Chapter 330: Chapter 327: The More Anxious, The Happier

She was still damp from a shower, obviously just having come out of the washroom.

Her room was right across from this one, why would she come into his room?

"What’s the matter with you?"

Qin Miaoke said loudly, "Quick, close the door and lock it from the inside."

Not knowing what had happened, Zhang Hao could only follow Qin Miaoke’s instructions,

He locked the door and approached her.

"What happened to you..."

"I was taking a shower just now. I saw someone peeping at me, and it scared me so much I didn’t even rinse off the soap."

"I ran out immediately, but by the time I came out, that person had already run away."

Normally, this being the village chief’s house, villagers wouldn’t come without important matters.

And considering how secluded the washroom is, nobody would come to visit and head straight there.

"Have you been in contact with anyone these past few days?" Zhang Hao asked.

"What do you mean?" Qin Miaoke asked, puzzled.

"I mean, among those you’ve met, there might be someone who harbored inappropriate thoughts upon seeing you. You understand what I’m saying, right?"

Qin Miaoke frowned, "How could they do this? Those people... those people are like toads lusting after a swan’s flesh."

"Thinking that by peeping on me showering, I’d marry him in a fit of shame and anger."

Zhang Hao wasn’t interested in that, but changed the subject, "Taking half a shower must feel uncomfortable, right?"

"Do you want to go back and finish it? I’ll stand guard outside, and if anyone comes to peep, I’ll chase them away."

Although Zhang Hao’s suggestion sounded a bit odd, he was right about one thing.

Leaving a shower halfway, with a sticky feeling on the skin, would indeed be uncomfortable to just lie down and rest.

"Alright, I’ll take your advice. But when I’m showering, you better not peep, or I’ll gouge out your eyes."

Zhang Hao shook his head helplessly and waited outside the shower room, his mind occupied by the strange illness.

Several villages in succession had exhibited the same symptoms, either the illness was spreading at a slow pace,

or someone was doing it on purpose.

Unfortunately, the examination results had not yet come out, and the future progression of the situation remained uncertain.

"I’m done showering," she said.

Upon hearing Qin Miaoke’s voice, Zhang Hao stood up and stretched himself.

"Then you should rest early. I’m exhausted today."

After staying in this village for two weeks, there was finally significant progress concerning the illness.

At least it could be determined that the villagers’ sickness was non-contagious and that there was a specific remedy for it.

As for what the remedy was, it took Zhang Hao three days in the mountains behind the village to find the detoxifying herbs.

It turned out that the villages nearby had always enjoyed eating a certain wild vegetable.

This wild vegetable was toxic, and if not cooked long enough, not thoroughly done, it would release a toxin.

Those who liked the wild vegetable would eat it at every meal, while those who didn’t would avoid it altogether.

Having found the appropriate medicine for treatment, the sick villagers quickly progressed from an initially comatose state to gradually waking up.

They ended up supporting the village for nearly a month.

Aside from the very first victims who were severely ill and of old age, who did not make it,

the rest of the patients fully recovered.

This outcome was undoubtedly a complete victory.

The villagers also spontaneously expressed their gratitude to the medical team that came to their aid.

When leaving, Zhang Hao got in the car without looking back.

Whether or not the village chief’s daughter saw him off didn’t matter; his mind was set on going home.

He wished for a plane to take him back immediately.

It was still those rickety little cars that swayed them off.

By the time they arrived at the airport, the tension that had been suspended in everyone’s hearts finally settled down.

As long as they boarded the plane, they would be saying goodbye to this place.

When the plane landed, Zhang Hao was still in a deep sleep, dreaming that he was intertwined with He Qianhui.

Suddenly, someone shook his body, and when he opened his eyes, he realized it was actually the head nurse.

"It’s time to get off the plane. Were you already dreaming of going home? But we still need to go to the hospital."

"We have to compile this trip’s details into a written report and coordinate with the hospital’s publicity department for a series of promotions; the work isn’t finished yet."

The thought of the many complicated matters he still had to deal with made Zhang Hao feel overwhelmed.

"Can I not go? Isn’t it enough to have you and the department head of surgery for this?"

The head nurse just gave a slight smile and said nothing.

Dragging Zhang Hao, she got off the plane with him.

Back at the hospital, Zhang Hao was not in high spirits, but his cell phone reception stabilized once he returned.

He sent a message to He Qianhui right away, only for her to inform him that she had gone on a business trip the day before.

She wouldn’t be back for another three days, a bolt from the blue.

He had thought of having a drink tonight to celebrate.

But the beauty was not at home.

After Zhang Hao returned home from the hospital and saw it empty, he suddenly remembered that the new house was under renovation.

He turned around, got back into the car, and went to check on the progress of the renovation.

The last time he was here, the walls and floor tiles were torn down, but this time he found that the water piping, electrical wiring, and heating pipes had already been installed.

The walls had been painted as well, and what followed should be the laying of tiles or wooden flooring.

Just as Zhang Hao was about to grab something to eat nearby and then go home to sleep, he suddenly received a phone call from He Qianhui.

"Hello, are you not at home?"

"I went out, what’s up?"

"I just got back, where are you? I’ll come to you."

Hearing He Qianhui say this, Zhang Hao thought he had answered the wrong call. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Looking at the number on the phone screen, it was indeed hers.

"Weren’t you on a business trip? How come you’re back?"

"I signed off on the agreement early. The other party’s boss was in a rush to go abroad for business in the next couple of days."

"So, they didn’t give us a hard time. I signed it this morning and booked a flight for the afternoon, and here I am, just got back."

Zhang Hao felt a rush of joy after hearing this.

"Great, then wait for me at home, take a shower first, I’ll be right back and bring you something delicious."

Everything took a turn for the better, just when Zhang Hao thought he was in for another night of lonely sleep.

To his surprise, He Qianhui had come back early.

On his way back, he bought a cake, flowers, and her favorite braised delicacies.

He also packed several Sichuan dishes from a restaurant, holding many items in his left and right hands as he arrived back home.

Upon entering the door, he saw He Qianhui wrapped in a bath towel coming out of the bathroom.

"Wow, you bought so much, can the two of us finish it all?"

At that moment, Zhang Hao couldn’t care less about whether they could finish it all.

Ravenous, he didn’t say another word and embraced He Qianhui, heading straight to the bedroom.

Once in the bedroom, he tossed her onto the bed, and while undoing his shirt buttons, he felt as if he didn’t have enough hands.

He wished he could become an octopus, with each tentacle assigned its own task.

"You’re in such a hurry?" He Qianhui knew why he was anxious, yet the more impatient he became, the happier she felt inside.
