Chapter 455: Chapter 452: The Game Begins

The Immortals’ faces changed drastically at the sight. They retreated at once, not daring to linger for even a moment.

Their numbers were incomplete. If the giant wolf went on a killing spree, they wouldn’t stand a chance.

Fortunately, the giant wolf showed no signs of anger, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Mo Qi and the Pig Emperor exchanged a look. It seemed that the Nether Race Demon Beast called "Ah Bai" hadn’t given the Wolf Demon a hard time.

In that case, they would probably have to resort to the worst-case scenario—disguising themselves as members of the Dragon Race.

After all, Mo Qi’s Realm was still low. His disguise might fool the Wolf Demon, but if he were taken to the Demon Race’s territory and encountered a real member of the Dragon Race, he would be exposed instantly.

At that point, in the eyes of humans, he would be a Dragon Race Demon Beast; in the eyes of Demon Beasts, he would be an imposter.

He would likely find himself in an impossible situation, unable to please either side, and could even face the tragic fate of being hunted by both humans and the Demon Race simultaneously.

Therefore, unless it was absolutely necessary, Mo Qi didn’t want to take that step.

Now, all he could do was wait and see which way things would develop.

"That piece of trash Huangfu Zhong might not have been very capable, but he’s more than enough to serve as nourishment."

The giant wolf appeared and spat out a figure from its mouth. It was none other than Huangfu Yu, whom it had taken away earlier.

"The little one from Beast Mountain is dead. You can’t have anything happen to you, or the Holy Beast will not forgive me."

The giant wolf murmured, raised its claw, and slapped the red fluid into the space between Huangfu Yu’s eyebrows.

Huangfu Yu’s nearly unfocused pupils immediately constricted and sharpened.

BOOM!

Two glints of bloody light appeared in his eyes, and a thick, metallic scent of blood emanated from within Huangfu Yu’s body.

The long-dormant Asura Blood Pupils opened once more.

In an instant, Huangfu Yu’s injuries were almost completely healed.

WHOOSH!

Accompanied by the sound of crashing waves, roiling clouds of blood surged across the sky above, sending down streams of Essence Energy that flowed into Huangfu Yu’s body.

"Hah!"

Huangfu Yu roared, sending out powerful ripples of energy.

As his voice faded, he shot a cold glance at Mo Qi before sitting down cross-legged and entering a state of deep Cultivation.

Although he desperately wanted to get revenge on Mo Qi, he had discovered that his Asura Bloodline was actually showing signs of advancing, so he forced himself to hold back.

The Wolf Demon nodded in satisfaction at this. It waved its claw, and the Treasure Tower Immortal Artifact flew out from a corner, transforming into a shield of light that enveloped and protected Huangfu Yu.

Huangfu Zhong’s guess before he died had been correct.

The Wolf Demon was indeed the one who had disabled the Treasure Tower Immortal Artifact, and it had deliberately allowed him to be killed.

Its purpose was to use Huangfu Zhong’s Immortal Body Essence and Bloodline Power to nourish Huangfu Yu, accelerating his transformation and preventing the Demon Race’s grand plan from being delayed.

Watching Huangfu Yu’s aura gradually strengthen, the Wolf Demon smiled faintly. Everything was still under control.

Now then, it was time for the real show to begin!

The Wolf Demon turned around, its gaze sweeping over each of the Immortals before finally landing on Liu Ruyan’s face.

"Everyone, get ready!" the Liu Family Immortal shouted.

The powerful experts simultaneously infused their bodies with Immortal Power, forming a united front to surround the many juniors in their midst.

One Immortal Artifact after another appeared, flooding the area with a murderous intent that rivaled the giant wolf’s powerful aura.

The giant wolf was stunned for a moment, then sneered, "You don’t actually think you can contend with me like this, do you?"

With that, the giant wolf took a step forward, its aura surging explosively.

