Chapter 529: Chapter 526: How to Marry a Wife
Zhang Hao sat up, hands on hips, and even puffed out his chest, looking like someone not to be trifled with.
He Qianhui said with a chuckle, "What are you doing? Someone just sent me a set of clothes, and I haven’t even accepted them."
Zhang Hao became interested and said, "What kind of clothes are they? A big brand?"
He Qianhui tilted her head, looking at him and smiled, "What’s up, you want to know? Actually, I forgot, but I do recognize the brand’s logo."
"Anything from that brand never goes below five figures; I think that piece of clothing must be expensive too."
Zhang Hao did not continue to inquire further; in his mind, he went through all the big brands he knew.
He thought that buying a piece of clothing occasionally for his wife was a piece of cake.
Coming back to his senses, Zhang Hao looked at He Qianhui, one arm around her waist, "Okay, I understand. If he can buy it for you, I can too."
He Qianhui extended her index finger, placing it on Zhang Hao’s lips, "Buy what? We’ve worked hard for our money; we shouldn’t waste it on flashy but impractical things."
"I think the clothes I wear now are already quite nice, there’s no need to buy ones that expensive. It’s better to invest that money in some financial products to make more money."
Hearing her say this, Zhang Hao felt his life was worthwhile.
Neither family was particularly wealthy; their modestly comfortable life came from careful daily management.
"Okay, I understand. Still, it’s good to have some nicer clothes prepared, just in case you need to accompany me to some events in the future," he said.
At this, He Qianhui couldn’t help but laugh out loud, "You think you are some big boss with events to attend."
"At most you follow the hospital’s arrangement for medical support; why would you bring me along in that situation?"
"Why bring you? You are family, of course. Who says I can’t attend big events? There was a medical exchange before that I found out later our families could attend too."
With Zhang Hao saying this, He Qianhui indeed started to fantasize about it; she would definitely pick out her prettiest clothes to wear.
She absolutely couldn’t let Zhang Hao lose face in front of his colleagues; thinking about it, her hand involuntarily touched her stomach.
She hadn’t had children yet, so her stomach was still flat and smooth, but she seemed to notice some extra flesh at her waist.
It seemed she’d been putting on weight with the better living recently; if she didn’t control it, by the end of the year, she might gain ten or twenty pounds.
Noticing her zoning out, Zhang Hao chuckled.
His chuckle startled He Qianhui.
Seeing her flinch, Zhang Hao couldn’t help but laugh, "What’s up, what are you thinking about in that little head of yours?"
He Qianhui pushed his hand away, "I need to lose weight. From tomorrow, I’m not eating dinner anymore, or else I won’t fit into the clothes I bought."
Zhang Hao seemed to understand and pinched her waist, pretending to be serious, "Indeed, you’re getting plump."
He Qianhui slapped his hand away, not letting him touch her body.
"All you do is talk, aren’t you afraid I’ll sew your mouth shut with needle and thread?"
Zhang Hao chuckled; he didn’t dare say anything rash, just in case he made her angry again.
But his concern about her getting angry didn’t make him completely silent.
"A plump woman means a prosperous life, don’t you know? If I take you out looking like a skeleton, people will think I can’t even feed my wife enough to keep her chubby."
She knew what Zhang Hao meant by that, but still shook her head.
The thought of becoming obese in the future was something He Qianhui found hard to accept.
No one can defeat time. Everyone ages and grows old, but managing one’s figure is controllable.
"I won’t make myself skinny like a skeleton, making you ashamed to be seen with me, nor will I let myself get as fat as a pig ready for slaughter at year’s end. I will find that balance, and you won’t need to worry about the rest."
Zhang Hao, listening to her so full of conviction, glanced at his own belly. Before he had been with He Qianhui,
his figure seemed to be slimmer than now. Back in university, his male classmates were reluctant to play basketball with him.
They said his frail frame would fall apart with just one bump or touch.
Indeed, life had improved, and so had his mood, which naturally led to his gain in weight.
Zhang Hao had not strictly controlled his figure, thinking about how busy he was with work every day.
If he couldn’t eat well three times a day, what was the point of living?
Besides, he wasn’t like those online eaters who binge eat with a table full of food, continuously stuffing their faces.
Even though he had gained some weight now, it was probably still within the normal range.
Additionally, his leg hadn’t fully recovered yet. Trying to lose weight through exercise would be unlikely in the short term.
He Qianhui saw him lost in thought and held back her curiosity, not wanting to disturb him.
After a while, she saw Zhang Hao turn his head to look at her.
"What were you thinking about just now?"
"I was thinking about how you’re planning to lose weight. Should I do the same so I don’t end up a bloated man while you turn into a beautiful woman?"
He Qianhui smiled silently, unable to hide the happiness in her eyes.
The next morning, He Qianhui took Zhang Hao to the hospital for a series of checks, which showed that his leg was healing well.
After the cast was removed, Zhang Hao looked at his leg as if he didn’t recognize it.
It was just the scar on his leg that was quite startling.
"You’re not a model, so why can’t you accept having a scar?"
"If you ask me, I think men look better with scars."
Though the cast was removed, He Qianhui still bought him a protective brace to prevent any secondary injuries to Zhang Hao’s leg.
He would still need to use crutches for a while, but Zhang Hao was already very adept at using them.
On the way home, Zhang Hao received a call from his mother, asking how he had been lately.
Zhang Hao told her about the removal of his cast, and his mother was somewhat surprised.
"You had the cast removed so quickly? Has your leg fully recovered? Are you rushing to get back to work?"
"Let me tell you, recovering from a fracture takes a long time. If it doesn’t heal well, you’ll suffer in your old age."
Hearing his mother’s concern warmed Zhang Hao’s heart.
He explained, "Mom, it was the doctor who told me to remove it, not me."
"If I didn’t remove the cast, the muscles in my lower leg would atrophy. Then one leg would be longer than the other, and how would I ever get married?"
