Chapter 190: Chapter 188 The Indomitable Golden Spear Prescription

Once she figured things out, Lin Wan went to work.

Unexpectedly, the first patient she attended to this morning was Mrs. Wang.

She had not interacted with her much, but having worked at the hospital for so long, she had heard of her.

"If there’s nothing else, we won’t disturb you any longer, we’ll be on our way now."

Accompanied by her husband, Mrs. Wang went to the pharmacy to get medicine.

Once they left, the consultation room became eerily quiet.

"Xu Mi and Ling Tong, why aren’t they here yet? Do they not want their internship credits anymore?"

Lin Wan was preparing medical equipment to the side, not intending to bother with Zhang Hao, but if she didn’t respond at that moment, the atmosphere would become even more awkward.

"I don’t know. Did they send you a message?"

Zhang Hao picked up his phone and immediately checked; indeed, he had received messages from Xu Mi and Ling Tong.

Half an hour before, they had asked for leave, saying something had come up, and they couldn’t make it.

Zhang Hao didn’t want to make it difficult for the two interns, so he approved their leave, but nobody expected that so many patients would come in after that.

Once Mrs. Wang and her husband left, patients began arriving at the traditional medicine consultation room one after the other.

The entire morning, Zhang Hao’s behind didn’t leave his chair.

He couldn’t even manage to use the restroom, having to hold it in the whole time.

Especially the last one to come was beyond Zhang Hao’s expectation; had he not seen the person, he almost couldn’t remember that he had such a friend.

"The prescription you gave me before has all been taken, and my cough is indeed almost better, so this time I came to you wanting a prescription for ’Stalwart Soldier’."

Seeing an old friend come over, Zhang Hao was happy and didn’t delay given his request.

After all, he had registered to come in, and being friends with him wouldn’t mean earning a cent less.

"Alright, let me take your pulse."

Wei Heng extended his hand for Zhang Hao to conveniently take his pulse. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

This time, the pulse indeed showed significant improvement; at least Wei Heng’s constitution was much stronger than before.

"It looks like you can take normal medication now. Have you been practicing restraint during this period?"

Wei Heng thought for a moment, "In any case, my marriage may have been saved. My wife hasn’t been mentioning going back to her parents’ house lately and has been helping me manage the resort’s business."

Zhang Hao nodded in satisfaction, "Your body hasn’t fully recovered yet, so you should be moderate in that aspect of your life. You wouldn’t want to undo all the good progress, right?"

Wei Heng nodded again and again, thinking that Zhang Hao made a lot of sense; otherwise, he wouldn’t have bothered coming all the way from the suburbs.

Going back and forth would take hours, and half a day’s work would be gone.

"I’ll write you another prescription, a warming tonic. If the effect of the medicine is too strong all at once, I’m afraid you won’t be able to take it."

Nowadays, doctors like Zhang Hao who truly care for their patients are few and far between.

Wei Heng felt lucky to know Zhang Hao.

So, before coming, he had purposely rummaged through his belongings to find a membership card.

When the resort was first established, there was a membership system in place for a while.

However, because of this barrier, many guests who wanted to visit were turned away.

Over time, to ensure stable revenues, Wei Heng decided to abolish the membership system.

Anyone who wanted to visit could now come over; while the membership card had become an antique, its effectiveness was still valid.

"What is this?" Zhang Hao asked curiously.

"It’s an old thing, you could consider it a VIP card for the resort. Next time you have time to come over,"

"just present this card, and everything—food, drinks, accommodation—will all be free. But don’t tell outsiders about this great deal."

Zhang Hao naturally wouldn’t tell others, guessing that this was Wei Heng’s way of expressing his gratitude.

However, as a doctor, he didn’t have too much time to visit the resort.

"Okay, then thank you for that."

Wei Heng took the prescription and left, and Zhang Hao finally finished a morning of busyness.

After tidying up her things, Lin Wan picked up her lunch box, ready to get some food in the cafeteria.

Zhang Hao also took out his own bowl and chopsticks from the cabinet, but as soon as Lin Wan saw this, she quickly put them back.

"Aren’t you going to eat?" asked Zhang Hao.

"I suddenly don’t feel like eating in the cafeteria."

"Then I won’t go either. I heard that there’s a new spicy hot pot restaurant nearby the hospital. Don’t you girls all like that?"

Lin Wan wanted to decline, but she liked Zhang Hao’s gentle insistence.

Eventually, after a bit of searching, they found the newly opened spicy hot pot place.

But because of the gap that had grown between them the night before, their interaction was a bit awkward.

Lin Wan ate with her head down, focused on what was in her bowl, while Zhang Hao was not so keen on these things.

Yet, thinking about the possibility of having to see even more patients in the afternoon, he forced himself to eat the entire bowl, soup and all.

However, for someone with Zhang Hao’s appetite, such a small bowl was certainly not enough.

Seeing that the menu also offered pies, Lin Wan ordered two more for him.

The two were chatting merrily when another customer entered the restaurant.

"Boss, extra spicy and extra numb, less noodles and more veggies, please."

At the sound of the voice, Zhang Hao felt a flicker of familiarity, as if he had heard it somewhere before.

Curious, he turned his head to look and realized the new arrival was Xia Jing.

"Mr. Zhang, you’re here for lunch too," she noted.

Zhang Hao nodded, "The taste here is good and the prices are reasonable. We could come here more often."

Xia Jing had intended to find a table for herself, but seeing Zhang Hao there, she took a seat next to him.

"Yeah, I really like eating here. I come almost every other day. Doctor Zhang, who is this?"

After a brief chat, Xia Jing finally took notice of Lin Wan, who had been silent all along.

The two sitting face-to-face at the same table suggested a close relationship.

"She’s a nurse from our department, her surname is Lin, probably two years older than you."

Xia Jing was quick to react, cheerfully calling out "Sister Lin," but Lin Wan felt that this address made her seem old.

However, since they were out in public, it was not the place to make a scene.

"Don’t call me sister, just Lin Wan is fine," emphasized Lin Wan.

"Mr. Zhang, I mentioned to the head nurse yesterday that I want to transfer departments. What sections in our hospital would be suitable for me?"

Zhang Hao didn’t know Xia Jing well and had no idea about her work capabilities.

Now that this issue was before him, he was unsure how to answer.

"What kind of section is suitable for you should be arranged by the head nurse. I’m not the head nurse; how could I make such a decision?"

Xia Jing scooted closer to Zhang Hao, nearly shoulder to shoulder with him, "What I mean is, could I work in the traditional Chinese medicine clinic?"

"I’ve heard that you have only Sister Lin as a nurse there. If I came, she would have someone to share the workload with."

When Lin Wan heard Xia Jing say this, she felt rather displeased.

"What do you mean? Do you want to work in the traditional Chinese medicine clinic? But it’s not that busy here, and I can manage on my own."

Lin Wan was the first to reject Xia Jing’s idea and proposed arrangement.

It was clear that what Mrs. Wang had said was true!

This young nurse obviously had some unrealistic ideas about Zhang Hao.

It was essential to nip such thoughts in the bud, not allowing them to grow unchecked and threaten her own position.
