Chapter 237: Chapter 234 Special Relationship

Chapter 234 Uncommon Relations

When Zhang Hao heard the chief surgeon say that, he knew the man must have gotten the wrong idea.

Even Zhang Hao himself didn’t know when the chief surgeon started taking such an interest in his personal life.

"Don’t worry, it’s neither illegal, nor do I have any personal dealings with patients. Of course, it won’t affect my life, let alone interfere with my work."

With Zhang Hao’s words, the chief surgeon breathed a sigh of relief:

"That’s good, that’s good. To tell the truth, if your sister-in-law hadn’t suddenly gone back to her parent’s home last night, I would have rallied and shown her just how impressive I am."

Zhang Hao deliberately said, "Then you better be careful. If your sister-in-law goes back to her parent’s home, she might start exchanging glances with her childhood sweetheart."

"You might find yourself wearing an extra hat on top of your head."

The chief surgeon disliked that Zhang Hao couldn’t say anything nice.

At the same time, he added, "My sister-in-law’s childhood sweetheart is me, so the thing you’re worried about is unlikely to happen."

Seeing the director say this, Zhang Hao looked at him with surprise in his eyes.

"Really? Then the two of you are truly a match made in heaven. You must cherish your sister-in-law."

"If you can’t keep up anymore, come find me. I’ll prescribe you a medicine that will make you feel twenty years younger."

The chief surgeon patted Zhang Hao on the shoulder: "You brat, I don’t need your help yet."

When Zhang Hao got to the department, he changed into his white coat as usual and sat down. Before long, Qin Miaoke came over.

She also noticed that Zhang Hao seemed a little different today and gave him several curious glances.

With a serious expression, she asked, "What’s the matter with you?"

"What could be wrong with me? I’m fine," Zhang Hao replied nonchalantly.

"No, you’re definitely hiding something."

"What could I be hiding? Let’s get to work."

By the time Lin Wan arrived, Zhang Hao was diagnosing the pulse of the day’s first patient.

She gave him a look.

But Zhang Hao didn’t understand, and even asked curiously, "What’s wrong?"

Seeing that Zhang Hao didn’t catch her hint, Lin Wan whispered in his ear.

"That female patient who came the other day is back. Do you want to see her or not?"

Thinking of that troublesome female patient, Zhang Hao also felt extremely helpless.

If he agreed to see her, wouldn’t that mean interrupting his work?

But if he refused, it would be as if he were afraid of her.

"Tell her I’m working," he said.

Lin Wan hadn’t expected to suddenly become a messenger between two people, but she was quite willing to do the favor.

Coming out of the department, she saw the female patient sitting on an iron chair outside.

Lin Wan very kindly said to her, "Mr. Zhang is busy today. You can choose to come to see him after work."

As soon as the woman heard "after work," she got anxious.

"After work, are you kidding? Last time I came to find him after work."

"But guess what happened? He got into a taxi and left without looking back."

"Do you think I have plenty of time? I also squeezed time out of my schedule to find him."

"I never expected your Mr. Zhang to be so arrogant."

Lin Wan naturally didn’t bother with it too much; as long as it didn’t interrupt her work, anything was fine.

Since the woman wanted to wait, she let her wait.

Zhang Hao was busy until noon before he finally had a moment to breathe.

Just as he was thinking of going to the cafeteria with Lin Wan for lunch, upon leaving the department, the female patient came straight toward him.

"Mr. Zhang, you’ve finally come out. I thought you were too scared to see me."

Seeing her, Zhang Hao felt an indescribable sense of despair.

Last time it was by chance that he managed to shake her off, but this time he didn’t have the confidence to do so again.

After all, the afternoon was even longer.

The surgical director, at this moment, seemed to drop from the sky: "Mr. Zhang, Mr. Zhang, come here for a moment."

Seeing the surgical director beckoning to him, Zhang Hao ran over without hesitation.

"What’s happened?"

"There’s a surgery that needs your help; do you have time?"

"I do!"

Zhang Hao was so hungry he could feel his front touching his back, but compared to that female patient, he much preferred to keep working on an empty stomach.

However, that woman went directly to the face of the surgical director.

"Director, are you doing this on purpose? I had just met with Mr. Zhang, and you called him away. You’re intentionally preventing us from speaking, aren’t you?"

The surgical director was unimpressed by the woman’s tactics.

"Sorry, but the patient in the operating room can’t wait."

The surgical director gave Zhang Hao a look, and Zhang Hao returned an apologetic glance to the female patient.

Then he followed the director to the operating room.

While walking, Zhang Hao could not help but be grateful.

"I was trying to think of an excuse to get away from that female patient; thankfully, you showed up."

The surgical director said, "This is no excuse; the patient is really waiting for you. If I didn’t have another surgery, I wouldn’t have asked for you."

After finishing the surgery, it was already four in the afternoon. Zhang Hao had a hunch that the woman would not have waited until now.

True enough, when he returned to his own department, he found that the woman was long gone.

After asking Lin Wan, he learned that the woman had left only half an hour earlier. If he had managed to return half an hour sooner, maybe he would have still caught her.

Zhang Hao was about to say something when he suddenly heard a knock on the door.

Patients who came to see the doctor usually did not knock.

So this knocking was somewhat startling.

Zhang Hao hurriedly turned around, expecting another patient even before clearly seeing who it was.

Only when he saw clearly did he realize it was He Qianhui.

"Xiaohui! What are you doing here?"

Almost subconsciously, Zhang Hao addressed her that way.

"Oh? Do you have some kind of secret here that I shouldn’t come by?" He Qianhui joked back.

"Not at all."

"I just came back from the city hospital. Uncle is much better now; if nothing unexpected happens, he should be able to go home and recuperate in a couple of days. He also told me to tell you not to worry."

Zhang Hao acknowledged with a sound, knowing all too well his father’s condition.

"Have a seat; I’ll get you a cup of water."

What seemed like a perfectly normal gesture to Zhang Hao appeared quite strange to Lin Wan.

She had never seen Zhang Hao be so attentive before.

So the woman who had come must mean something quite special to him.

"Your new office is quite spacious; it looks like your responsibilities are getting bigger."

He Qianhui was about to say something else when she saw patients approaching.

She quickly got up to give up her seat,

allowing Zhang Hao to continue working.

"I just came by to see how things were, nothing important; I don’t want to interrupt your work, I’ll leave first."

He Qianhui had just said she would leave when Zhang Hao looked up to stop her: "I’m about to finish work; wait a little while so we can leave together and maybe go out for dinner."

But seeing so many patients outside the department, He Qianhui felt what Zhang Hao said was impractical.

"No need, I’ll just make something to eat at home tonight. You go ahead with your work."

He Qianhui insisted on leaving, and Zhang Hao could not leave his post, so he had no choice but to let her go.

Qin Miaoke had just returned from outside and immediately felt that the atmosphere in the department was a bit off.

She proactively approached Lin Wan to ask, "Lin Wan, what’s going on here? Everyone looks so serious."

However, Lin Wan was not in high spirits either and did not answer Qin Miaoke’s question.
