Chapter 269: Chapter 266 The Strawberry on the Neck
After ending the video call, He Qianhui blow-dried her wet, long hair.
After putting the hairdryer away, He Qianhui received a message from Feng Nuo.
She was already at the bar with the client.
And she wouldn’t be coming back tonight.
However, the message also emphasized, repeatedly, that she wouldn’t delay tomorrow’s flight.
After all, her luggage was still at the hotel; she had to come back early to pack.
He Qianhui charged her phone and then turned off the room lights, leaving only the bathroom light on for when she needed to get up in the night, so it wouldn’t be pitch-dark.
But not long after He Qianhui fell asleep, she actually had a dream.
In the dream, she was tied up tightly and fixed to the bed, and no matter how much she struggled, the rope that bound her only got tighter and tighter.
Then He Qianhui stopped struggling, to avoid causing herself more suffering.
Thinking it was Zhang Hao playing some kind of game with her, at first He Qianhui felt a little bit of joy in her heart.
But soon, the several people who entered the room made He Qianhui feel a hint of terror.
Each of them wore masks, and their statures varied, some were only 1.6 meters tall, while others were nearly 2 meters.
Their varying heights proved they weren’t the same person.
The most critical thing was that among these people, He Qianhui couldn’t find Zhang Hao’s figure.
Could it be that he wasn’t among them?
Or was it that he had intentionally found these people?
He Qianhui, who had initially given up struggling, began to struggle again because of this.
The bed underneath her began to shake with her struggles.
Those men surrounded her from all sides.
He Qianhui tried to scream but couldn’t make a sound, as if an invisible hand was choking her neck.
As those men were about to lay their hands on her, He Qianhui found strength from nowhere and cried out.
Awakening, she realized it was a dream and He Qianhui finally let her suspended heart settle back into her stomach.
Checking the time, it was already 2 am, and Feng Nuo still hadn’t returned; her bed was just as neat as before.
He Qianhui got up and took the water from the table and drank it dry.
But the fear in her heart hadn’t calmed down.
How could she have such a dream out of the blue?
She was never a frivolous woman, even when on business trips, she might let clients take a little advantage.
But she would keep her bottom line, absolutely not letting herself become an object for men’s amusement.
In the following few hours, He Qianhui slept quite soundly, at least she didn’t dream again.
The alarm clock at eight o’clock roused her gently from her sleep.
Thinking about catching the plane back home in a while, she still felt excited.
While washing up, she called Feng Nuo, urging her to come back quickly to pack their luggage.
She had thought that the young lady must have battled it out all night and wouldn’t be able to answer the phone at this hour.
Unexpectedly, the phone was answered after just one ring.
"Xiaohui, wait for me a little while, I’ll be at the hotel in a few minutes."
"Alright, take your time and be safe."
After washing her face, He Qianhui heard the knock on the door and quickly went to open it,
and sure enough, she saw Feng Nuo standing at the door, out of breath.
Even if she covered the unusual marks on her neck with her long hair,
He Qianhui, being experienced, noticed something was off at first glance.
"Not bad, it looks like the client from last night really liked you."
Feng Nuo shyly lowered her head, "He said he wanted me to be his girlfriend, but I think he’s a bit old for me."
"So I haven’t agreed yet. Xiaohui, do you think I should agree?"
This time, the client they were servicing was overall decent-looking.
At least he wasn’t old enough to be bald.
"That’s up to you, woman. The most important thing is to find a man who loves you,"
"Only then can you lead a comfortable life in the future. If he really likes you,"
"why not agree? Even just to try it out, there’s nothing wrong with that, right?"
Feng Nuo mulled over He Qianhui’s words all the way in his mind.
Although they were from the same hometown, and something substantial had happened between them last night,
the gap between them still couldn’t be erased, and Feng Nuo politely refused the other’s kindness.
After finishing up the loose ends of the business trip at the company, He Qianhui prepared to go home to rest for a couple of days.
When she was leaving, the sky was full of lightning and thunder, even though just twenty minutes before the sun had been shining bright.
In the blink of an eye, a torrential downpour was imminent; looking at the heavy rain outside, He Qianhui felt gloomy.
But it was already past four, just a little over an hour before Zhang Hao would be off work.
After thinking it over, He Qianhui decided to stay at the company until six in the evening.
At ten past six, she called Zhang Hao.
The moment the phone connected, she heard the sound of vehicles whizzing by.
"I was just about to call you. I’ll be there in two minutes. Get your stuff together and come down to wait for me."
In fact, He Qianhui had been ready for a while. The moment she received Zhang Hao’s call, she was already heading down with her bag in hand.
Upon arriving at the company entrance, the rain outside was still pouring heavily.
After waiting a little while, she saw a familiar car approaching.
It stopped right at the entrance of He Qianhui’s company, and as he got out, he opened the umbrella.
Making sure not a single drop of rain fell on He Qianhui.
"Were you not busy at the hospital today, to be able to leave work on time?"
"Not busy. If it had been, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to answer your call. Buckle up, let’s go home."
Every time she heard the four words "let’s go home," He Qianhui’s heart would pound with excitement.
She couldn’t quite describe the feeling—it was something akin to warmth.
"I’ll be home resting for the next couple of days, and tomorrow is the weekend. How about we go out and play for two days?"
"Sure, do you have any place in mind?"
"I do, but we might have to stay outdoors,"
"I’m all ears for your plan."
"Then on our way home, let’s stop by the supermarket. I’ll buy some ingredients, and we can have a picnic."
All arrangements were made by He Qianhui, while Zhang Hao was the one who executed them.
Knowing she was tired today, Zhang Hao also kept his desires in check.
Even when they got home, he didn’t press He Qianhui for anything.
After she had taken a bath, He Qianhui locked herself in the kitchen, where the sounds of chopping and dicing could be heard.
She kept at it until past eleven before she finally came out, satisfied.
"What are you doing? If someone didn’t know better, they might think you were dismembering someone in the kitchen."
"Of course, I’m preparing what we’ll eat tomorrow. There are rice balls, fried pork ribs, fruit, and your favorite fried chicken legs."
Actually, these items could be bought, but He Qianhui preferred to make them herself.
Everything was packed in lunch boxes, just waiting to be taken along the next day.
Zhang Hao patted the empty spot on the sofa next to him, and He Qianhui gracefully sat down.
There, snuggling in Zhang Hao’s arms, she watched the content playing on the television.
However, Zhang Hao had a habitual action—whenever He Qianhui lay on his legs,
his hand would subconsciously reach into her collar. This time was no exception.
He Qianhui was used to it, and she liked this feeling very much.
If she hadn’t, she would have protested long ago.
