Chapter 174: Chapter 172: Running Away from Home
Zhao Qing had said similar things before, and now no one knew where she was.
"Since you’ve already made your decision, I have no right to interfere, so I wish you a smooth journey."
Song Xin had been under observation at the hospital for half a day, and all her health indicators were trending normal.
There was no need for Zhang Hao to continue staying by her side, because their relationship had become inexplicably awkward no matter what.
As she was about to leave the hospital, Song Xin hugged Zhang Hao, resting her chin on his shoulder, and said, "This hug, I’m afraid I won’t be able to hug you like this ever again."
Zhang Hao didn’t say much, just gave a symbolic hug back.
After they parted ways, Song Xin left decisively, disappearing from his sight.
Zhang Hao’s phone buzzed twice.
It was a WeChat message from Song Xin, returning the three thousand yuan she had borrowed, along with the medical expenses Zhang Hao had advanced today.
It wasn’t a lot of money, but Zhang Hao didn’t accept it.
It seemed Song Xin knew Zhang Hao wouldn’t accept it, because five minutes after the transfer she sent another message.
"Take it. Undeserved rewards are not welcome."
Seeing this message, Zhang Hao finally accepted the transfer, which included three thousand yuan he had borrowed from his cousin.
After much hesitation, Zhang Hao decided to transfer the money, but halfway through the operation, he found out Liu Gang had deleted him as a friend.
Transfer failed!
Thinking of He Qianhui, Zhang Hao made a call to her, which took a long while to be answered.
"Xiaohui, I have something to tell you."
"Hao, be quick, I have a client here."
"My cousin had lent me three thousand yuan, and I just tried to return it to him but found out he blacklisted and deleted me, so I’ll give you the money."
He Qianhui didn’t know about the money Liu Gang had lent out. Before the call ended, she received the money Zhang Hao transferred – exactly three thousand yuan.
He Qianhui accepted the money.
As for Liu Gang’s friend request, He Qianhui couldn’t just pocket the money.
After transferring it to him, Liu Gang immediately replied to her message, asking what the money was for.
He Qianhui sent a voice message back without waiting for Liu Gang to reply, and then entered the private room behind her.
As soon as she entered, two drinks were served in front of He Qianhui.
"Xiaohui, you went to the bathroom; why did you take so long? Mr. Zhang is getting angry and has penalized you with three drinks."
Drinking penalties were no big deal for He Qianhui; the boss had already discussed this with her before the trip.
In the whole company, only He Qianhui had the highest beauty and the best figure, and it was said she might catch Mr. Zhang’s eye.
If Mr. Zhang made any improper moves towards her during the trip, they hoped she would tolerate it.
At first, He Qianhui was somewhat reluctant, not wanting to offer herself up for the sake of leadership.
But she didn’t want to live a life with handouts any longer, so she had to toughen up.
After a night of deep thought, He Qianhui accepted the assignment for the business trip.
She had thought Mr. Zhang would be very bold, but in reality, he just touched her leg, touched her hand, asked her some random questions.
All within what He Qianhui could tolerate.
"Alright, Mr. Zhang, then I shall drink up, but if I get drunk after these three drinks, you’ll have to take me back to the hotel," she said.
In a room of five or six people, all except He Qianhui were men.
"Look at that, Mr. Zhang, did you hear that? Miss He is giving you a hint," one of the men said.
"Miss He is beautiful and has a great figure; I’m sure she’s also competent in her work. I wonder when I’ll be so fortunate to experience such charm," said another.
"You can stop dreaming about it. Miss He deals with huge contracts in the millions. Your tiny deals aren’t even enough to fill the gaps in her teeth. A smile from her is all you get."
In front of Mr. Zhang, He Qianhui downed those three glasses of liquor without leaving a drop.
Zhang Hao, taking advantage of the fact that it wasn’t completely dark yet, hurried back to Lin Wan’s place.
Lin Wan woke up to find Zhang Hao already gone and thought he wouldn’t be back today, so she was preparing to make some noodles for herself.
Just then, Zhang Hao pushed the door open, with takeout food in his hands.
"How come you’re back? I thought you’d left and weren’t coming back."
"There’s nobody home, it feels too lonely being alone, so I came over. Bring me some plates."
Lin Wan had already started to see Zhang Hao as somewhat of a boyfriend, but his attitude didn’t seem to reflect that.
However, Lin Wan didn’t mind these details and turned to get some clean plates from the kitchen.
"What delicious food did you buy?"
"Your favorites, but most importantly, I bought a roast duck."
"What did you do today? You seem a bit off."
Zhang Hao meticulously arranged the food from the box into the plates, focusing intently on the task.
"Nothing much, just that right after I woke up, I got a message from Miss Song. A passerby found her passed out and contacted me for help."
Lin Wan’s spirits fell, thinking about how Zhang Hao treated Song Xin the night before at the food stall. It hadn’t been good.
How come overnight his behavior changed so much that he even started to care about her health?
"You really are one to say one thing and do another. You blatantly distance yourself from others, but the moment something happens, you rush to their aid."
Zhang Hao paused, thought carefully about what Lin Wan had just said, and realized it did seem true.
"But you don’t need to worry anymore. Miss Song is about to go abroad, and she doesn’t plan to come back."
Lin Wan let out a sound of surprise, but her eyes couldn’t hide her delight. "Really? Although going abroad isn’t that difficult these days."
Of all the women that appeared around Zhang Hao, it was Song Xin who was the most aggressive.
But Lin Wan hadn’t expected that this rival would soon be leaving the country.
Even real couples struggle to survive the distance and eventually part ways.
Zhang Hao and Song Xin weren’t even lovers, so their separation was as if one of them had died.
Song Xin tore into a duck leg, savoring it deliciously!
At nine in the evening, Zhang Hao prepared to head home, but Lin Wan wouldn’t agree to it.
"It’s already this late, why go back? If you’re worried about not being energetic for work tomorrow, then I won’t demand anything tonight."
Though her mouth said no, Lin Wan’s hand was honest, already reaching between Zhang Hao’s legs.
Even through his thick trousers, she could feel that thing gradually hardening and enlarging.
"I haven’t been home for two days. I’ll come over to be with you tomorrow, okay?"
After some persuasion, Lin Wan finally allowed Zhang Hao to leave.
As soon as he left, Lin Wan felt a deep sense of loneliness. The whole house was so quiet that a needle dropping would sound like a thunderclap.
On the way home, Zhang Hao received a call from He Qianhui.
"Hao, do you have time at three in the afternoon day after tomorrow? Can you pick me up at the airport?"
"Yes, the hospital hasn’t been too busy these last couple of days. Not many patients."
Zhang Hao promptly agreed to He Qianhui’s request, thinking her first business trip hadn’t been as bad as she’d expected.
When he got home, his parents were watching television in the living room. Seeing their son return, they immediately called him over.
