Chapter 462: You’re Trying My Patience

The office was full of people.

But it was surprisingly quiet.

Nobody spoke again.

Michael looked at Wendy without moving and, fearing she might be soft-hearted, he took the lead himself and headed for the lounge.

Unfortunately, he didn’t know where the safe was and had to walk out again.

Seeing this, Wendy took a deep breath and finally turned around and headed for the lounge.

"Corrine, if you step through the door to the lounge today, and we will no longer have a mentor and apprentice relationship," Timothy, watching Wendy turn her back on her way to the lounge, said in a determined voice.

Things had come to the point where they actually couldn’t be mentor-and-disciple any longer.

That mentorship and discipleship no longer existed.

They were destined to be on opposing sides.

Michael looked at Wendy and knew that she was upset.

But at this point, he didn’t say a word. Hhe was going to let Wendy make that choice herself.

Closing her eyes, Wendy’s tears slipped from the corner of her eyes.

Even if she didn’t want to, she had no other choice.

Without saying anything else, Wendy’s footsteps continued stepping forward.

Wendy went into the lounge.

She knew where the safe was hidden.

She was familiar with where the switch was and when she pressed it, a space immediately opened up on the wall.

Only, in that space, there was nothing...

Wendy could not believe her eyes. She blinked, looked again, and still nothing was there.

"This..." said Wendy, turning her head to look aside at Michael. "The safe used to be in here."

"It seems that he has changed the position of the safe," Michael spoke with a sober face.

"We still missed it."

Wendy came to HG Enterprise the moment she was discharged from the hospital and still didn’t make it.

When HG Enterprise was in trouble, the first thing Wendy wanted to do was to come and get the safe.

But she had little support at that time and came to HG Enterprise by herself.

Timothy would not have given her the safe at that time.

This time, it was also because Michael brought so many bodyguards.

It was then that Wendy had the idea to snatch it by force.

Unfortunately, it was still too late.

With a sigh, Wendy and Michael turned around with the intention of leaving.

At the door stood Todd and Rosa.

Rosa was silently relieved to see that Wendy didn’t get anything.

As Timothy’s wife, she could have wanted nothing more than for her husband to be well.

She couldn’t care less about the right and wrong of the matter.

Todd had a straight face.

Wendy walked back to Timothy, stood and looked down at him, and asked in a calm tone, "Timothy, where’s the safe? Where did you transfer to?"

"I told you when you stepped into the lounge that we are no longer mentor and apprentice," Timothy’s tone, too, was just as calm.

It seemed that after the argument, they both had calmed down a lot.

Or perhaps, they were both no longer deluded.

Wendy knew that Timothy would not compromise, and Timothy knew that Wendy was no longer his apprentice.

"Good..." Wendy nodded and addressed him with his title, "Mr. CEO, where did you put the safe?"

Regardless of Wendy’s feelings for Timothy, now was the time to negotiate, so she couldn’t show her soft-hearted side.

She took a deep breath. Wendy said in a threatening tone, "You should know where you stand now. Hand over the safe and I can consider letting you go. Otherwise, don’t blame me!"

"Be my guest," Timothy’s tone was unruffled as if it was not him who was being threatened.

...

"Don’t you force me!" Wendy’s voice snapped, "I told you, my target has always been Christian, and I just want to bring him down. In the safe, there is evidence to take him down. As long as you give me the evidence, I won’t give you a hard time."

As Wendy’s words trailed off, Michael gave a quick wink, and the bodyguards immediately surrounded Timothy.

"Corrine..." Rosa was so scared that her heartbeat sped up when she saw what was happening.

She stepped forward and took Wendy’s hand, begging bitterly, "Corrine, please let us live. Don’t push Timothy anymore, please."

As soon as the name "Rosa" was shouted out, Wendy paused for a moment.

Since Timothy was no longer her teacher, Rosa was no longer relevant either.

Wendy addressed her differently, "Mrs. Rosa, if you want Mr. Lin to be safe and sound, you should go and persuade him."

