Chapter 31: Chapter 31 All Grown-ups
Zhang Hao abruptly woke up to find the sky outside already dark, grabbing his phone he saw it was already seven in the evening.
It was just a false alarm!
Just as he was about to stay in bed a little longer, the ringtone of his phone suddenly erupted.
It was Lin Wan calling with a WeChat voice message.
Zhang Hao answered and put it to his ear, "Hello, Nurse Lin, what’s up?"
The voice on the other end was very noisy, Lin Wan shouted:
"Doctor Zhang, where are you? Do you want to come and make up for Xiao Ru’s birthday? We’re at the wharf KTV."
The birthday celebration was supposed to be yesterday, but he had been on a night shift and couldn’t make it.
So they chose today to celebrate for Xiao Ru.
Since Lin Wan had already called, Zhang Hao had no reason to refuse.
"Alright, I’m on my way, wait for me."
Zhang Hao climbed out of bed, walked out of the bedroom, and saw the house pitch dark. His parents hadn’t come back yet?
But seeing a few plates covered on the dining table, he lifted the cover for a look, it was the dinner left for him.
Presuming his parents must have gone to work again, Zhang Hao grabbed his car keys, first went to the florist to buy a bouquet of flowers, and then picked out a gift.
He then floored the gas pedal and arrived at the wharf KTV Lin Wan had mentioned.
As soon as he parked the car, he saw Lin Wan waiting for him at the KTV entrance.
Zhang Hao got out holding flowers and a gift, and Lin Wan looked on enviously.
"Doctor Zhang really knows how to make a girl happy, buying both flowers and gifts."
Zhang Hao didn’t think there was anything special about it, "Well, birthdays should be a bit special."
Lin Wan beamed with a smile, then asked, "And if it were my birthday, Doctor Zhang, what would you plan to give me?"
"Birthday gifts are supposed to be a surprise, I can’t tell you," Zhang Hao said.
Lin Wan nodded with some anticipation, then sighed, "Too bad my birthday has passed, I’ll have to wait until next year to receive a gift from Doctor Zhang."
After exchanging a few words, they hurried upstairs. Today’s birthday girl, Xiao Ru, had already blown out the candles and started distributing the cake.
Everyone had chipped in for a large private room, which was also very lively.
Upon Zhang Hao’s arrival, everyone, familiar and unfamiliar, exclaimed with a "wow".
This made Zhang Hao a bit taken aback and he quickly handed over the flowers and gift to Xiao Ru.
"I didn’t know what you’d like, so I just got flowers, and for the gift, you can unwrap it later."
Xiao Ru didn’t interact much with Zhang Hao at work, and she knew she was able to see Doctor Zhang here today because of Lin Wan.
Still, she politely thanked him and cut a piece of the remaining cake for him.
Just as he was about to eat, Zhang Hao faintly heard a voice coming from the restroom in the room.
"Don’t... don’t, be gentle, Dr. Xu, you’re killing me!"
At first Zhang Hao thought he had heard wrong, but the meaningful expressions on everyone’s faces made him sure.
Something was surely going on in that restroom!
Zhang Hao pretended to have heard nothing and continued eating his cake. After a while, the restroom door opened.
Dr. Xu came out, exhaled a breath, nonchalantly sat down among everyone, grabbed a handful of melon seeds, and started cracking them.
Afterward, a woman came out of the restroom, adjusting her clothes as she walked.
The blush on her cheeks proved that she had just experienced a heavenly ordeal.
"No wonder Dr. Xu is still single in his thirties, turns out he wants to play with all the female nurses in our department."
The person who said this was Lin Wan, and Dr. Xu raised an eyebrow, "We’re all adults here, a fling between a man and a woman is quite ordinary. Don’t you guys need to let off some steam?"
Upon hearing Dr. Xu say this, Zhang Hao’s head buzzed, completely blown away. Was this kind of topic even appropriate for public discussion?
Lin Wan said with a smile, "Up to this point, it’s just me and Nurse Xiao Ru who haven’t been ’devastated’ by Dr. Xu."
Then Dr. Xu laughed, "That’ll be soon enough. Who knows, I might take care of you next time."
Lin Wan, however, shook her head and moved her body towards Zhang Hao, daring to do this in front of everyone.
She took Zhang Hao’s arm and even rested her head against his shoulder.
"Dr. Xu, don’t be too confident. Our department’s new Doctor Zhang, his ’assets’ may not be inferior to yours."
As soon as she said this, all the female nurses in the private room turned their gaze towards Zhang Hao.
And each of their gazes froze on the area below his waist.
Zhang Hao quickly grabbed a cushion to shield himself, instinctively wanting to say something.
Dr. Xu looked over, "Lin Wan, don’t just say anything that comes to your mind. Besides, it’s you who are the most provocative in our department. Every new doctor who comes along gets teased by you."
Lin Wan was nonchalant, "I may be provocative, but not just anyone can get into my bed."
"Dr. Xu, don’t think that just because you’re good in that area, all women should fall at your feet. I certainly won’t."
Dr. Xu snorted lightly, but when he looked at Zhang Hao again, his eyes were filled with enmity.
Lin Wan was the most beautiful and the youngest in the surgical clinic.
And her figure was exceptional too.
Dr. Xu didn’t know how many times he had fantasized about Lin Wan beneath him, screaming out loud.
Yet Lin Wan never seemed to feel anything for him.
This Doctor Zhang had just arrived, and she was already fluttering around him like a butterfly, as if she was afraid he wouldn’t realize how easy she was to get.
"Nurse Lin, when you say that, it makes me a bit embarrassed, we are all colleagues after all."
"We’re here to celebrate Nurse Xiao Ru’s birthday today; let’s not talk about other topics."
The next second, Lin Wan suddenly stood up, let her coiled hair down, and slid the straps of her dress off her shoulders, turning it into an off-the-shoulder dress.
Without anyone knowing what she was thinking, she picked up the hem of her dress and sat right on Zhang Hao’s lap.
"Doctor Zhang, do you think I’m pretty?"
Zhang Hao didn’t want to lie; Lin Wan truly was beautiful, and her figure was indeed great.
"Nurse Lin is certainly very beautiful, and so are the others."
The next second, Lin Wan leaned in close to Zhang Hao’s face and gently kissed him on the lips.
"So Doctor Zhang, would you be willing to relieve my itch?"
Before Zhang Hao could react, Lin Wan stood up from his lap.
She took him, under the watchful eyes of everyone, to the restroom.
And she didn’t close the door to the restroom.
What surprised Zhang Hao even more was that Dr. Xu had followed them in.
"Lin Wan, you know I have feelings for you, yet you still do this in front of me."
"If you really get with him today, have you thought about the consequences?"
Lin Wan, leaning against Zhang Hao’s chest, said, "Dr. Xu, you were never my type to begin with, and besides, I am a bit of a germophobe."
"You’ve been with all those women in our department, and I said nothing, but you also can’t resist those from other departments, which I find disgusting."
Dr. Xu glared fiercely at Zhang Hao, grinding his teeth, "Doctor Zhang, if you know what’s good for you,"
"You’d better keep a certain distance from her, to prevent this woman from causing you any trouble."
