Chapter 524: Chapter 521: Commencing Work
Zhang Hao shared his thoughts and plans with He Qianhui, but he wasn’t sure whether she would agree.
Once the auntie comes to work at home, she will inevitably have to live here. Then the question arises whether to convert the study into the auntie’s guest room or if the auntie will only come to cook three meals a day and leave after cooking.
After all, there are many detailed details to discuss, and Zhang Hao is not good at this.
It had to be He Qianhui who made the arrangements.
Zhang Hao was not in a hurry for her to reply, considering he only returned to the hotel at two o’clock yesterday.
He probably fell asleep around three or four, so it’s quite possible that this was the time she was sleeping soundly.
He also hoped that this message wouldn’t disturb her sleep.
A long morning passed, and Zhang Hao unexpectedly received a call from the hospital.
The leaders were concerned about his injury, but they were more eager to know when he would be able to return to work.
As for when he would return to the hospital to work, Zhang Hao couldn’t say for sure at the moment.
He hesitated for a while, and it seemed that the hospital leaders weren’t completely convinced.
After all, he was the mainstay of the traditional Chinese medicine department, and the other two doctors were merely there to support him.
Without him there to work for such a long time, those two doctors were extremely busy.
More importantly, many patients came seeking him by reputation. When they arrived at the hospital and couldn’t find Zhang Hao,
they would even refuse treatment, preferring to wait for his return to determine what was wrong with them.
No matter what, the hospital always prioritized the patients—how could they allow such a situation to happen?
Yet even if the leaders didn’t permit it, they couldn’t control the thoughts of patients who were convinced that only Zhang Hao could cure their ailments.
Especially some young patients who made noisy protests; if it wasn’t Zhang Hao diagnosing them,
they would rather wait and go untreated. Therefore, for the sake of these patients, the leaders had no choice but to call Zhang Hao.
They wanted to know his current physical condition and whether he could work at the hospital, even if just for half a day.
Zhang Hao himself was well aware that his absence had increased the workload for the other two doctors in his department.
He genuinely apologized and, on the condition that his physical condition permitted him to handle the work,
Zhang Hao agreed to the request made by the leaders.
Upon receiving a definite answer, the leaders were overjoyed.
Zhang Hao arrived at the company that very afternoon.
Upon seeing him come in with a crutch, Qin Miaoke couldn’t help but lose control of her tears.
She had been thinking about Zhang Hao day and night for over a month.
Now that she finally saw him returning to work, how could she not be moved, especially since he came to work despite being ill?
Such perseverance and resilience couldn’t help but become the pride of the department.
When patients learned that Zhang Hao was resuming consultations, they swarmed to the hospital.
However, the hospital leaders knew about Zhang Hao’s current physical condition and that he couldn’t work as tirelessly as before.
They limited his chief physician’s appointments to fifteen.
Those who secured an appointment would be seen by him, and those who didn’t would either switch doctors or wait until they could get an appointment.
Zhang Hao noticed the hospital’s arrangements and even saw the hospital leaders come by now and then
to check on his work situation. If they encountered any persistently troublesome patients,
there was no need for Zhang Hao to say anything, for the leaders would have already called security over.
Xia Xin, having learned from somewhere that Zhang Hao had resumed seeing patients, came with the understanding that he had always been her primary doctor.
She walked in, bold as brass, and in front of so many people, pounded on the table next week.
Just as she was about to complain bitterly, she suddenly saw Zhang Hao’s leg in a cast.
Everyone knows the saying, "A muscle or bone injury takes a hundred days to heal."
So she immediately understood why she hadn’t seen Zhang Hao working at the hospital recently.
"What happened to you, who did this to you?" Xia Xin asked.
Zhang Hao, looking at his injured leg, said with a smile, "Got rear-ended while driving."
Xia Xin laughed twice, "Then your driving skills must be really poor if you managed to get rear-ended."
"But since you’ve come to work, you should give me a check-up too."
"This is my medical report from last week; take a good look, I’ve really been living without any desires at home."
"Friends asked me out for meals several times, and I turned them down. After all, smoking, drinking, and staying up late are inevitable when dining out with them."
"I did this thinking of my own health, and have been following your instructions to the letter."
After hearing this, Zhang Hao picked up Xia Xin’s medical report and glanced at it.
The values on it were trending upwards, while the negative values were decreasing.
Comparing it with the previous report, one could clearly see her health was gradually improving.
Xia Xin looked at Zhang Hao, her eyes relaxing, not at all like when she first came in.
She knew that her efforts during this period had not been in vain.
"How is it, I listened to you, has my health significantly improved?"
"At least in the recent half month, I haven’t even had a mild cough, thanks to you."
Zhang Hao placed both reports on the table, "Not bad, but you must continue to keep it up. Can you feel that your body is much more comfortable than before?"
Xia Xin nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, if my health hadn’t improved so noticeably, I definitely wouldn’t have come to the hospital."
Zhang Hao said, "Keep taking the medicine I prescribed for you before, but I’m going to change a few ingredients, switch to some milder tonics."
"But don’t forget what I’ve told you before. Looking after your health is a long-term project, not something you can do in fits and starts. You must not cast all your previous efforts to the wind."
Xia Xin responded with an "Oh," picked up the new prescription, and saw that the dosages of a few ingredients indeed seemed to have changed, and some unfamiliar names of Chinese herbs had been added.
"Being a doctor really is a good job, just looking at test results and writing prescriptions to get the work done."
"If I had known, I would have studied medicine too, then maybe I could have become your real colleague," Xia Xin said.
Zhang Hao had never understood why Xia Xin was so keen on getting close to him.
There didn’t seem to be any necessary direct contact between the two of them.
Even if she wanted to get close, couldn’t they just be friends?
But then Zhang Hao remembered something, that Xia Xin had applied for a job at their hospital’s PR department. Hadn’t she worked during this time?
After asking, he finally learned from her that she didn’t get the job.
They said she lacked relevant work experience, even though Xia Xin was willing to lower her salary.
She wanted to learn on the job, but the hospital apparently had its considerations and didn’t agree to her request.
So for over a month, Zhang Hao had no idea what Xia Xin was up to.
"Alright, go get your medicine quickly, I’m only working half days recently. If you don’t have anything else,"
"don’t bother me so as not to disturb other patients’ appointments."
Turning her head, Xia Xin saw that indeed, there were quite a few patients outside.
