Chapter 620: Couples’ Favorite Seats

After spending some time at the boutique, it was about time for the movie.

Christian told them to send the clothes that he purchased back to his place while he left the shop with Wendy.

Before Wendy left, she glanced once more at the fitting room.

She hoped that someone would discover the phone number she left in the fitting room soon.

Wendy didn’t waste the opportunity while trying on dresses earlier.

She kept thinking if there was any way she could save herself or if she could send a message out.

Hence, she had been looking for things that she could use to write something with the whole time.

Fortunately, the boutique had feedback forms and pens in the fitting room.

Wendy’s eyes beamed with hope when she saw it.

She quickly picked up a piece of paper and a pen, and wrote down Michael’s number. She added: [Please call this number for me. Tell him that Stewart’s here.] Wendy didn’t dare to be long because she was worried that Christian might become suspicious.

Hence, she quickly changed and went out of the fitting room after writing down a short note.

Wendy appeared calm. Christian shouldn’t be able to find anything suspicious.

After they walked out of the boutique, Wendy saw that other shops were selling handbags, jewelry, shoes, and so on.

However, she didn’t check out those shops but looked back at that boutique again.

Handbags and shoes meant that she didn’t need to go to a fitting room to try them.

It also meant that Wendy would be within Christian’s sight the whole time.

When they were in the fashion boutique, Christian wouldn’t follow Wendy in the fitting room.

She wasn’t sure if the feedback forms area was merely for decoration purposes. If it was, no one would see whatever she wrote earlier.

Hence, Wendy wondered if she could go into another two fitting rooms. Would the possibility of her note being seen increase?

Wendy then took the initiative to tell Christian, "Can I go and see the clothes in that shop?"

Wendy pointed at a blue dress through the display window. "I think this dress looks quite nice."

Christian took a look at the dress and then checked his phone. He hesitated before answering, "The movie is starting soon. Let’s come back here when the movie’s finished."

"By the time we are done with the movie, these shops should be closed by then," Wendy replied.

Christian lowered his head slightly. He seemed to be thinking about something.

Wendy was worried that Christian might become suspicious, so she quickly added, "Forget it then. Let’s go and watch the movie. We have bought so many clothes anyway. I wouldn’t wear them all at once."

Then, Wendy started to walk away.

Somehow, Christian felt a tinge of happiness, looking at Wendy’s back.

It felt as though he was keeping his girlfriend company while she shopped. He refused to his girlfriend try on a dress. Hence, she got upset and threw a tantrum at him.

Christian knew that it was merely his imagination.

His expression grew much gentler and a smile formed on his lips.

He waved, beckoning the people behind him. "Buy all the clothes in this shop. Let Ms. Stewart take her time and try them on at home."

Wendy wasn’t far ahead. She couldn’t help but stop when she heard what Christian had said.

’Buy all the clothes? Is he crazy?’ But Wendy didn’t say a word.

He wasn’t spending her money anyway. He could spend his money however he liked.

It would be even better if he would go bankrupt from buying her things.

...

Christian walked fast and caught up to Wendy soon. He spoke gently, "If you’d like to go shopping, I can come shopping with you tomorrow night. Alright?"

Wendy replied with a hum.

Christian continued, "The movie tonight is about to start. We won’t make it in time if we continued shopping."

Christian could actually call the cinemas or pay for a block screening, but he didn’t want to do that because he really wanted to experience dating like ordinary couples... going to the cinema on time, sitting next to each other, and having a bucket of popcorn and a bottle of soda... If he were to do reserve the entire cinema, it wouldn’t feel as nice to watch the movie.

"I know. Aren’t we going to the cinema now?" Wendy said.

Christian’s expression grew even gentler then.

He felt as though his girlfriend got upset and annoyed, yet she fought hard to hold back from throwing a tantrum.

The cinema was nearby. They arrived after a few minutes walk.

Christian collected the movie tickets and bought popcorn and juice.

Wendy was pregnant and couldn’t drink soda.

He passed Wendy a set while he held another one himself.

Then, they went to queue at the ticketing counter to enter the cinema.

Christian bought corner seats in the last row.

He asked his assistant before he bought the tickets.

His assistant told him that the last row was where couples were normally seated.

Although Christian didn’t know why, he bought the seats anyway.

When Wendy followed Christian to the seats, she couldn’t help but frown.

