Chapter 104: Chapter 104: Shameless

Thanks to Shen Daoxing and Bai Yi’s plundering, the Spirit Medicine Garden had been stripped of most of its Immortal Grass, leaving only seedlings that had yet to fully mature.

"Let’s go! The Steward Disciples will be back from their shift change any minute!"

Bai Yi nodded, satisfied as he looked upon his handiwork. He then grabbed Shen Daoxing and scurried away just before the Steward Disciples returned.

Once they reached a deserted area, Bai Yi flew up on his sword. But instead of leaving Celestial City Mountain, he brought Shen Daoxing down into another valley.

Just as Shen Daoxing landed, he saw a snow-white Spirit Deer lapping water from a small stream. Behind it, a herd of three-horned, dark-skinned Dry Land Barbarian Oxen were grazing on the grass.

Not far off, three-eyed Demon Sheep ambled about leisurely.

Bai Yi led Shen Daoxing as they quietly snuck past the Garden Keeper and slipped inside.

Then, with the ease of long familiarity, he began to introduce the beasts:

"That’s a Snow Moon Spirit Deer. Not only is its meat incredibly delicious, but it can also bolster one’s cultivation. A truly rare Spirit Beast!"

"Those are Dry Land Barbarian Oxen. Their defenses are incredibly strong. Soaking in their blood can drastically alter your constitution and significantly boost your physical defenses. They’re also rare Spirit Beasts."

"And those three-eyed Demon Sheep... if you eat the eye on their foreheads, it can improve your eyesight and help cultivate ocular abilities."

As he spoke of the Snow Moon Spirit Deer, Bai Yi couldn’t help but lick his lips. He’d clearly eaten his fair share in the past.

"Elder Bai, is this really your first time here?"

Shen Daoxing couldn’t hold back a laugh.

Hearing this, Bai Yi immediately put on a serious expression and said with a straight face, "Of course it is!"

But the moment he finished speaking, he pulled a brown cloth bag from his robes.

He tossed the bag lightly into the air, and it suddenly expanded, instantly ensnaring the Snow Moon Spirit Deer that was drinking by the stream.

The Snow Moon Spirit Deer struggled violently within the bag, but as the bag shrank, the commotion inside eventually ceased.

"Looks like we’re eating well tonight."

With a beckoning gesture, Bai Yi called the brown bag back into his hand.

Then, he swiped a hand inside his robes again, and a dozen or so more brown bags appeared in his hand. He had clearly come prepared.

"Here! Don’t be shy. Go nuts."

Bai Yi handed him several of the bags.

Since these were all Spirit Beasts from Celestial City Academy, Shen Daoxing certainly wasn’t going to be polite. He took the bags and immediately began capturing the creatures in the Spirit Beast Garden.

Just like that, without a soul noticing, a huge number of Spirit Beasts from the Celestial City Academy’s Spirit Beast Garden ended up in Shen Daoxing’s and Bai Yi’s possession.

Before long, Shen Daoxing’s waist was laden with bulging bags.

"Alright, this many Spirit Beasts should be enough to keep the Sword Institute fed for some time."

Bai Yi nodded, and was just about to lead Shen Daoxing away stealthily.

"Who’s there? Who dares cause trouble at our Celestial City Academy!"

At that moment, a cold voice rang out. Shen Daoxing looked toward the sound and saw a tall, thin Steward Disciple from Celestial City Academy slowly emerging.

When he saw Shen Daoxing, he froze. "It’s you, Shen Daoxing! So! We at Celestial City Academy have tolerated you time and time again, yet you still dare to come here and run wild!"

Shen Daoxing blinked, then turned to look for Bai Yi, only to find that the man had already vanished. ’Where did he hide?’

"..."

Shen Daoxing was speechless.

With a flip of his palm, the Steward Disciple summoned a fiery red longsword and lunged forward with a menacing thrust.

Shen Daoxing, completely unfazed, gave the Steward Disciple a cold look.

