Chapter 376: Chapter 373: The Room Card in the Car
The little girl’s action and the entire scene were captured by the hospital’s publicity department.
They immediately wrote a press release to promote the hospital’s good deeds.
And all of this just happened to be witnessed by He Qianhui.
Zhang Hao hadn’t been able to come home much during this period, but thankfully He Qianhui hadn’t shown any anger or blame.
When the little girl was discharged, it was just when He Qianhui came to deliver freshly laundered clothes to Zhang Hao’s colleagues in the same department.
Other departments were envious of having such a great sister-in-law like He Qianhui.
As for the doctors in the Traditional Chinese Medicine department, they were even more pleased with themselves.
However, it seemed that no one thought it was inappropriate for that girl to have kissed Zhang Hao.
The young lady was only nineteen, just of age.
And Zhang Hao was an adult who had been part of society for many years.
He certainly had a greater sense of propriety concerning matters between men and women than a young girl.
"Sister-in-law, you’re here, what delicious food did you make today?"
He Qianhui shook her head, "I was busy at work today, so as soon as I got home, I hurriedly washed your clothes."
"I was afraid you guys would run out of clothes to wear, so I dried them and brought them over immediately."
"So, I didn’t have time to cook, and it looks like you’ll have to fend for yourselves for dinner tonight."
The doctors in the Traditional Chinese Medicine department looked pitiful.
"Just to have the chance to eat the food made by sister-in-law, I only ate until half-full at noon."
"If I had known, I would have eaten a few more bites."
To this, He Qianhui also felt sorry.
"I’ve washed all the clothes for you, but it seems your patient has been discharged. You won’t have to stay in the hospital anymore, will you?"
One doctor said, "Yes, our department can finally breathe a sigh of relief now that the little girl has been discharged."
"So, sister-in-law, you won’t need to trouble yourself by washing clothes for us anymore."
"It’s no trouble at all. Being able to help you is not a bad thing for me."
As she spoke, He Qianhui approached Zhang Hao.
"Are you coming home tonight?"
Zhang Hao stretched lazily and said, "Yes, I’m coming home. I haven’t been back for quite a few days now."
"I’m really missing our bed, the couch, and everything at home."
"How about this, tonight you take me to a place, or else don’t even think about stepping through the front door."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Hao coughed and leaned toward He Qianhui’s ear, lowering his voice.
"Could you not embarrass me in front of my colleagues?"
"If you want face, you need to earn it yourself, it’s not something I can give you. You’ll be off work in twenty minutes. I’ll go buy some fruit, then wait for you in the car."
After He Qianhui finished speaking, Zhang Hao handed her the car keys.
"Alright then, once you’ve bought the fruit, wait for me in the car. I’ll sort out my things and come right over."
He Qianhui didn’t rush the situation and headed toward the fruit shop on her own.
She selected fruits that both of them liked, then carrying the bag, she made her way to the hospital’s parking lot and found Zhang Hao’s car.
Getting into the car, He Qianhui sat in the passenger seat, idly playing with her cellphone, head bowed.
By chance, she stumbled upon a relationship-themed video.
The video blogger had spouted off several hundred words, all with the aim of advising women to be meticulous observers.
It was about using small details to verify whether one’s boyfriend truly loved them.
Having nothing better to do, He Qianhui sequentially watched one video after another, suddenly coming across one from the past.
"It’s said that a man’s car is the easiest place to find something fishy, like the angle of the passenger seat."
"There are also various little places that can confirm whether one’s man really loves them or not."
He Qianhui, too, acted on impulse and started to search according to what that woman said in the video."
However, she searched and searched but found no lipstick, perfume, mini mirrors, or the like.
But I did find a room card.
Looking at this room card, He Qianhui fell deep into thought.
After much contemplation, she decided to dial the number on it.
The result was a cold, mechanical tone, indicating a disconnected number.
Moreover, judging by the wear and tear on the room card, it seemed to be quite old.
Could it be that Zhang Hao forgot to return it a long time ago when he traveled and stayed at a hotel?
But why had he kept this useless room card for so long?
As Qianhui pondered this, she saw Zhang Hao had already changed out of his white lab coat, dressed in simple casual clothes, and was walking towards her.
Qianhui quickly put the room card back in its place, pretending as if nothing had happened.
Zhang Hao opened the door and came in, "Sorry to keep you waiting. Recently, our entire department, even the whole hospital, has been tense because of that one female patient. Thankfully, the final outcome was good, and she was able to be safely discharged."
"What exactly was wrong with this young lady? When I saw her earlier, I felt that, although her complexion looked good..."
"... from her actions and behavior, she still seemed weak. Are you sure she’s ready to be discharged?"
"Her body was severely depleted, plus the careless use of medication previously, so she can only recover little by little. It’s impossible for her to be completely well within three to five years."
"But can you keep her in the hospital for three to five years? Anyway, I’ve informed her parents of all the precautions."
"As long as she follows my advice and takes good care of herself, she will see improvement soon. You know I never deceive my patients."
He Qianhui nodded; she had never doubted Zhang Hao’s medical ethics.
"Have you bought all the fruits? Is there anything else you want to eat? It’s all available nearby, so we might as well buy more to take home."
"I just called the leadership; I’ve been nonstop busy for a while now."
"I simply don’t have the energy to see more patients, so I’ve requested a couple of days off."
At first, Qianhui resented that patient for what she had put Zhang Hao through.
But considering things from Zhang Hao’s perspective, for over a month now, he had hardly been home, always dashing around the hospital.
Hospitals are both the safest and the most dangerous places.
It was already not easy for him to ensure his own safety.
To blame him over such trivialities would be too petty of her.
"Since that’s the case, let’s not go anywhere tonight. I’ll go home and make you some soup, give you a good nourishment."
"I know where you want to go. Since we’re off work now, and it won’t make much difference if we delay a bit, I’ll come with you. Maybe we’ll make a decision today."
Since Zhang Hao had agreed, Qianhui didn’t object further.
The two of them arrived at the appliance store before it closed.
They quickly checked out some essential appliances.
An air conditioner, washing machine, refrigerator, and television were definites.
As for the more detailed items, Qianhui decided to come back and have a look when she had the time.
There was no need to drag Zhang Hao over for such small matters.
However, what Qianhui didn’t expect was that Zhang Hao was quite invested in the selection of appliances.
He separately inquired about the manufacturers, performance, energy consumption, and quality assurances of these major appliances.
He even knew to compare products from different retailers, and he eventually used his phone’s notes to compare the options he had looked at.
With the prices being relatively similar, he chose the one with the best cost-performance ratio.