"You know his temper. He won’t take it out. Even if you beat him to death today, he won’t take it out." Rosa had been married to Timothy for so many years, so she knew very well how stubborn Timothy was.

He valued his pride and dignity.

It could even be said that he would rather die than give in.

"You know my temper very well too. I will get whatever I want." Wendy took a deep breath and said coldly, "I’ll give you three minutes to think about it. Within three minutes, if you do not hand over the safe, I will have to hand it over to Michael to handle."

Michael’s handling, naturally, was to use force.

They were still in HG Enterprise. Wendy would not kill anyone here.

However, a few wounds and bruises would probably happen.

Time passed.

Even if it was only three minutes, it seemed like forever.

Finally, the time was up. Wendy looked at Timothy, and the bodyguards around him took another step forward, surrounding him closely.

As soon as Wendy gave the order, Timothy was greeted with violent beatings.

"Corrine, I beg you..." Rosa dropped to her knees in front of Wendy, hugging her thighs. She cried, "He has not eaten for days. His body can no longer able hold up.

He won’t make it if the beating continues."

"Get up, Rosa..." What Rosa did had surprised Wendy a little.

She reached out to help Rosa but found that she could not help her to her feet.

Rosa shook her head. "I won’t get up until you say yes. I can’t stand by and watch Timothy die in front of me. Maybe I can take the beating for him. You can hit me anyway you want, as long as you leave Timothy alone..."

Timothy did not expect that from his wife, who was so deeply attached to him.

He always knew that Rosa loved him, otherwise she would not have defied all odds to marry him back then.

But it was life and death, and she still defended him. At this point, Timothy was really touched.

Unfortunately, there was no use feeling touched now.

"Do not kneel to her! Wendy can do whatever she wants. I have failed. I am not worth begging for mercy on behalf of!" Timothy yelled at Rosa in a stern voice.

But Rosa, for one, had no intention of getting up.

"Get Rosa on her feet for me!" Wendy commanded the bodyguards.

At that moment, there were footsteps outside the door.

Jill came running through the door.

As soon as she entered, she saw Rosa kneeling in front of Wendy and saw Timothy being controlled by a group of bodyguards.

...

Jill’s eyes were full of blood because she hadn’t slept much recently, and at this time, her tears were rolling down.

"Mom... Dad..." Jill couldn’t hold back the tears that were sliding down in big globs.

She didn’t know anything before because of the closed training.

But after returning Wendy’s call, she went online and learned all about HG Enterprise.

She also knew that this matter was related to Wendy.

But how could she have imagined seeing this scene the moment she rushed back?

"Wendy..." Jill’s scarlet eyes looked at Wendy with disbelief. "What are you... doing?"

Jill asked cautiously.

Wendy didn’t want Jill to witness this.

She really loved Jill as a sister.

Unfortunately, she was not too early and not too late. Jill chose right this time to come back.

After taking a deep breath, Wendy could only say ruthlessly, "It has nothing to do with you, so you’d better leave it alone."

"Nothing to do with me?" Jill shook her head. "How can it have nothing to do with me, Wendy. You’re like my sister, and they’re my parents."

Jill glanced at Rosa, took a few steps toward her side, and then turned to go to Timothy’s side.

Back and forth, she didn’t even know who she should help first.

The bodyguards had already helped Rosa up, Jill simply went over to Timothy’s side and reached out to push the bodyguards away.

But she was a girl, so she did not have the strength to push away the trained bodyguards.

"Wendy!" Jill turned her head and looked at Wendy with a tear-stained face.

"Why on earth? Why did you guys turn out like this?"

Jill was about to collapse.

Two days ago, she was a girl who was pursuing her dream with all her heart, and she expected to see the next day.

Today, she was facing such a situation.

The bodyguard let Jill kick and punch, but did not take a step back.

Wendy was also very helpless.

But things had come to this, so there was no way back.

If you don’t force Timothy to take out the safe now, the future will be even harder.

Looking at Jill who was fighting and messing around, Wendy closed her eyes and said to the bodyguard, "Don’t let Miss Lin mess around."

