Chapter 197: Chapter 195: Dig it out with your hands
"Mr. Zhang, I’ve been reading on my own recently, and there are always many places I don’t quite understand," Xia Jingwen said.
"I don’t know if you have the time to help me clarify my doubts."
"Actually, there are many ways to acquire knowledge online. As for the things in the books, I’ve mostly forgotten them after so long."
"Moreover, my major isn’t in traditional Chinese medicine. Blindly answering your questions might lead you astray."
As Zhang Hao spoke, he wrote a prescription for a patient.
The patient was quite happy, "Mr. Zhang, don’t be so modest, your medical skills are so profound."
"All my friends know about it, one of my sisters came to you for treatment before."
"After taking just one dose of the medicine, her pain was greatly relieved. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have come so far to see you."
Zhang Hao was overjoyed upon hearing this, "Really, I hope I can cure your illness this time too."
"Definitely, I won’t bother you anymore, Mr. Zhang."
As soon as the patient left, Zhang Hao immediately took the chance to go to the water dispenser to get a cup of water for himself.
Otherwise, who knows when the next patient will arrive; he was already parched.
Seeing this, Xia Jing quickly took a packet of chrysanthemum tea from her locker.
"Doctor Zhang, drink this. It’s good for moistening the throat and clearing the lungs. I’ll brew it for you," she said.
Xia Jing tore open the small packet of chrysanthemum tea as she spoke.
Zhang Hao instinctively wanted to refuse, but it was already too late.
But drinking chrysanthemum tea once wouldn’t make much of a difference, "Thanks for the chrysanthemum tea," he said.
With no patients around for the moment, Zhang Hao sat at his desk, occasionally flipping through the thick medical records.
The surgical clinic had been calm these last couple of days as if the busiest days had passed.
The remaining time was quiet and peaceful, which actually was the best scenario for the hospital. A world without disease or disaster, how wonderful that would be.
Ding-dong!
His phone rang. Zhang Hao picked it up and saw a message from Tu Ya.
"Hengdun Hotel, room 1308, I’m waiting for you here."
After reading the message, a subtle smile crept on Zhang Hao’s lips.
Xia Jing, who was nearby, also wanted to sneak a peek, but Zhang Hao’s movements were so quick that he turned off the screen immediately.
Xia Jing only caught a glimpse of four digits, but she had already forgotten how they were arranged.
As the end of the workday approached, Zhang Hao was eager to find out if any more patients were coming.
He certainly didn’t want to work overtime again.
Just before leaving, He Qianhui called him, saying she had to work overtime tonight and would return very late, unable to cook for him.
Naturally, Zhang Hao didn’t raise any objections to this.
Hearing a woman’s voice on the other end of the phone, Xia Jing asked curiously, "Mr. Zhang, do a lot of people like you?"
Zhang Hao didn’t understand the meaning behind Xia Jing’s question.
"Is there something you want to say?" he asked.
Xia Jing shook her head, "I just wanted to know if many people like Mr. Zhang. If there are many, I won’t get involved, but if not, I’d like to try my luck."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Hao felt uncomfortable, "Try what? We are just ordinary colleagues, not here for matchmaking."
"From now on, aside from work, let’s not discuss personal matters," he said.
Xia Jing didn’t expect Zhang Hao to reject her so bluntly, which oddly sparked her curiosity even more.
"Where’s Lin Wan, haven’t seen her around for half the day," Zhang Hao said, looking around.
"I think Nurse Lin went to take care of a patient," Xia Jing replied.
Zhang Hao’s expression turned to one of confusion, and he immediately stood up and went to the ward.
He saw Lin Wan bending over, inserting a needle for a male patient.
Standing at the doorway of the ward, Zhang Hao spotted the endless allure within the open collar of Lin Wan’s uniform.
The patient lying in the bed was also desperately pouring his gaze into that neckline.
"Nurse Lin, how old are you this year, do you have a husband, do you have any children?"
Lin Wan smiled and looked up, saying, "I have none of those, had a boyfriend before, but for various reasons, we couldn’t stay together, it’s quite a pity."
The male patient laughed and said, "Not a pity, not a pity at all, people are so fickle these days. If I were ten years younger, I’d definitely pursue you."
"I’d have flowers and Western dinners, all ready for you, it’s just too bad I’m of this age now, it might seem a bit inappropriate to chase you."
Lin Wan did not say anything, just offered a faint smile.
"Youth is great, isn’t it? Not like me, at this age, my face is all wrinkled, wanting to be young doesn’t work anymore."
After Lin Wan finished giving him the injection, she straightened up. Just as she was turning around, the man suddenly pinched her bottom.
Lin Wan turned back sharply, the gentle look on her face immediately turning fierce.
The male patient chuckled and said, "Nurse, your butt feels nice to the touch, do you exercise it often?"
Lin Wan frowned and didn’t speak, carrying the tray in her hand she started to walk out.
She had not taken two steps when she saw Zhang Hao standing at the entrance to the ward.
"Mr. Zhang, what brings you here?"
"Just came to check on things."
Lin Wan nodded without saying a word, while Zhang Hao went over to the male patient’s bed and glanced over.
"This isn’t the right medicine, is it?"
The male patient, hearing this, immediately became frightened and hurried to remove the needle from his hand.
"What do you mean the wrong medicine? Isn’t your hospital strict about these things? Watch out, I might complain about you."
Zhang Hao ignored him, "It should be two bottles, right?"
Lin Wan uttered a sound of realization, clearly not understanding what Zhang Hao meant.
"It should be two bottles of medicine. How come you only used one? Or has the other not been delivered yet?"
"There’s only this one left, might need to prepare some other one in a while," Lin Wan said.
Zhang Hao nodded and pressed on the patient’s body.
"Doesn’t seem like you’re recovering well, looks like we might need to increase the dosage if you want to be discharged."
The patient’s face went pale upon hearing this, "Doctor, it’s just a sore throat, you make it sound as if I’ve got a terminal illness."
"A sore throat, if neglected, can very likely turn into laryngeal cancer or some other throat disease. Of course, we want to treat it as early as possible, let me take a look."
The patient opened his mouth, and Zhang Hao went to work with a tongue depressor, rummaging around inside.
The man gagged a few times, almost throwing up.
"See, your condition hasn’t improved. Let me prescribe you something new."
Having said that, he packed up his things and headed out of the ward.
Lin Wan followed Zhang Hao out.
"Thanks for that," Lin Wan said softly.
"No need to thank me, I can’t stand that kind of person, pretending to be kind but doing sleazy and low things. Come, let me see if your butt is red from his pinch."
As he spoke, Zhang Hao tried to lift Lin Wan’s nurse’s uniform.
But this was the corridor of the ward, with patients and family members coming and going.
"Zhang Hao, you’re doing this on purpose."
Zhang Hao chuckled and said, "What, can’t I even look?"
Lin Wan was so annoyed she stamped her foot. She had just been grateful for him sticking up for her, and now she was somewhat regretting it.
This Zhang Hao always managed to surprise her with his unexpected actions, leaving her not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
"Make sure you leave work on time today, there aren’t many patients left. I need to go home for a bit tonight, so I won’t be able to accompany you," he said.
"Hopefully, you won’t miss me tonight. If you do, just use your hand to scratch it out."