The Immortals immediately felt the pressure multiply, as if several great mountains were weighing down on them.

If they hadn’t joined forces, the giant wolf’s aura alone would have been enough to crush them.

’So strong! Just too powerful!’

’Is this really just a Dharma Body?’

The Immortals couldn’t help but start to wonder.

’Hmph. If it weren’t for Lord Bai’s restrictions, I could crush them with a wave of my hand!’ the giant wolf thought to itself.

Ah Bai wouldn’t allow it to use its Immortal Level power, so releasing its aura was the most it could do.

Of course, it certainly wasn’t going to mention that.

"Don’t say I’m just bullying you because I’m stronger." The Wolf Demon suddenly retracted its aura.

The Immortals felt their bodies lighten. Before they could even sigh in relief, they heard the Wolf Demon continue, "Let’s play a game."

"You’ve been busy for so long, wasn’t it all to enter the Demon Spirit Battlefield? You’ll be meeting the Little Demons of my race there anyway."

"Since a battle is inevitable sooner or later, why not have it right here, right now, ahead of schedule."

As it spoke, the Wolf Demon raised its claw and swatted at the empty air.

Intricate patterns lit up on the Wolf Demon’s clawed arm as it struck the void.

A powerful summoning force transmitted through space to an unknown, extremely distant place.

CRACK!

Several blinding lights shot over from the direction of the summons, tearing through space and descending upon the island.

RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE!

The ground trembled slightly as demonic energy surged to the heavens.

When the light subsided, five figures of various shapes and sizes appeared before everyone.

The most conspicuous was a massive Minotaur, thirty feet tall and wearing a straw raincoat.

Perched on the Minotaur’s left shoulder was a Peng Bird with wings that shimmered with golden light.

At its feet was a turtle as large as a bathtub, its body covered in spikes, standing upright.

Next to the turtle stood two young men. One had a full head of blue hair, thick eyebrows, and large eyes. He had a powerful build, and the clear lines of his well-defined muscles were visible even through his thick robes.

The other had snow-white hair and a gaunt face, but his eyes were sharp and spirited, giving him an incredibly capable and refined appearance.

"So this is a human settlement? It doesn’t look like much," the Minotaur spoke in human tongue, its voice deep and resonant, like the beating of a great drum.

"It’s all shabby and rundown. A far cry from what I expected," the Peng Bird with the shimmering golden wings said casually, tilting its head.

The remaining turtle and the two human-like beings didn’t speak, but the disdain in their eyes was completely undisguised.

"Alright, I didn’t bring you here to make comments. Get ready to do what you came for. While this may not be much of a trial or challenge for you, it’s still an experience and a mission."

The giant wolf said with a chiding laugh, then looked toward Mo Qi and the others.

"These five are some of the more decent Little Demons from my race’s younger generation. They will be the ones to play the game with you. The rules are simple: you bet your lives."

"Your human younger generation can send out anyone to fight."

"It’ll be one-on-one, for a total of five rounds. Each round has two opportunities to propose a duel with a wager. That means, in theory, there will be ten duels."

"For every match you win, ten percent of you will be allowed to live. For every match you lose, I will randomly kill ten percent of you."

"The combatants on both sides may not use any external power that exceeds their own Realm, but the method of dueling is not restricted."

"Alright, I’ll give you two minutes to think it over. The game begins in two minutes."

After speaking, the Wolf Demon blew a breath at the messy ground, clearing out an empty space ten li across.

It then retreated to the side, closed its eyes, and feigned sleep.

The Immortals from the Hall of Envoys were dumbfounded.

They had been prepared for a great battle, but who would have thought that things would turn out like this?

"So what’s the call? Do we fight, or do we play this game of life and death like that Wolf Demon said?"

While the powerful experts were discussing their options, Mo Qi had already walked out onto the empty clearing.

The corners of his mouth turned up in a strange smile as he asked, "We can propose any terms for the duel, is that right?"