The Steward Disciple saw a flash of black light, and a pitch-black greatsword came smashing toward him. BANG! The longsword in his hand was shattered to pieces.

A sweet taste rose in his throat, and he spewed a mouthful of fresh blood before collapsing to the ground.

"What? You want to challenge me to a duel to the death?"

Shen Daoxing said coldly.

The Steward Disciple couldn’t help but shudder. He remembered the battle on Celestial Capital Mountain Peak the day before. He had been there and witnessed Shen Daoxing’s terrifying power firsthand.

’Even Luo Fei died at his hands. How could I possibly be a match for him?’

’A duel to the death means one of us dies!’

The Steward Disciple froze on the spot.

Seeing the Steward Disciple standing there dumbfounded, Shen Daoxing swaggered right past him, their shoulders brushing.

The Steward Disciple didn’t dare move a muscle.

"How dare you, Shen Daoxing! We already spared you once on Celestial Capital Mountain Peak yesterday, and now you have the gall to come to our Spirit Beast Garden! This is outrageous!"

Suddenly, an aged voice rang out. An old man with salt-and-pepper hair appeared nearby. It was one of the Spirit Transformation realm elders who had been on Celestial Capital Mountain Peak the day before.

"Elder Xu!"

The Steward Disciple’s face lit up with joy at the sight of the newcomer.

As soon as the elder appeared, he thrust out a palm strike with the force to split mountains and part seas, attacking with overwhelming momentum.

However, before he could complete the attack, a snow-white longsword shot out from nearby and struck him.

The elder spat out a large mouthful of blood and was sent flying.

Then, Bai Yi slowly emerged from the nearby woods.

The elder looked over in astonishment. He saw Bai Yi, his waist laden with bulging bags, walk up to Shen Daoxing’s side.

Realization dawned, and the elder’s eyes widened.

"Bai Yi, you are the Grand Elder of the Sword Institute! How could you bring your own disciple to Celestial City Academy to steal our Spirit Beasts? Have you no shame!"

Bai Yi lifted his gourd, took a swig of wine, and chuckled. "Oh, come now. Celestial City Academy is so rich and powerful. Why be so stingy? You can’t even spare a few Spirit Beasts? It’s not like we won’t give them back. When we’re done eating, we’ll return the bones! How’s that?"

With a faint smile, Bai Yi grabbed Shen Daoxing, leaped onto his sword, and flew away with a SWOOSH.

"You... Bai Yi, you shameless rogue!"

The elder was so enraged that he coughed up another mouthful of blood.

Not long after Shen Daoxing and Bai Yi departed, a furious roar suddenly echoed from another valley in Celestial City Academy. "Who was it?! Who in the hell was it?! Who raided my Spirit Medicine Garden!"

The roar shook the surrounding forest, sending flocks of birds scattering into the air in alarm.

...

「On the Desolate Mountain.」

A large cauldron had been set up in front of the thatched hut.

Inside, succulent and tempting Snow Moon Spirit Deer Meat stewed, emitting a soul-refreshing aroma. Spirit Grass had been added as well, further enhancing the exquisite flavor of the meat.

He Ku took a deep sniff, his face a picture of bliss. "Wow! That smells amazing! Elder Bai, what kind of beast meat is this? It’s so enticing!"

"He the Kid, just dig in. Weren’t you complaining that you couldn’t get enough to eat at the Sword Institute? Well, eat your fill now. If there’s not enough, I’ll go catch more."

As he spoke, Bai Yi couldn’t resist fishing a leg out of the cauldron and, washing it down with wine, began to eat with gusto.

Beside them, Shen Daoxing was eating like a storm. Not only was the Snow Moon Spirit Deer Meat incredibly delicious, but it could also significantly boost his cultivation. There was no way he would let any of it go to waste.

Seeing this, He Ku swallowed hard, scooped up a piece of Spirit Deer Meat, and eagerly began to chow down.

"Delicious! This is simply divine!"

He exclaimed in endless delight.
