Chapter 245: Chapter 242 Privacy Caution
Upon reaching the emergency room, Zhang Hao finally saw the patient, another car accident victim, though not as severely injured as the previous one.
The head of surgery sighed with relief when he saw Zhang Hao arrive.
"You’re here, I can relax now. I still have patients on my side, so I’m handing this one over to you."
Looking at the patient lying on the hospital bed, Zhang Hao also felt the gravity of the situation. After changing his clothes, he began the most basic examination.
Fortunately, the patient’s family was very cooperative and had no objections to his arrangements.
A thorough examination revealed that the patient’s condition was somewhat better than expected. As long as the vital signs stabilized, they could be moved to the operating room.
"Doctor Zhang, my daughter’s life is in your hands. No matter how much it costs, it doesn’t matter."
Seeing the family’s eagerness for the rescue, Zhang Hao’s confidence was greatly boosted.
As soon as the vital signs were stable, the patient was immediately taken to the operating room.
It took about three to four hours before Zhang Hao finished the last stitch of the suturing.
The patient was then sent to the ICU for observation.
The successful surgery was a joyous event for both the patient and the family.
Zhang Hao had taken a day off, and after finishing this surgery, he was ready to leave.
But upon remembering that he had left something in his department, he made one last trip back before departing.
Upon entering the department and before he even opened the locker where he stored his belongings, a woman cautiously walked in with her daughter.
In keeping with his duty as a doctor, Zhang Hao sat down to see the patients anyway.
The girl’s mother looked cautious, unsure of what was wrong with her daughter.
As Zhang Hao asked, she gave a vague response, seeming to find it difficult to speak clearly.
"Child’s mother, please trust the doctor. Tell us exactly what’s wrong with your child."
Encouraged by Zhang Hao’s words, the child’s mother finally calmed down.
"My daughter is twenty this year, but recently, her periods have been irregular. The last one was two months ago."
Hearing this, Zhang Hao first asked the girl if she had a boyfriend and whether she was sexually active.
After receiving a negative response, Zhang Hao then considered other possibilities.
He ultimately prescribed some herbal decoctions for the girl to drink. If there was no improvement, they would adjust the treatment.
The girl’s mother thanked him repeatedly, then took her daughter and left.
Seeing that no one else was waiting, Zhang Hao quickly departed.
Back home, the fatigue of the day finally caught up with him.
But even so, he still dragged his weary body to the bathroom for a quick shower.
However, compared to Zhang Hao’s fatigue, He Qianhui felt refreshed after a nap that afternoon.
As the sound of running water came from the bathroom, she didn’t ask any questions, simply holding the dirty clothes, she habitually opened the door and went in.
Zhang Hao, who was showering with his eyes closed, heard the noise and quickly opened his eyes.
"Why did you come in without knocking?"
"It’s just you and me in the house, why do I need to knock? Do you want these clothes washed or not?"
Zhang Hao wiped water from his face, "Wash them, but don’t forget the phone is still in the pocket."
He Qianhui took out the phone and inadvertently lit up the screen.
She saw an unread message displayed at the top.
"There’s a message. It came in ten minutes ago; I’ll check it for you."
Zhang Hao nodded, and He Qianhui stuffed the other clothes into the washing machine.
After unlocking the phone, she opened the message and saw it was from Lin Wan.
It was just a transaction, showing an amount of eight thousand yuan.
"Nurse Lin transferred money to you," He Qianhui said.
Zhang Hao asked with slight confusion, "How much?"
"Eight thousand."
This amount likely meant that two thousand was intended as a gift and the excess was returned.
"Oh, then just keep it."
"Should I reply to her message?"
He Qianhui felt that it seemed a bit improper to just take the money without saying a word. They should at least exchange a few sentences.
"Whether you reply or not doesn’t matter. We’ll see her again in the future, and you can still talk to her then."
Seeing that Zhang Hao had his own considerations, He Qianhui listened to him and accepted the money.
"You always let me look at your phone so brazenly. Doesn’t that make you uncomfortable?"
"Just looking at a phone, what’s there to be uncomfortable about? Besides, there are no secrets in my phone."
Zhang Hao finished his shower and dried his body with a towel.
Thinking that they had already been intimate once during the day, they probably wouldn’t need to again at night.
"I’m a bit tired today. I want to rest first."
"Alright, I’ll lie down too once I finish up here. You go ahead."
Before going back to the room, Zhang Hao made a point of walking around the kitchen, eventually washing a cucumber and munching on it on his way back.
When he saw He Qianhui, Zhang Hao teased her with the cucumber in his hand.
"This cucumber we bought is both straight and thick; it’s almost a pity to cook it."
He Qianhui immediately retorted, "Who made yours bend? After all this time, don’t you know I prefer them straight?"
After a couple of suggestive remarks, He Qianhui went straight back to the bedroom.
Zhang Hao followed behind her and after entering, he closed the door and drew the curtains shut.
"It’s really strange today. Usually, you leave the curtains open when we sleep. Why do you want them closed now?"
"Privacy," Zhang Hao said, deliberately enunciating each word.
But He Qianhui wouldn’t fall for his act and with a swoosh opened the curtains again.
"The room feels stuffy with the curtains drawn."
As she spoke, she began to undress in front of the window.
Zhang Hao, with the cucumber in his mouth, saw He Qianhui stripped down to her last piece of clothing and quickly stepped in front of her.
"What are you doing?" He Qianhui asked knowingly.
"What else can I do but shield you? The buildings in this complex are so close to each other."
"Besides, I know there are families living in that building across from us, including some on these floors. How bad would it be if a kid saw you?"
He Qianhui adjusted the clothes she was about to take off, "Just joking with you, let’s go to sleep."
Actually, it was still early at that time, but it had not been an easy day for either of them.
After freshening up, they lay in bed, Zhang Hao holding He Qianhui, and she snuggled into his embrace.
"I bet Nurse Lin has already started making a racket with the wedding pranks by now," He Qianhui suddenly said.
"I don’t know, I guess so."
"I noticed today that the groom has a lot of friends and relatives. I’m sure tonight will be unforgettable for them."
Zhang Hao looked down at her, "Why are you suddenly concerned about other people’s affairs?"
He Qianhui fell silent, just resting her face on Zhang Hao’s chest, quietly listening to his strong heartbeat.
The room was extremely quiet, and uncharacteristically, the two didn’t engage in any playful activities and gradually felt drowsy.
As their eyelids grew heavy, by the time they reopened, it was already the next morning.
Zhang Hao looked at He Qianhui, who was sound asleep in his arms, and couldn’t bring himself to wake her up.
Luckily, there was still time, and he could sneak in a little more sleep.
But just as his eyes closed, the alarm went off.
He Qianhui climbed out of bed with some reluctance, rubbing her sleepy eyes.
"I’ll go make you some breakfast. You shouldn’t go to work on an empty stomach."
Zhang Hao intended to say that he could just buy something on the way, and there was no need for her to go to so much trouble.
But He Qianhui said that the food from outside isn’t clean, and it’s better to eat what’s made at home.
