Chapter 135: Chapter 133 Waste

He Qianhui hung up the phone and tossed her cellphone aside; she wanted to immerse herself fully in the joy that was to come.

However, Zhang Hao had different thoughts, his gaze fixated on the now dark screen of the phone.

Bent over with her hands propping herself up on the bed, He Qianhui noticed that Zhang Hao hadn’t moved, so she reluctantly looked back at him.

She saw his eyes staring intently, as if he had lost his soul.

Following his gaze, He Qianhui realized what was going on. She turned her body around and sat down on the soft bed with a thump.

"Hao, how come you’ve become so timid, scared stiff by a single phone call?"

Having experienced what had happened after work today, He Qianhui made a decision in a very short time.

The barefoot are not afraid of those with shoes.

If Liu Gang dared to spill her secrets, then she would reveal his shortcomings as well.

After all these years as his partner, she still understood the man’s weaknesses; if push came to shove, no one would come out unscathed.

"What are you talking about? I was just wondering if cousin Gang calling at this time means he already knows you’re living here,"

He Qianhui felt a chill run down her spine. If her workplace was exposed, she could simply find another job.

But if Liu Gang found out where she lived, then she would never have peace again.

"What should we do? Should we leave here? But I’ve only been living here for less than a month."

The mere thought of possibly moving again made He Qianhui feel despondent.

"Sister-in-law, I think we have to get my parents involved in this matter."

Parents and cousin are relatives; as elders, when elders speak, the younger one dares not disobey.

By then, they could explain things thoroughly to him, and maybe he wouldn’t be so stubborn.

He Qianhui no longer had the heart to think about these things; she placed all her hopes on Zhang Hao.

She was delirious when they got married, and now that they were separating, she realized it wasn’t going to be easy.

"Hao, we can’t drag this matter out for too long."

Zhang Hao nodded again and again, placing his hand on his sister-in-law’s shoulder, saying, "Don’t worry, I will definitely take care of this for you."

At the same time, Liu Gang was sitting by the flowerbeds at the foot of his apartment building, surrounded by several empty bottles at his feet.

"Bitch, daring to hang up on me. Forgot who gave you the good life in the first place, and now trying to ditch me, no way that’s happening,"

He guzzled another bottle of alcohol in one go, and when he looked up, he saw a woman pushing a stroller with her husband by her side.

A sweet, soft child lay in the pram, and the more Liu Gang looked at it, the more his eyes hurt.

With a smack, he threw the bottle in his hand onto the ground, startling the people nearby to look over.

Zhang Hao drove back home, and as he entered the door, he saw his parents in the living room chatting with cousin Liu Gang.

Zhang Hao had not expected Liu Gang to be in his house, but still managed to squeeze out a faint smile.

Sensing Zhang Hao’s return, an unpleasant feeling arose in Liu Gang’s heart.

"Hao, stop grinning like a fool at me. I just have one question for you: where is Xiaohui right now?"

"I don’t know, sister-in-law hasn’t contacted me during this time."

Liu Gang’s expression was serious as he suddenly extended his hand and said, "Give me your phone; I want to see your call history."

Zhang Hao naturally did not want to agree to this request, but considering cousin Gang’s stance, if he didn’t hand over the phone today, the situation could turn ugly.

"Fine, I’ll let you see it, will that do?"

He took out his phone and handed it to cousin Gang, who opened the contacts list and flipped through for a long time without spotting any suspicious numbers.

"Impossible, you must have deleted the records."

Zhang Hao was already dissatisfied with his cousin’s behavior, and now that he was being blamed instead, his anger intensified.

"Cousin, do you even hear what you’re saying?"

Zhang Hao snatched the phone away, to avoid it getting damaged in case they started quarreling.

"Gang, you’ve been with Xiaohui for so many years. She’s not the type to throw tantrums. The fact that she’s willing to separate from you proves that you’ve truly hurt her deeply."

"Exactly, Xiaohui has never done anything to betray you. What’s the point of you two tormenting each other? It’s like stabbing your own heart with a knife."

Seeing that his parents were speaking up for his sister-in-law, Zhang Hao swallowed the words he was about to say.

"Gang, this is a private matter between you and Xiaohui. There’s very little we can do to help, so don’t come here every time you lose your temper, and stop treating my son as an imaginary enemy."

Zhang Hao didn’t expect his mother to speak up for him, and he was deeply touched.

The atmosphere in the living room became even weirder, and Liu Gang, feeling ashamed, drank a few sips of tea and then got up to leave.

Once he was sure his cousin had really gone, Zhang Hao heaved a sigh of relief. Realizing it was getting late, his parents also prepared to go back to their room to rest.

But Zhang Hao called out to his parents.

"Is there anything else?"

"It’s about sister-in-law."

The old couple exchanged glances, knowing they couldn’t avoid this issue.

The next day was the weekend, and Zhang Hao didn’t have to go to work. He arrived early in the morning at his sister-in-law’s residence.

He Qianhui, also off from work for the day, planned to do a thorough house cleaning. Since moving here, she had never thought of moving again.

The front door was left wide open for convenience.

He Qianhui, wearing a peach-colored nightgown, was bustling about in the room, her hurried figure shuttling between the bathroom and living room.

The trash gathered from the cleanup was piled up at the door, ready to be thrown out later.

Zhang Hao had bought quite a few things on his way over, including vegetables, meat, fruit, and even a bouquet of fresh flowers.

Seeing that his sister-in-law’s front door was open, Zhang Hao walked in without announcing himself.

He Qianhui came out of the bathroom just as Zhang Hao entered, and the sudden appearance of someone in her home startled her.

"Good heavens, when did you get here?"

"Just now. Today is the weekend, and there’s something I need to talk to you about."

He Qianhui sighed. She had something she wanted to talk to Zhang Hao about as well, right after he left last night, Liu Gang had called again.

What Zhang Hao wanted to discuss also concerned his cousin.

After cleaning up the house, the two sat on the sofa, with He Qianhui leaning into Zhang Hao’s embrace.

The room was so quiet that they could hear each other’s heartbeats.

"I argued with him on the phone again. I really don’t want to go back to the old life."

Zhang Hao wrapped an arm around He Qianhui’s body, his palm’s warmth penetrating the thin fabric.

"I’ve already talked to Mom and Dad about this, they support you, but my cousin still doesn’t want to divorce."

He Qianhui’s hands encircled Zhang Hao’s waist, tightening their embrace.

"I must divorce, Hao. You support me, right?" He Qianhui lifted her head and looked into Zhang Hao’s eyes.

As long as Zhang Hao supported her decision to divorce, she feared nothing, for Liu Gang was not a real man.

Ever since her first time with Zhang Hao, He Qianhui had discovered the joy of being a woman.

Sometimes, she couldn’t understand how she had spent so much time with such a worthless man.
