Chapter 139: Why Can’t I Mark You?
The door violently shattered off its hinges, the wood exploding inward.
Before Damian could even register the sound, a terrifying, monstrous wave of energy flooded the room. The air grew instantly heavy as lead, the suffocating, freezing pressure of winter-frost pheromones crushing the atmosphere.
Dorrent Grefo stepped through the doorway, his silver eyes flashing with a sudden, demonic crimson light, his handsome features twisted into a mask of murderous savagery. He didn’t speak a single word. With a single, lightning-fast stride, he crossed the room, his hand shooting forward like a striking viper. He grabbed Damian by the back of his collar and violently hurled him backward.
The supernatural force of the throw sent Damian flying across the wide room. His body crashed heavily into the opposite wall, shattering a glass cabinet filled with vials before he slumped onto the floor, groaning in agony.
Without missing a beat, Dorrent spun around and threw his heavy body on top of the shocked, screaming Jannah. His crushing weight pinned her into the mattress, trapping her casted arm and her healing ribs beneath his chest.
"Dorrent, no—!" Jannah shrieked, her eyes flying open in terror.
But she was far too late. Dorrent leaned down, his jaw locking with primal ferocity as he buried his face into the right side of her neck. He opened his mouth wide and sank his long, razor-sharp canines deep into her pale flesh, biting into her virgin scent gland with crushing dominance.
"AHHHHHHH!!!"
Jannah let out a piercing, agonizing scream that echoed off the walls of the room, her left hand clawing frantically at the fabric of his shirt as a sudden, devastating wave of energy was forcefully pumped straight into her bloodstream. The overwhelming power of his frequency sent her internal temperature skyrocketing instantly; her body grew hot, a burning heat radiating from the puncture wounds and coursing through every single nerve ending. Within seconds, the magnitude of the energy transfer overwhelmed her nervous system, and her limbs went completely limp against the sheets, her head falling back as her vision began to blur.
Suddenly, a white halo of concentrated Alpha light erupted from the point of their connection. The radiant, supernatural glow expanded rapidly, enveloping Dorrent and Jannah in a shimmering, impenetrable sphere of energy, binding their frequencies together in a forced synchronization.
On the other side of the room, Damian pushed himself up from the shattered glass, his chest heaving as his own Alpha instincts screamed at the sight of his mate to be being stolen before his very eyes. "Get off her!!!" Damian roared, his eyes flashing golden as he forced himself onto his feet, charging violently toward the bed with his fists raised, desperate to rip the tycoon away from Jannah’s body.
The moment Damian’s hands touched the outer edge of the halo, the concentrated energy violently discharged.
BOOM!
A powerful, electric shockwave blasted outward from the light, hitting Damian full force in the chest. The impact lifted his entire frame off his feet, sending him flying backward through the open doorway. His rigid body crashed directly through the hallway partition, skidding heavily across the floor of the grand corridor outside.
The deafening force of the explosion and Damian’s crashing body instantly brought the rest of the household running. Guron Grefo and his wife Himelda rushed out of their wing, their faces pale with shock, while Shadron came sprint-charging up the grand staircase. They all stopped dead in their tracks at the sight of Damian lying broken and trembling on the floor, coughing up blood.
Himelda’s eyes flew past the bleeding Alpha, locking onto the ruined doorway of the room where the white light was actively pulsing, illuminating the entire corridor with a supernatural glow. Through the ruined frame, she could clearly see the silhouette of her son pinned on top of the girl, his teeth embedded in her neck.
"No... NO!!!" Himelda yelled, a sharp, piercing shriek of horror escaping her lips. Her face twisted into panic as she began to charge toward the room, her hands reaching out to intervene. "Dorrent! Stop this madness right now! You cannot do this!"
Before she could take three steps, Guron’s grip snapped around her wrist, jerking her backward and pinning her against his chest.
"Let go of me, Guron!" Himelda screamed, thrashing wildly against her husband’s hold as tears of rage spilled down her cheeks. "Let me go! He is destroying his life! He is binding himself to that cursed girl from the gutters! We have to stop it!"
"Control yourself, Himelda!" Guron roared back, his voice an unshakeable command. He held her frame against his chest, his eyes fixed on the pulsing light with seriousness. "You cannot intervene until they are done! The energy field is unstable. If you touch that halo right now, the backlash will tear your system apart, and withdrawing our son before the synchronization finishes will weaken him! He will become sick, his energy reserves will fracture, and he might never recover! You stay right here!"
"No! No way!" Himelda shrieked desperately, her voice breaking into a weeping wail as she watched the light pulse with increasing intensity. "He can’t mark her! She will ruin him!"
Guron didn’t listen to her cries. He snapped his head around, his gaze locking onto the terrified childhood friend standing near the stairs. "Shadron! Close that door right now! Stand guard outside and ensure nobody enters that room until the light dissipates! Do you understand me?!"
"Yes, Sir!" Shadron barked, his face pale as he rushed forward, grabbing the door and pulling it shut across the frame, blocking the horrifying sight from the rest of the villa.
Guron turned and began to drag his hysterical, weeping wife back toward their quarters, her desperate screams slowly fading down the long hallway. Damian Boren slowly pushed himself up from the floor, his body trembling from the electric backlash, his eyes burning with hatred as he stared at the closed door. Knowing he was completely outmatched and powerless against the barrier, he turned on his heel and staggered blindly toward the main exit of the estate, his mind set on reaching his father’s compound.
Inside the sealed room, the suffocating heat showed no signs of stopping. Jannah lay pinned beneath Dorrent’s frame, her mind drifting in a sea of molten gold. Her skin felt like it was on fire, her heart hammering at a dangerous rhythm as Dorrent continued to pour his overwhelming reserves into her system, desperately trying to force the biological bond to form.
They stayed like that for what felt like an eternity, the halo slowly pulsing, the air thick with the heavy scent of winter-frost and blood.
Then, slowly, the light began to flicker. The white aura grew dimmer and dimmer until it completely faded into the dim shadows of the room.
Dorrent slowly withdrew his teeth from the bloody puncture wounds on her neck. His frame was visibly trembling, his chest heaving with ragged gasps as if he had just run a marathon. He looked completely drained, hid reserves exhausted, but his handsome face was twisted into a mask of fury.
He pushed himself up slightly on his elbows, hovering over her limp, sweating body. His eyes burned down into her pale, half-conscious face with a terrifying, dangerous intensity. He stared at the bloody marks on her neck, his jaw locking so tight the bone threatened to snap, before his voice cut through the silence of the room.
"Why can’t I mark you?"
