Chapter 568: Chapter 565: Don’t Posture

In the past, Gu Peng and Gu Lele would have had to kneel and bow upon seeing Gu Weitian. But now, they stood on equal footing.

Gu Weitian’s intimidating presence still lingered, and Gu Lele nervously ducked her head and hid behind Gu Peng, not daring to meet his gaze.

Although Gu Peng wasn’t quite as intimidated, he still felt immense pressure.

He kept reminding himself, ’I’ve already left the Gu Family! I’m with Mo Qi now, a member of Uncle Niu’s Kitchen God restaurant!’

’Other than Mo Qi, no one can make me bow my head!’

With that thought, Gu Peng forced himself to calm down. He looked Gu Weitian straight in the eye, determined to treat him as he would any other guest.

"Welcome to the VIP area. This way, please."

With that, he moved to lead them into a private room.

Gu Weitian, of course, recognized the brother and sister, and his face darkened in displeasure.

It was true that he had personally crippled Gu Peng, an act tantamount to expelling him from the Gu Family. But Mo Qi had later saved him. Worse, over the matter with Gu Lele, Mo Qi had extorted a fortune from them.

In Gu Weitian’s eyes, the two siblings were nothing but traitors to the family!

There was another person in the group whose expression was just as grim: Feng Gong.

Feng Qing’s Dragon Elephant Bloodline was now inside Gu Peng’s body, and it had fused with him perfectly.

Even if they managed to kill Mo Qi and capture Gu Peng alive in the future, there would be no way to extract the Dragon Elephant Bloodline.

In other words, his second son, Feng Qing, was completely beyond hope.

"Gu Weitian, your Gu Family has certainly raised a fine pair of talents!" Feng Gong sneered.

Starting a fight in the restaurant to vent his anger was out of the question, so he could only aim his barbs at Gu Weitian.

Gu Weitian’s expression turned cold. "Feng Gong, you’d best watch your mouth. Don’t think that just because you’re the City Lord you can run your mouth off in front of me with that passive-aggressive nonsense. Your son extracted the Dragon Elephant Bloodline himself to save his own life."

"Besides..." He glanced at the brother and sister. "These two haven’t been part of the Gu Family for a long time!"

"Gu Weitian, what do you mean by that?" Feng Gong raged.

Qin Hai and He Jincheng quickly intervened. "We’re all in the same boat now. Let’s let bygones be bygones. There’s no use talking about it anymore. We should focus all our energy on the task ahead."

Neither Gu Weitian nor Feng Gong was an unreasonable man. They had simply been provoked too many times and had lost control of their emotions.

With Mo Qi as their common enemy, there was no need for infighting.

Gu Peng comforted Gu Lele as he led Qin Hai’s group of four into the private room.

He, who had been a bit nervous at first, found himself completely calm after hearing Gu Weitian and Feng Gong argue.

Gu Lele was no longer as frightened as before, either.

She took out a ledger, flipped to a new page, picked up her pen, and asked softly, "What kind of custom service will you be requiring?"

Gu Weitian glared at Gu Lele. "What would a little slip of a girl with no Cultivation know? Have Mo Qi come himself!"

Although many people had enjoyed the custom service over the past half-month, the details of what it entailed had never spread. All anyone knew was that it was expensive—so incredibly expensive that even an Immortal might not be able to afford it after liquidating all their assets.

So how could Gu Weitian and the others possibly trust Gu Lele to handle their needs?

It would be far more reassuring to have Mo Qi handle this personally.

"I only handle the registration, so whether I have Cultivation or not won’t affect the final result." Having calmed down, Gu Lele shed her previous timidity. Her tone and expression were now even more natural than Gu Peng’s.

’I want to become a powerful Cultivator!’ she reminded herself. ’I don’t want my brother to keep struggling and risking his life for me anymore! I want to help him! I have to repay Brother Mo! If I can’t even handle a small task like this, how will I ever achieve those goals?’

"I said, get Mo Qi! This is the VIP area. Are a couple of small fry like you even qualified to serve us?" Gu Weitian snarled in a low, cold voice.

The truth was, he simply didn’t want to lay eyes on the siblings, afraid he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from attacking them.

SLAM! Gu Lele snapped the ledger shut, her smile vanishing. "I am in charge of the VIP area. That is the rule of our restaurant. It seems our guests didn’t take Brother Mo’s words from the grand opening to heart. The exit is that way. I won’t be seeing you out!"

Seeing Gu Lele ready to throw them out at the slightest disagreement, not only were Gu Weitian and his companions stunned, but even Gu Peng was completely dumbfounded.

’Wasn’t this girl just hiding behind me a moment ago?’

’How did she suddenly become so assertive?’

Gu Weitian’s expression was as foul as if he’d swallowed a fly. Veins throbbed on his forehead; he was clearly suppressing his rage.

’An ant with no Cultivation dares to speak to me like this!’

’This is intolerable!’

Just then, a figure appeared in the private room. It was Mo Qi himself.

"Since my guests so strongly insist on my personal service, as the owner of this restaurant, I should oblige you," Mo Qi said with a smile.

Gu Lele, who had been so imperious just a moment ago, now looked like a startled kitten. She jumped up from her chair, face flushed, head bowed, and hands twisted together. She was just like a child who had done something wrong, not daring to meet an adult’s gaze.

She thought Mo Qi had appeared because she hadn’t handled the guests properly.

"Brother Mo, I’m sorry, I..."

Just as Gu Lele was about to apologize, Mo Qi stopped her by ruffling her hair.

"Silly girl, you did great. There’s no need to apologize."

Gu Lele froze, stunned by the unexpected head pat. Her mind went blank, and the blush on her face spread all the way to the base of her neck.

She didn’t hear a single word Mo Qi said after that. When Gu Peng pulled her aside, she just stood there in a daze.

"Well, gentlemen, I’m here now. Tell me what you need."

Mo Qi beamed at Gu Weitian’s group of four. His gaze swept over each of them before finally resting on Qin Hai.

It only lingered for a moment, however, before Mo Qi looked away.

Qin Hai’s heart skipped a beat.

When Mo Qi had looked at him just now, he’d had the unnerving feeling of being seen through completely.

’Impossible!’

’Even Elder Ku Mu didn’t notice anything wrong. How could this kid possibly see through me?’

’It must be my imagination!’

Out of an abundance of caution, Qin Hai stared intently at Mo Qi, hoping to read something in his expression.

However, Mo Qi’s expression was perfectly natural, revealing not the slightest hint of anything amiss.

Qin Hai relaxed. ’It seems I was overthinking things,’ he thought.

"Mo Qi, since you had the nerve to open a VIP area, can’t you tell what we need?" Feng Gong shot back.

Mo Qi smiled faintly. "Of course I can. The thing is, you all have so many problems, I don’t know which one you want to solve first."

Feng Gong laughed. "So many problems? That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard! We possess the bodies of Immortals, long since free from all illness and calamity. What could a mere mortal like you possibly understand?"

"Oh." Mo Qi shrugged. "If you think a mere mortal like me doesn’t understand anything, then what are you doing in my restaurant’s VIP area? You can leave now."

Mo Qi had no intention of putting up with Feng Gong’s attitude.

’Coming to my VIP area means you need something from me. And since you need something from me, you’d better show the proper attitude!’

’Stop acting so high and mighty in front of me!’
