flickered slightly on his monitor, and she met his gaze with a flat stare, full of judgment. A dry smile played on her lips, one that didn’t reach her eyes.

"Oh, hey, Kafra," Allen greeted her with an awkward smile, raising his hand in a half-hearted wave.

Kafra’s expression didn’t soften. If anything, it became even more severe. "Don’t ’hey’ me, YOUNG MASTER," she said, her voice cool and authoritative. The emphasis on "Young Master" made Allen wince internally. It was a not-so-subtle reminder of his status within the company and the game.

Allen cringed. ’Damn… she looks pissed off already,’ he thought. Somehow he felt like a bastard young master from a random wuxia story.

"I told you, Allen," Kafra began, her tone filled with the kind of frustration that comes from having said something too many times before. "You are the game’s main villain. Just act like one. But you keep seducing the players."

Allen’s eyebrows shot up in surprise, a mix of confusion and defensiveness flaring up inside him. "I’m not seducing players," he retorted quickly, his voice tinged with indignation. "I’m only seducing my own girls."

Kafra didn’t miss a beat, her icy gaze locking onto him with laser-like precision. "But you did it in front of the players," she countered, her tone unyielding. "It’s the same thing."

Allen opened his mouth to protest but found himself at a loss for words. The truth was, he hadn’t fully considered how his in-game actions might be perceived by others. To him, interacting with his companions—his girls—was just part of the role he played.

"But my girls are also seducing me," Allen protested, leaning back in his chair with a frown. "And we act like real villains. I act like a brutal devil emperor—I’m shameless, cruel, killing players without reason, and acting like a real psychopath." He was grasping at straws, trying to justify the way things had escalated. "Oh, and playboy! Read exclusive adventures at freewebnovel

Girls hate playboys, right?" he added, snapping his fingers as if he’d just made a brilliant point.

But Kafra’s expression remained unchanged, her gaze steady and unimpressed. "They hate it if that playboy is ugly, broke, acts like a coward, or is weak," she explained, her tone calm but firm. "But your Devil Emperor? He’s showing something completely different." She paused, letting her words sink in. "That’s what attracts the girls—and the boys," she added pointedly.

Allen frowned, about to argue that it wasn’t possible. "That’s not—" he started, but Kafra cut him off before he could finish.

"If you think it’s impossible, why do you think kings and generals in the past had many wives?" Kafra asked, her voice taking on a lecturing tone.

"Because of political marriages?" Allen guessed, his brow furrowing as he tried to understand where she was going with this.

Kafra nodded slightly, acknowledging his point but not letting him off the hook. "Sure, that’s part of it. But then what about billionaires who have many girlfriends?" she continued, her gaze unwavering as she waited for his response.

Allen opened his mouth to respond, but no words came out. He was speechless, the logic hitting him harder than he’d expected. He had never thought about it that way, never considered that his character’s power, confidence, and ruthlessness could be seen as attractive traits, drawing people in rather than repelling them.

Kafra leaned closer to the camera, her expression softening just a bit. "Allen, your Devil Emperor isn’t just a villain in the traditional sense. He’s powerful, confident, and completely in control. He doesn’t just rule through fear; he commands respect. People are drawn to that. They’re fascinated by it.

It’s why the fanbase is so intense, and why they want more than just to see him as a distant, untouchable figure."

Allen sighed, rubbing the back of his neck as he processed her words. "I guess I never really thought about it that way. I was just trying to play the role, you know? Be as ruthless and intimidating as possible."

"And you did," Kafra acknowledged, her voice softening further. "But in doing that, you created something more complex. People see layers in your character, and they want to explore those layers. That’s why the petitions exist, and why this meeting is so important."

Allen nodded slowly, his mind still grappling with the implications. "So, you’re saying that by being the most feared villain, I’ve somehow become… attractive?"

Kafra smiled dryly, a hint of amusement in her eyes. "Exactly. You’ve made the Devil Emperor more than just a villain. You’ve made him someone people are drawn to, whether they fear him or… want something more."

Allen leaned back in his chair, feeling a mix of relief and frustration. "But that means it’s not my fault," he said, trying to find a way to distance himself from the unintended consequences.