"Mess around?" Jill gasped and laughed, "You think that I’m messing around?"

"Jill!" Wendy scolded in a stern voice. "Don’t you challenge my bottom line!"

Jill, who had never seen such a Wendy before, subconsciously did not dare to speak when Wendy yelled at her.

She had always respected and loved Wendy, admired and liked her from the bottom of her heart.

Now, apparently, everything was different.

She looked at Jill and lowered her tone, "You don’t know what’s going on between your father and me, so you shouldn’t interfere easily. There is much more than what you know, understand?"

"I don’t understand..." Jill cried and shook her head. "I just know that we used to be like a family. I treated you like my own sister, and my parents also raised and loved you as their daughter. But today, I see you leading people against my dad and forcing my mom to kneel to you. Wendy, I still think of you as a sister, so no matter what happens, it’s not so bad as to meet each other with blades, right? I was just one step away from achieving my dream, but I gave up the finals, gave up my dream, and came back overnight, wishing to see something other than this..."

Wendy didn’t want to explain too much to Jill.

She couldn’t listen in her current state.

Moreover, they were not destined to be sisters anymore, and it was useless to say more.

...

"Stop weeping, all of you. Get a hold of yourself!" Timothy, who was sitting, now stood up.

The bodyguards surrounded him and he couldn’t move around.

But his gaze swept through the bodyguards and toward Rosa and Jill. He said harshly, "I, Timothy, have been strong all my life and will not allow my wife and daughter to stoop to the level of begging. All of you wipe your tears away and stand up straight!"

"Dad..." Jill was in tears, her voice tinged with sobs. "What’s wrong with you guys?

Why did so much change within just two months?"

"It’s none of your business!" Timothy reached for the door and reprimanded, "Don’t you want to pursue your dream?

Leave immediately. I don’t care what you want to do in the future. Don’t you love Lake City? Don’t you want to stay there and pursue your career? Leave now and don’t come back."

Jill shook her head. "No way, you’re all in Rheinsville City. How could I not come back."

Although Jill used to be rebellious, she just refused to accept Timothy’s discipline.

She didn’t want to take up his profession.

When something really went wrong, she knew very well that she should protect her father.

"Jill, listen to your father, leave now, and don’t come back." Rosa walked over to Jill and reached out to nudge her.

What Timothy and Rosa meant was clear to Wendy.

They were afraid that Wendy would flip out and threaten them with Jill later.

Wendy took a deep breath and felt a little sad.

However, reason overcame emotion.

She knew very well that she could not be soft-hearted at this time.

And Jill, pushed back a few steps by Rosa, quickly steadied herself.

"There’s no way I’m leaving at this time." Jill swallowed and turned her head to look at Wendy. "I don’t know why your relationship with my parents has come to this point, but I beg you, let them off the hook. If you let them go today, my life will be yours forever."

"Jill!" Timothy’s tone grew heavier.

He was angry from what he heard that he almost fainted out of anger.

He steadied himself by holding on to the table.

"I told you to leave, don’t you understand?" What Timothy actually meant was that if she didn’t leave now, she might not be able to leave later.

"Wendy..." Jill cried, walking over to Wendy, reaching out and grabbing her sleeve.

She pouted like she used to. "Wendy, don’t you care about me? This time, will you do it for me just one more time?"

"Jill..." Wendy originally did not want Jill to know too much, but now, she could only tell her the truth, "Your father was involved in illegal businesses, and his hands are stained with a lot of blood.

Now it is not a question of whether I let him off or not. HG Enterprise is down, so he will be investigated sooner or later. I advised him to turn himself in, but he wouldn’t.

I asked him to hand over the safe, and he wouldn’t do it. If you really want what’s best for him, you should persuade him to turn himself in."

"Crime? Blood?" Jill was no stranger to every word, but her whole head felt buzzed when she heard it.

Jill, her eyes full of shock, turned her head to look at Timothy and asked, "Dad, is what she said true?"

Questioned by his own daughter, Timothy didn’t know how to answer.

The atmosphere was silent and stagnant.

The question had been answered by Timothy’s silence.
