Chapter 84: Chapter 83: Can’t Do Without a Man

Just as the underlings swung their fists, Zhang Hao quickly identified their fatal weakness.

It took less than half a minute for those men to be down on the ground, wailing in pain.

At this point, the only two left standing were Zhang Hao and Lin Zhen. Lin Zhen saw his own lackeys easily knocked down by Zhang Hao,

and obviously felt some unease, "What did you do to them?"

Zhang Hao glanced over at the people on the ground, "They’re not feeling well, probably because they haven’t rested in a while. I barely touched them, and they wanted to sleep."

The situation was certainly not as simple as Zhang Hao described. Lin Zhen looked around and suddenly noticed several wooden sticks not far away.

These sticks were about as thick as baseball bats. Lin Zhen quickly ran over, picked up two, and held them in his hands.

He swung through the air forcefully. A whooshing sound filled his ears.

"Don’t come any closer, if you do, this stick won’t show any mercy."

Zhang Hao stood still, the distance between the two was three to four meters.

"Look at you, going through all this trouble to bring me here, just for me to give you a workout. If you had told me earlier, maybe we could have picked a more comfortable place."

As he spoke, Zhang Hao moved his wrists around, the cracking sound of his joints made Lin Zhen miss a heartbeat.

In the past, he looked down on Zhang Hao because he thought he was a loser.

But this loser wasn’t the kind to overestimate himself.

So in school, he never troubled Zhang Hao. At most, he would speak in a tone dripping with contempt.

Never would he have imagined that his inattention would lead to today’s disaster.

"First, you played Song Xin, and now you’re reaching out to Miss Gu. Do you have some scheme in mind for Miss Gu?"

Zhang Hao was utterly confused, "Do you think Miss Gu is as foolish as you? If I had any designs on her, she would notice."

Lin Zhen clenched the wooden stick in his hands, "Who knows what you’re plotting? I can’t just watch Miss Gu fall into your trap."

"Tomorrow at the conference, I’ll tell her everything exactly as it is, and I’ll let her see your true face."

"Well, one can only hope!"

Having said that, Zhang Hao turned to leave. He felt it beneath him to lay hands on Lin Zhen; this guy wasn’t worth the flick of his finger.

Seeing Zhang Hao about to leave, Lin Zhen called out to him, "Hey, where do you think you’re going?"

Zhang Hao stopped and looked back at him, "I’m going to sleep, of course. What else, stay here and feed the mosquitoes with you?"

Though the place was in the middle of nowhere, if you walked a bit further, there was a main road.

As Zhang Hao passed by Lin Zhen’s car, a wicked idea suddenly occurred to him.

Through the car window, he saw the keys still in the ignition.

Lin Zhen was about twenty to thirty meters away from his car— even if he ran at full speed, it would take a few seconds to get there.

During those few seconds, Zhang Hao could easily open the door and start the car.

Zhang Hao looked back at Lin Zhen

Lin Zhen, locking eyes with him, instantly understood his intentions.

Hurriedly, he dropped the stick and ran towards the car.

Zhang Hao didn’t hesitate anymore, he opened the door and got in.

After starting the car, Lin Zhen’s hands pounded on the hood.

Zhang Hao floored the accelerator and reversed the car.

Lin Zhen could only watch as his car was driven away by Zhang Hao, hopping furiously on the spot.

"Zhang, give me back my car, I won’t let you off so easily."

Zhang Hao arrived back at the hotel in the car, carelessly parked in the parking lot, removed the keys, and left them at the front desk.

Thinking that if Lin Zhen came looking, he could simply send him to the front desk to get the keys himself.

Anyway, he didn’t drive his car to an uninhabited area to discard it casually.

Ready to head back to his room to rest, he realized he didn’t bring his room card, and Doctor Liu was still out dining, would not return for at least another half hour.

Zhang Hao spread his hands helplessly and came down from upstairs to wait for Doctor Liu in the hotel’s first-floor lobby.

Just as he sat down on the sofa, he saw Gu Yue enter with a takeout meal in hand.

The moment Gu Yue saw Zhang Hao, her gaze turned somewhat blank.

"You’re back?"

Zhang Hao put down his phone, "Yeah, just got back. Doctor Liu isn’t in the room, and I didn’t take my room card, so I’m waiting for him here."

Upon hearing this, Gu Yue laughed and said, "Why not come to my place and have something to eat with me?"

Zhang Hao hadn’t had dinner and was feeling hungry by this point, so seeing Gu Yue extend such an invitation, he saw no reason to decline.

Following Gu Yue to her room, one bed was tidy as if it was new, the other was a mess of tossed beddings.

"Haven’t had the time to clean up; hope you don’t mind, Doctor Zhang."

Zhang Hao shook his head, thinking his own room wasn’t much different, so what grounds did he have to criticize someone else’s room.

During the meal, Zhang Hao noticed that Gu Yue was the only one in the room.

"Where’s your sister? Didn’t she come back with you?"

While eating, Gu Yue said, "That damn girl went out to have fun again. It’s not like you don’t know, she can hardly bear to go a day without finding a man."

Zhang Hao felt that Gu Yue describing her sister in such a way was somewhat disrespectful.

But for rich girls like them, seeking a man to alleviate loneliness didn’t seem too improper.

"Then why don’t you go out?" asked Zhang Hao.

Gu Yue looked up at Zhang Hao and stared for a long time before saying, "I still have things to do—besides, my need for that kind of thing isn’t that great."

As she said this, Gu Yue suddenly froze, remembering the words her sister had said before leaving.

Looking at Zhang Hao’s face again, she started to have other thoughts.

Not wanting to make a fool of herself in front of him, she quickly changed the subject.

"My sister said you were called away by Lin Zhen when you came back today. I guess your relationship with him isn’t too good, so is there some sort of misunderstanding between you two?"

Zhang Hao chuckled and said, "No misunderstanding, we’re classmates, we were neither close nor distant during school."

"We actually got in touch more after starting work. He wanted to ask me how exactly I knew Miss Gu."

"But I think it’s better to let him ask you himself."

Gu Yue quickly waved her hand, "Forget it, I’m not very fond of Mr. Lin. I always feel he’s not very sincere, better to keep my distance."

After the meal, Doctor Liu still hadn’t returned, and Zhang Hao couldn’t go back to his room, so Gu Yue boiled water for two cups of tea.

One of them was for Zhang Hao.

The meal was a bit salty, and after drinking a few sips, Zhang Hao suddenly felt drowsy, his eyelids heavy as if they were weighed down by lead, unable to lift them.

"Doctor Zhang? Doctor Zhang..."

The last thing he vaguely heard was Gu Yue calling his name, but Zhang Hao no longer had the strength to reply.

At that time, Gu Xing was already getting intimately acquainted with a handsome guy in the bar booth.

Although she was careful, anyone passing by would show a hint of surprise on their face.

That’s pretty bold!

The handsome guy was experienced, relying on his strikingly handsome face, which made many women swoon and go crazy for him.

Gu Xing was one of them, but she was the one who had initiated the flirting.

So she was willingly experiencing everything that was happening.

"Your hands are so rough, but they feel so good on me," Gu Xing said in a lowered voice.
