Chapter 89: Chapter 88 Mysterious Patient
After their return, Zhang Hao and Doctor Liu arrived at the leadership’s office one after another.
They shared some insights from the recent exchange competition, and of course, the leaders weren’t just nodding along without thought.
Their shining performance at the conference was undoubtedly thanks to Zhang Hao.
Doctor Liu didn’t rashly take the credit either, implying within his words that they caught so much attention this time thanks to Zhang Hao.
Zhang Hao was quite humble about it, no matter what the leaders said, he insisted that it was just part of his job.
Upon leaving the leadership’s office, Zhang Hao saw Zhao Qing who had come to find him; her attire today was a bit different.
Though still in a nurse’s uniform, it seemed to have been chosen with a bit of cunning.
Zhang Hao coughed, and Zhao Qing approached with a smile, "Haven’t seen you in seven days, you seem to have lost quite a bit of weight."
"That’s right, traveling for work, with poor food and sleep, how could I not lose weight?"
"The issues on my end are completely resolved now, no one will bother me anymore."
Zhang Hao was surprised, but looking at the way Zhao Qing spoke, it didn’t seem like she was joking.
"Really? What did you do to him? You didn’t give him a load of money to keep quiet, did you? That kind of person is like a bottomless pit, there’s no end to it."
Zhao Qing straightened the hair by her temples and said with a smile, "You don’t need to worry about that. Anyway, he won’t be appearing in my life again."
That evening, the hospital held a dinner, and Zhang Hao also made his appearance. Despite being a newcomer, even the leaders stood up to toast him.
"Zhang Hao, you are fresh blood for our hospital. The medical field needs young people like you!"
Several leaders had already learned that Zhang Hao’s relationship with the Gu Family was good, and if Gu Shengsen could fund the hospital,
it might even surpass the current City Hospital in the future.
Zhang Hao found the leaders’ actions a bit too much. He drank with everyone who toasted him, and this back and forth led him to drink a few glasses too many.
On his way back, he had no memory of it, and by the time he opened his eyes, it was already two or three in the afternoon.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw his mother sitting by the bed, her face full of worry.
"Oh, you’re finally awake—come, have some water."
Zhang Hao propped himself up and leaned against the headboard, taking the glass of cool boiled water from his mother, "Mom, what’s the matter with you, why the worried look on your face?"
After drinking half a glass of water, his dry throat finally felt soothed.
"Last night, your female colleague brought you home. You’ve slept until now, but she said you can rest today and go to work after you recover. Was she your leader?"
Zhang Hao couldn’t answer this question because he didn’t know who it was that brought him home the night before.
After waking up, he still felt groggy. Picking up his phone, he saw that Gu Yue had sent several messages.
They were to check if he had gotten home safely, and Gu Xing playfully sent several selfies where you could see two small raised points beneath her thin T-shirt when zooming in.
However, Gu Xing’s chest wasn’t as big as her sister’s, and Zhang Hao wasn’t very interested.
"Call your cousin over for dinner tonight; I’m going to buy groceries. You clean up the house a bit."
Before Zhang Hao could respond, his mother had already left the house.
The house really didn’t need much tidying, and Zhang Hao busied himself for about fifteen minutes before everything was in order.
Just as he sat down, his cousin and his wife arrived.
The cousin was dressed as usual, while his wife He Qianhui was dressed up elegantly, especially with a gold necklace around her neck.
Her off-white dress with light pink floral print seemed a size too small, with the chest area looking like it was about to burst at any second.
"Hao, you didn’t go to work today?" Liu Gang asked.
His tone made it clear he was in high spirits.
"Just got back from a business trip, the leaders told me to rest for a day before going back to work." Zhang Hao answered truthfully.
Liu Gang didn’t care why Zhang Hao was at home; he had just asked casually before giving him a bear hug that almost left Zhang Hao breathless.
"Cousin, what’s going on with you?"
"Hao, I’ve got to thank you. If it weren’t for you, the Liu family’s lineage would have been cut off!"
What?
Zhang Hao was confused. What did that mean?
Looking at He Qianhui, He Qianhui lowered her head, and in the moment she bowed her head, there was a slight change in her expression.
In an instant, Zhang Hao understood.
"Sister-in-law, are you... pregnant?"
Before He Qianhui could speak, Liu Gang had already explained, "Your sister-in-law’s period always starts on the seventh or eighth of the month, and now it’s the end of the month!"
Zhang Hao didn’t know what to say.
"Bro, don’t get too happy so soon. A woman’s menstrual cycle can be delayed, so judging pregnancy on this basis isn’t very precise."
But Liu Gang had been longing to become a father for a long time, and he would rather believe that his wife was pregnant.
Finally freeing himself from his cousin’s embrace, Zhang Hao hadn’t even caught his breath when he heard his cell phone ring.
He returned to the bedroom and answered the call.
"I am; may I ask who’s speaking?"
"Sorry, I don’t do private consultations. If you’re feeling unwell, you can come to the hospital and make an appointment."
Zhang Hao found the caller odd for making such a request and turned it down, but he was also curious about how they had gotten his number.
"Look at that, Hao is so busy with patients in the hospital that people are even seeking him out for private consultations!"
Zhang Hao gave an awkward smile and mumbled a vague response.
In the evening, the family was eating dinner when Zhang Hao was about to have a few drinks with his cousin. The usually quiet door was suddenly knocked on loudly.
His mother got up to answer the door and saw a man in a black suit standing outside.
"Excuse me, is this Doctor Zhang Hao’s home?"
"Hao, someone’s looking for you!"
When Zhang Hao came over, the visitor revealed his identity and explained his purpose.
"I don’t know any Mrs. Qian. I’m not on duty right now. If she feels unwell, she can go to the hospital where they have more professional medical equipment for a comprehensive examination."
Zhang Hao’s response was neither humble nor arrogant, and the other party’s manner of speaking was not forceful either.
"Mrs. Qian learned of your medical expertise from online reports. If Doctor Zhang is willing to make a house visit, you can name your price."
Zhang Hao knew he shouldn’t bow his head just for money, but life without money was truly difficult.
"Hao, look how the patients are coming right to our house to ask for you; you should go take a look."
Seeing that his father also said so, Zhang Hao didn’t decline any further.
The visitor took a business card out of the inner pocket of his suit jacket and placed it on top of the shoe cabinet by the door.
Zhang Hao changed his clothes, grabbed his long-unused needle pack, and followed the man.
Inside the luxury car, Zhang Hao was slightly uneasy, "What seems to be troubling Mrs. Qian?"
"She doesn’t feel well all over. Once you see Mrs. Qian, you’ll understand, Doctor Zhang."
The secrecy about seeing a patient was a bit odd to Zhang Hao, but he could understand since wealthy people often had their quirks.
The car kept driving until it stopped in front of a detached villa in the suburbs.
"Doctor Zhang, we’re here. I’ll take you back tomorrow morning!"
