Chapter 140: Chapter 138 Be My Woman
The bold words "Divorce Agreement" caught Liu Gang’s eye as he incessantly bit his head.
"No, no, no, no, I won’t sign, even if it kills me, I could never divorce you."
The divorce agreement, in black and white, was torn to shreds by Liu Gang.
Paper scraps fluttered to the floor, and He Qianhui knew she could never go back to Liu Gang.
"Hao, I might need to have a talk with your cousin, it’s not convenient for you to be here, you go back first, and I’ll invite you over for dumplings another day."
Zhang Hao also knew this place was not suitable for him to stay long.
"Sister-in-law, I’ll be in the car downstairs, if anything happens, just call me or stand on the balcony and shout."
After Zhang Hao put on his clothes and left, the not-so-large room was left with only He Qianhui and Liu Gang.
The two stood still like telegraph poles, not even daring to breathe loudly.
Zhang Hao came downstairs and got back into his car, although he didn’t usually smoke much.
But today’s complicated and messy affair made him relent and take out a cigarette.
The rash smoking stung his eyes so much that tears came out.
Perhaps he should not have gone, maybe he should have stayed there to keep Sister-in-law from being threatened.
But then he thought, the couple had been apart for so long, they should sit down and have a proper conversation.
Like his parents said, "The one who tied the bell must be the one to untie it."
Taking advantage of the time, Zhang Hao drove to the nearby supermarket to browse around.
He had no idea how much time he spent there, but by the time he came out,
he had received a message from Sister-in-law.
In her presence, his cousin had signed the divorce agreement. With the signing of the divorce agreement, their marriage was no more.
But Zhang Hao had an indescribable feeling, one that words could not convey.
When he returned to Sister-in-law’s place, he found the room tidied up a bit, not as messy as before.
Even the bed sheets and quilt covers had been changed to new ones.
"Let’s have lunch here today," said He Qianhui.
Zhang Hao nodded, passing over the vegetables and fruit he had bought. The divorce agreement lay conspicuously on the coffee table.
Zhang Hao leaned over to look at it and felt that the two characters his cousin signed had some reluctance, but there was no choice.
"Sister-in-law, I’ll put away this agreement for you."
He Qianhui poked half of her body out of the kitchen, looking at Zhang Hao with a reproachful expression.
"Still calling me Sister-in-law."
Zhang Hao looked at the divorce agreement in his hand and slapped his forehead, saying, "Xiaohui, from now on I’ll call you Xiaohui."
He Qianhui gave him a glance and turned back to the kitchen to continue preparing lunch.
He Qianhui wrote on the divorce agreement that she left with nothing and wanted nothing, as they had no children.
She hadn’t worked for years, so she didn’t need any financial support from Liu Gang.
As for the so-called marital assets, He Qianhui felt she owed him for not bearing him a child or two,
thinking they both had wasted their time, which was irreversible.
That money couldn’t compensate for what might have been.
During the meal, He Qianhui felt incredibly happy, as if the ordinary home-cooked stir fry had the taste of a Michelin meal.
"Sister-in-law, do you have to be so happy?"
"Of course I do, shall we have a drink? I bought two bottles the other day, not sure if they’re good, let’s try them now."
Looking at the expensive liquor He Qianhui had taken out, Zhang Hao’s eyes widened, "You got a bonus and bought such expensive liquor."
He Qianhui, holding the bottle of liquor, said, "I don’t know, I just thought the bottle looked pretty so I bought it."
"I forgot how much it cost, but I definitely wouldn’t indulge in something too expensive."
After unscrewing the cap and pouring a glass for each, the strong taste of the liquor hit them. He Qianhui lifted her glass and sniffed it under her nose.
She didn’t really like it, but liquor, after all, is an aphrodisiac.
After sipping lightly on two cups, their meal was pretty much untouched—who knows how they ended up tangled with each other again.
Lying in the bed, Zhang Hao gently swept away the strand of hair obstructing Xiaohui’s eyes.
"From now on, we can finally be together, rightfully and openly."
"I want you to be my true woman," Zhang Hao declared before sweeping off the clothes He Qianhui was wearing in a swift motion, tearing them to shreds.
And this time, He Qianhui could fully immerse herself in the pleasure of the moment.
No longer carrying the moral pressure in secret, Zhang Hao pressed his entire body down.
The moment he did, he felt the softness of He Qianhui’s skin; she was like a peeled, boiled egg, and he was rough sandpaper.
They went at it from afternoon until it got dark, having lost count of how many times, until Zhang Hao could no longer muster anything.
Only then did He Qianhui let him go, and the two lay in bed side by side, sharing their intimate thoughts.
"Just wait, in a couple of years when I have some spare cash, I’ll buy a house and marry you. Then you’ll give me a big, chubby son, okay?"
Hearing this, He Qianhui felt somewhat disappointed.
"Hao, you want to marry me, but I’m a divorced woman. It’s not fair to you at all."
However, to Zhang Hao, such words didn’t matter at all.
"What are you talking about? A gentle and virtuous woman like you is what we men adore."
"And you divorced in pursuit of your own happiness, whether that’s physical or in life, it doesn’t matter."
"You little rascal, you’re teasing me again."
Zhang Hao chuckled twice, checking the time and seeing it was still early. They changed into clean clothes, ready to go out for a walk.
But just as they were stepping out, they saw Liu Gang stumbling out of the elevator, drunk, clutching a bottle of beer in his hand.
Seeing this, He Qianhui didn’t understand why he had come over again; could it be he had regrets?
But the divorce papers were already signed in black and white—he couldn’t take it back even if he wanted to.
Yet Liu Gang produced a bank card from his pocket.
"Xiaohui, you’ve always managed the household affairs over the years. Apart from a little spending money for myself, I gave you everything I earned each month."
"I know you didn’t squander my money. This is what we saved up over the years. I’ve kept a portion for myself and gave you the rounded-up remainder."
"The reason we didn’t have a child all these years is because of my body. You’ve suffered a lot of grievances. Consider this compensation."
As he said this, Liu Gang glanced over at his cousin Zhang Hao standing beside him.
"Hao, in the future, I’ll have to trouble you to look after Xiaohui’s life. If you find a girlfriend later on, you can’t neglect her, you know."
It was incomprehensible why Liu Gang suddenly said all this.
After speaking, Liu Gang turned and left, watching as the elevator went down floor by floor.
Zhang Hao and He Qianhui exchanged a glance before entering the nearby elevator.
After coming out, they saw no sign of cousin Gang, indicating he was long gone.
As to how much money was in the bank card, neither had checked. They just got some takeout food and some oysters, reputedly good for virility.
Carrying the food on their way home, Zhang Hao whispered into He Qianhui’s ear, "I want to take a day off tomorrow; I’m too tired, can’t focus on work."
