Chapter 178: Bow to Buddha
The atmosphere of the Battle God Arena remained heated long after Emma Rock’s shocking victory over Mark Smith.
The Imperial Family supporters were still struggling to accept reality.
The Healing Tower disciples continued celebrating loudly.
Meanwhile, the projection screens throughout the arena displayed the next battle.
Tony Clark.
Versus.
The Bald Monk.
The moment the names appeared, the spectators immediately forgot about everything else.
Because both competitors had become famous for completely different reasons.
The monk was mysterious.
Tony was ridiculous.
The monk smiled constantly.
Tony caused headaches constantly.
The monk defeated Lily Frost.
Tony punched people through walls.
Nobody knew what would happen.
Even Da Vinci looked interested.
High above the arena, Ancestor Long leaned forward slightly.
"I like this one."
Several House Masters nodded.
They weren’t interested in the result.
They were interested in the process.
Because nobody could accurately judge Tony anymore.
Every time they believed they understood him, he revealed something new.
Meanwhile, the two competitors entered the battlefield.
The bald monk wore his usual smile.
Tony wore his usual lazy expression.
The moment they faced each other, the monk immediately cupped his hands.
"Amitabha. This humble monk greets Benefactor Tony."
Tony blinked.
Then cupped his hands.
"Amitabha. This humble Tony greets Benefactor Monk."
The monk smiled.
Tony smiled.
The spectators looked confused.
The monk bowed.
Tony bowed.
The monk nodded.
Tony nodded.
The monk smiled again.
Tony smiled wider.
The audience began laughing.
Even Da Vinci looked speechless.
Was this a martial competition or a temple gathering?
The monk finally spoke.
"Benefactor Tony possesses great destiny."
Tony nodded seriously.
"Benefactor Monk possesses a shiny head."
The monk froze.
The crowd erupted.
Even Emma Rock laughed.
The monk quickly recovered.
"Amitabha. Physical appearance is merely illusion."
Tony nodded.
"I agree. Unfortunately, your baldness is very real."
The audience nearly exploded.
The monk’s smile twitched slightly.
For the first time during the tournament, somebody managed to annoy him.
Then the monk bowed again.
Tony bowed deeper.
The monk bowed lower.
Tony bowed even lower.
The spectators became increasingly confused.
Five thousand people watched two geniuses competing in a bowing contest.
Then suddenly...
BANG!
The monk disappeared.
His foot shot toward Tony’s chest.
A sneak attack.
The audience gasped.
The monk had used politeness to hide a killing move.
Unfortunately...
The kick passed through empty air.
Tony’s body blurred.
An afterimage shattered.
The monk’s eyes widened.
"What?"
Several blurry figures suddenly appeared across the battlefield.
One Tony.
Two Tonys.
Five Tonys.
Ten Tonys.
The spectators immediately stood up.
Nobody could identify the real body.
The Heavenly Mirage Steps.
The speed was so fast that afterimages remained standing even after Tony had already moved elsewhere.
The monk’s expression finally became serious.
Tony’s laughter echoed throughout the arena.
"Benefactor Monk! Didn’t Buddha teach honesty? Why are you kicking people during greetings?"
The monk attacked again.
Palm strikes exploded.
Golden Buddhist energy filled the arena.
The Tony before him vanished.
Another afterimage.
Then another.
Then another.
The spectators watched in amazement.
The monk appeared to be fighting ghosts.
Every attack missed.
Every strike hit illusions.
Tony casually walked around the battlefield as if taking a stroll.
At one point he even stood behind the monk.
"Wrong direction."
The monk turned.
Tony vanished.
Another afterimage exploded.
The audience laughed loudly.
The monk’s face darkened.
For the first time since entering the tournament, he looked frustrated.
The battlefield transformed into a comedy.
A very expensive comedy.
Tony appeared left.
Tony appeared right.
Tony appeared above.
Tony appeared behind.
Nobody knew which was real.
Even the powerful experts watching carefully struggled to follow.
The monk suddenly roared.
Golden light erupted around him.
A giant Buddhist palm descended from the sky.
The attack covered almost the entire battlefield.
This time Tony couldn’t rely on simple evasion.
At least...
That was what everyone thought.
Then Tony moved.
His body became a blur.
The spectators only saw a flash.
Mountain Dragon Dash.
The fourth form of Tyrant Dragon Fist.
BOOM!
The giant palm missed completely.
The battlefield exploded.
Tony appeared directly before the monk.
Too close.
Far too close.
The monk’s expression changed.
Tony smiled.
"Amitabha."
The monk instinctively replied.
"Amitabha."
BANG!
A fist landed directly in his stomach.
The monk coughed blood.
His eyes nearly popped out.
The audience froze.
Tony stepped back respectfully.
Then bowed.
The monk instinctively bowed back.
BANG!
Another punch.
More blood.
The monk staggered backward.
The spectators began laughing uncontrollably.
This wasn’t a battle anymore.
This was bullying.
The monk desperately attacked.
Tony vanished.
Afterimages shattered.
The monk turned left.
Tony appeared right.
The monk turned right.
Tony appeared behind him.
Then came another bow.
The monk reflexively returned it.
BANG!
A kick.
Flying Dragon Kick.
The monk flew across the battlefield.
The audience roared with laughter.
Even Lily Frost covered her face.
"This idiot..."
Emma Rock couldn’t stop smiling.
Mark Smith stared silently.
The speed.
The control.
The confidence.
Tony was revealing frightening abilities.
Meanwhile, the monk climbed back up.
His robes were torn.
Blood covered his mouth.
The smile had completely disappeared.
Tony slowly walked toward him.
Then bowed again.
The monk’s face twitched.
"Don’t you respect Buddha?" Tony asked loudly.
The spectators immediately sensed trouble.
The monk remained silent.
Tony frowned dramatically.
"Benefactor Monk, this is unacceptable."
The monk suddenly felt danger.
A tremendous danger.
Tony pointed toward the sky.
"Bow to Buddha."
The monk refused.
The next second, Tony vanished.
Fire Dragon Heart Punch.
A burning dragon-shaped fist slammed directly into the monk’s chest.
BOOOOOOM!
The battlefield exploded.
The monk’s body shot upward.
Blood sprayed.
The spectators stood frozen.
The dragon-shaped energy twisted around the monk before exploding completely.
When the smoke cleared...
The bald monk crashed heavily onto the battlefield.
His body bounced twice.
Then stopped moving.
Silence.
Complete silence.
The monk opened his mouth.
Coughed another mouthful of blood.
Then fainted.
Da Vinci glanced toward the medical team.
"Carry him away."
Only then did the arena finally react.
The audience erupted.
The cheers became deafening.
Tony stood alone at the center of the battlefield.
Not a scratch on his body.
Not a single wound.
Not even heavy breathing.
The victory had been completely one-sided.
Tony looked toward the unconscious monk and shook his head sadly.
"You should have bowed to Buddha."
The audience exploded with laughter once more.
High above the arena, even Ancestor Long laughed openly.
Meanwhile, Emma Rock watched silently.
The smile had disappeared from her face.
Because the next opponent... Was no longer Mark Smith.
It was Tony Clark.
And for the first time since entering the tournament... Emma wasn’t completely confident.
Far above them, Da Vinci narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.
Because he noticed something nobody else had.
Throughout the entire battle... Tony still hadn’t revealed his true limits.
