Chapter 452: Chapter 448 Harassment Messages
The moment he saw the message, Zhang Hao thought that the woman had sent it to the wrong person.
He simply deleted the conversation box, pretending he hadn’t seen it, and put down his phone.
But the woman actually sent another message.
"Mr. Zhang, have you gone to bed? If you haven’t, could we chat?"
Seeing this message, Zhang Hao really wanted to pretend he hadn’t seen it, and he was indeed very sleepy now.
His fingers lingered on the screen for a few seconds before he put down the phone and turned over to sleep.
He had a girlfriend; he couldn’t get too close to other women, especially a married woman.
If their relationship became too close and her husband found out, even if there was nothing between them, he would still be helplessly mired in accusations.
The next morning, Zhang Hao woke to the sound of his alarm.
Picking up his phone, he was suddenly surprised to find that the woman had called him seven or eight times.
And the duration of each missed call was over a minute.
This meant she had been calling until it hung up automatically.
But what was strange was why he hadn’t heard the phone ring.
After checking his phone, he realized that at some point, it had been put on silent mode.
Luckily, the hospital hadn’t called last night.
Worried that the woman might have an emergency, Zhang Hao pretended to be oblivious and messaged her back.
"I went to bed early last night, left my phone in the living room charging, and didn’t hear any sound, sorry."
Thinking about the woman who had been desperately calling him the night before, and the fact he hadn’t answered,
and he hadn’t even responded to a WeChat message, he guessed that by now, she was probably in a deep sleep.
While holding his phone and going to the bathroom to wash up, he heard the continuous dings of notifications.
He picked it up and was suddenly surprised to see that the woman had replied.
The moment Zhang Hao saw the message, he was stunned; had the woman not slept at all through the night?
If she really hadn’t slept all night, she was clearly not interested in taking care of her health.
The last call came at 1:01 a.m., and there was around a ten-minute interval between each call.
It wasn’t hard to see that the woman was persistent and probably gave up only when she realized he really wasn’t going to answer.
And now she was replying to messages instantly, which made him wonder if she woke up early or really didn’t sleep at all.
Zhang Hao held the toothbrush in his mouth, his lips smeared with a layer of white toothpaste foam.
His fingers were still wet as he looked at the message from the woman. After pondering for a moment inside, he replied.
"If you really miss your husband, then give him a call. With technology so advanced nowadays, video chat or something."
"Or buy a plane ticket to go abroad to see him; there’s always a way if you want to meet."
After sending the message, until Zhang Hao arrived at the hospital, the woman hadn’t replied with a single word, not even a punctuation mark.
But it didn’t matter; he couldn’t let her affect his work mood for the day.
Upon arriving at the department, he saw Qin Miaoke sitting at his desk, browsing something on the computer.
Zhang Hao walked over and tapped on the desk with his finger: "What are you doing?"
Qin Miaoke waved her hand: "Wait, wait, I’m looking up some information."
Qin Miaoke was rapidly moving the mouse while tapping shortcut keys on the keyboard with her other hand.
After about five minutes, she stood up.
"What information were you looking up?" asked Zhang Hao, curious.
"Nothing much, I’ll get busy now."
Watching Qin Miaoke’s retreating back, Zhang Hao had a second where he wanted to check the computer records.
He wanted to know exactly what had been looked up, but it was her privacy, so Zhang Hao still chose not to do it.
Patients came one after another, every day was so busy.
At closing time, Zhang Hao even made a special visit to the ICU to see how the patient who had been in the car accident was recovering.
He learned from the head of surgery that the patient had awakened that morning, but her body was still very weak.
She had fallen asleep after being given medicine, but her vital signs had already stabilized.
Regardless, this life was pulled back from the brink.
Learning this news, Zhang Hao was also very happy.
"That’s great, at least our efforts weren’t in vain, this time the surgery department has really achieved a great deal."
While he was talking, a nurse passed by him, and after not taking two steps, Zhang Hao called out to her.
"Nurse, wait a moment."
The nurse with the tray in her hands stopped in her tracks, waiting for Zhang Hao to approach.
Within a few short seconds, fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead.
When Zhang Hao got closer, he also noticed the sweat on her forehead.
He joked, "What’s the matter, I just asked you to stop, I didn’t ask you to do something sneaky. Why so nervous?"
The young nurse looked up at Zhang Hao, while he used his hand to cover the lower part of her face, only exposing her eyes.
Zhang Hao looked left and right, then smiled and said, "So, it was you who wiped my sweat. What is your name?"
The nurse sighed in relief upon hearing his words.
"Mr. Zhang, I thought you were going to check my work and it scared me. My name is Jiang Ning, I’ve been working in the hospital for over half a year, always in surgery."
"I used to be in surgery too, how come I never saw you?"
Jiang Ning glanced back at the head of surgery, as if she hoped he would step up and say a few words for her at that moment.
"Of course you wouldn’t remember, you were so busy at that time, and you were working with Nurse Lin. Back then, the hospital was saying that you two were a perfect match."
"Not long after, the hospital established a department of traditional Chinese medicine, and you went to be its head. Naturally, you wouldn’t know what happened here in surgery after that."
With those words from the head of surgery, Zhang Hao didn’t think much of it.
"Thank you, I haven’t found the chance to thank you in person, but should similar situations arise in the future, the patient must come first."
Jiang Ning nodded, "Then Mr. Zhang, I’m going to the ward to change the patient’s medication."
Zhang Hao chatted with the head of surgery in the hallway for a bit more, and as soon as it was time to leave work, he hurried off.
As soon as he got into the car, He Qianhui called.
She had good news to share.
This difficult client had taken only three to four days for her to handle, and the deal was already closed.
The contract was signed and went into effect immediately, and she could return without letting anyone down.
Through the phone screen, seeing He Qianhui’s happy face, he congratulated her.
"I knew my wife was the best. Hurry back, your husband will make you a table full of delicious food, you must be worn out these past few days."
He Qianhui shook her head, "As long as I can close the deal, a bit of hardship is nothing."
"I wonder how much bonus the company will give me for this deal. It looks like our savings are going to get a nice boost."
"I’ve booked a ticket for tomorrow morning, if you have time, pick me up at noon, if not, I’ll go home by myself."
"I still have to stop by the office to hand over the signed contract to the manager, I won’t talk more now, I need to take a shower."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Hao hastily said, "Don’t hang up, I want to see how you take a shower."
