Chapter 192: Chapter 190 The Charming and Still Youthful Lady Boss

"The aunt’s injury wasn’t serious, was it? Why didn’t you mention this sooner? You had me thinking you were seeing some other woman."

The most heartbreaking thing for Lin Wan was what Zhang Hao said to her that day, about finding a boyfriend.

She was beautiful and never lacked admirers, so why did she remain devoted to Zhang Hao?

It was all because he appealed to her in every way, and she hoped that, with time, affection would develop between them.

As for whether ’with time, affection would develop’ was a noun or a verb, only Lin Wan knew.

"I was in a hurry at the time, so I didn’t have the chance to tell you. You’re not mad at me anymore, right?"

Lin Wan turned away, smiling faintly where Zhang Hao couldn’t see.

"Mad? Of course, I’m mad, so you have to take me out to dinner tonight."

Taking someone out to dinner wasn’t a big deal, so Zhang Hao took out his salary card: "There might not be much money in here, but it’s definitely enough to treat you to dinner."

Before he could finish speaking, Xia Jing entered, carrying a stack of books.

"Mr. Zhang, Lin Wan, are you two going out for dinner? Could you take me with you?"

According to Lin Wan’s wishes, she naturally did not want to take her along, but she found it difficult to outright refuse and hoped Zhang Hao would step in at this critical moment.

"Nurse Xia, this meal is my way of apologizing to Nurse Lin, so it’s not quite appropriate to have a third person present."

"Oh, I see, then I can’t go. Mr. Zhang, I’ll head off work then."

As soon as Xia Jing left, Zhang Hao also changed his clothes: "Actually, Nurse Xia is quite nice. You shouldn’t always pick on her."

Having changed her clothes, Lin Wan left the consultation room with her bag on her back.

"Alright, from now on, I’ll treat her like a sister. But tonight, you have to... satisfy me well!"

Now it was Zhang Hao’s turn to sigh. Before the misunderstanding was cleared up, although it was awkward for them to be together, it hadn’t affected other things.

But now that the misunderstanding had been resolved, his poor little brother was going to have tough days again.

Catching up to Lin Wan’s pace, Zhang Hao asked, "Do you women have strong desires in that department?"

"What do you mean? Are you saying I ask for too much?" Lin Wan felt her own needs weren’t that great.

But one thing was hard to explain: why did she frequently have such thoughts in front of Zhang Hao, but never with anyone else?

"Didn’t I say before, I only have feelings for you!"

For the restaurant, Zhang Hao chose one they used to frequent often, where he was very familiar with the proprietress.

When the two arrived, the proprietress was attending to other customers.

"This bottle of wine is one hundred eighty, we have clear pricing here, no deceiving customers."

"Madam, give us a discount, will you? We always eat here, and we’ll bring even more people to patronize your business in the future!"

The proprietress clicked her tongue: "Alright then, let’s round it down, I’ll take five hundred from you!"

The proprietress was probably around thirty-five, well-maintained, and didn’t show many signs of aging on her face.

Even though she wore an apron, the beige, tight-fitting knit top underneath outlined her figure vividly.

Her rounded upper body looked like two big white steamed buns, the knit top must be thin, as even the pattern on her bra could be seen.

"Madam, we’re going to leave for now. We’ll bring some buddies over another day."

However, the proprietress, hand on her hip, leaning on the table said, "Don’t you dare, do you want to work me to death?"

The few male customers laughed and left, picking their teeth.

"Hao, sorry, I was just settling the bill for that table. What are you two having today?"

The lady boss was leaning over to wipe the tables while she took out the menu, and seeing Zhang Hao with a woman, she smartly handed the menu to Lin Wan.

"Let’s start with a bottle of orange juice, no alcohol, I still have things to do tonight," Zhang Hao said.

With a knowing look, the lady boss said, "Sure, got it. Then you should order the stir-fried leeks with squid."

Some things couldn’t be said outright, but Lin Wan immediately understood: "Lady boss, what are you saying? We’re just colleagues, ordinary colleagues."

The more you stress something, the less likely it’s the case.

"If that’s not the case, then why are you blushing? Seems like Hao is quite capable," the lady boss teased.

Lin Wan focused all her attention on the menu, although the dishes she liked were generally common and not very expensive.

After choosing a few dishes good for accompanying rice, she handed the menu to Zhang Hao to see if there was anything else he wanted to eat.

The lady boss, with quick hands and eyes, snatched the menu from Zhang Hao’s hands and said with a smile, "I know all his preferences, just wait a bit!"

Lin Wan felt that the lady boss was being a bit too disrespectful.

"How did you get to know this lady boss? It looks like you two are quite close," Lin Wan asked.

"I used to eat here often when I was in school. Back then it was just a small restaurant. Later, the lady boss’s husband had an accident and died," Zhang Hao explained.

"She used the compensation money to take over this place, and now she’s a little lady boss herself," Zhang Hao added.

Lin Wan looked around; indeed, the restaurant wasn’t small, with more than a dozen tables, and it was very clean.

It didn’t look like a typical street-side joint that seemed thrown together.

"I see, I thought you two had some kind of shady relationship," she said.

Zhang Hao unscrewed a bottle of drink and poured her a cup.

"Don’t always think like that. How wronged I am, and the lady boss is not that kind of person either. She has always treated me like a younger brother," he defended.

Lin Wan took a sip of her drink, and the first dishes to arrive were two cold plates.

Because she was well acquainted with Zhang Hao, Lin Wan wasn’t too reserved, but rather relaxed.

She had only had a few bites when the lady boss came out from the back and made a phone call.

"Okay, okay, I know. I will have it ready for you in a moment, packed and sent over. What, want me to come personally? If you want me to deliver it myself, you’ve got to pay double for the delivery fee," she said.

Watching the lady boss’s smiling face, Zhang Hao’s mind conjured some not-so-child-friendly scenes.

"Hao, I’m stepping out for a bit. You two take your time eating," the lady boss said as she dropped the words and removed her apron, hurrying the kitchen chef to quicken his pace.

Ten minutes later, the lady boss was carrying a white plastic bag, stacked with four or five takeout boxes.

"Lady boss, where are you going to deliver food that you need to go personally?" Lin Wan asked.

"Oh, they’re planning to build a mall nearby, and the foreman from the construction site is a fellow villager of mine," the lady boss replied.

"He’s eaten here a few times, and we grew familiar. He just ordered some dishes and said he wouldn’t be able to come pick it up, so he asked me to deliver it."

Zhang Hao, propping his cheek with one hand, chuckled and said, "Just delivering some food and the lady boss is all dressed up so pretty. Be careful you might not return tonight."

The lady boss came over and slapped Zhang Hao on the shoulder.

"Kid, you’re joking at my expense, thinking of giving you a discount on this meal," she teased back.

"Now I should charge you an extra ten bucks. The drink is 20, and I’m not gonna fuss with you. I need to hurry up and go, otherwise, the dishes will get cold," she said.

With those words, the lady boss sashayed out of the restaurant, looking quite pleased with herself.