"Where would you like to seat? "Christian asked Wendy.

Only two couple seats were in that row.

Wendy chose the one outside.

When she had a chance later or if she were to head out, it would be much more convenient.

"I’ll sit here." Wendy even explained herself just in case Christian became suspicious, "It’s dark and it’s hard to see the screen."

Christian frowned when he heard what Wendy said.

That was not what his assistant told him.

The assistant told him that these seats were suitable for couples.

"Why did you buy corner seats? These are the only seats left?" Wendy asked.

"Hmm..." Christian hesitated before he replied, "My assistant bought the tickets. I’m not sure. I’ll deal with him later after the movie."

"Never mind." Wendy gestured for Christian to take the inner seat.

The movie started shortly after.

It was a sci-fi movie.

Wendy wasn’t interested in anything sci-fi.

Christian gave Wendy a few movies to choose from previously, and she randomly picked one.

Wendy found that the effects were really good, but the plot was mediocre.

It might also be because Wendy wasn’t focused on the movie, so she had no idea what was it about.

Wendy knew that Christian wasn’t paying attention either.

He would occasionally turn to look at her.

But Wendy pretended that she didn’t notice and fixed her eyes on the screen.

Halfway through the movie, Wendy was thinking of an excuse to leave the cinema.

...

Wendy knew very well that Christian would definitely follow after her if she were to leave.

Even if Christian did not leave with her, the bodyguards outside would be monitoring her the whole time.

However, she could not just finish watching the movie and do nothing.

Once the movie was over, Wendy would find it hard to get a chance.

After thinking about it, Wendy picked up the juice from the side and took a sip.

After a few minutes, Wendy stretched out her hand to cover her belly and whispered to Christian, "Umm...I need to go to the bathroom..."

Hearing Wendy’s voice, Christian turned his head to look at her slightly embarrassed expression and said, "Sure, I will go with you."

"No, I can go by myself. I will be back soon." After saying that, Wendy got up and walked out.

Looking at Wendy’s back, Christian knew that the only reason she came out with him today, was because she was looking for an opportunity to escape.

Christian’s expression became complicated the moment Wendy got up.

He took out his cell phone, dialed a number, and said in a cold voice, "She has gone to the bathroom."

After a single sentence, Christian hung up the phone.

As soon as Wendy went out, she saw several bodyguards standing at the door as if they were waiting for her.

"The bathroom is here, Ms. Stewart, please..." The leading bodyguard made a please gesture.

"I see, thank you." Wendy nodded and strode to the bathroom.

However, as soon as she walked forward, the bodyguard followed behind her.

Finally, the bodyguard stopped at the initial entrance of the women’s bathroom.

Walking into the bathroom, Wendy took a deep breath.

In the bathroom, there was no one else except her.

It was impossible to find someone to ask for help or borrow a cellphone.

Wendy knew that Christian had already taken precautions against her.

These bodyguards who had been following her were the best proof.

Christian was telling her not to play tricks with him, so she could not run away.

Wendy could not reconcile herself to the status quo. Was there really no chance to escape?

She looked around, saw a window in the bathroom, and immediately walked over to take a glance.

This movie theater was on the fifth floor. Looking down from the window, it was too high above the ground.

If Wendy jumped from here, it would be a double kill that sentenced herself and the child to death.

She had to eliminate this idea.

After looking around, Wendy could not find anywhere else to escape from. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Sighing heavily, Wendy used the toilet and went out.

As expected, she saw that the bodyguards were still waiting for her outside.

On the way back to the movie theater, Wendy felt more than depressed.

Was there anything else she could do?

Since Christian monitored her so tightly, how could she leave without external help?

Unfortunately, Wendy did not think of any other way, so she returned to her original seat and sat down.

Seeing Wendy come back, Christian said, "Would you like me to have someone rewind the movie back to the time at where you left?"

"No need." Wendy had no intention of watching the movie.

"Okay." Christian did not force her either.

The movie passed by minute by minute and slowly came to an end.

Sitting on the chair, Wendy became more and more unwilling to compromise.

She thought about the idea of running away directly.

Although there was a low chance, did she have to go back with Christian like this?

Just as Wendy was thinking about it, several staff members entered the movie theatre.

Each of them had something in their hands.

The movie was not over yet, but the staff had already come in to clean up the trash, making the audience a little dissatisfied.
