Chapter 423: This Feeling Was Not Pleasant At All

Hearing what Michael said, Yonina chuckled.

"What? Are you not satisfied? A doctor is not suitable?" Michael frowned and asked.

"I’m laughing at you, Mr. Lucas. You are so quick to introduce me to someone."

Yonina then added, "I was just suggesting. Even if I want to fall in love, now isn’t a good time. It’s a critical time for us now to go against Christian. Once we settle this, you can introduce me to him."

"By then, I can’t promise he will still be single. Since he’s so successful." Michael purposefully said.

"Well, that will just show that we are not meant to be." Yonina sighed.

At this point, she really was not in the mood to fall in love.

Michael also didn’t force her on this.

Since relationships are all dependent on fate as well.

"In the past few days, did you manage to contact Wendy? How is she?" Yonina started to ask.

"Nope." Michael shook his head.

Speaking of Wendy, Michael’s expression turned sullen.

He knew that Wendy was hospitalised.

However, he couldn’t visit her and couldn’t even give her a call.

In the past few days, Wendy had emailed him to let him know that he shouldn’t call her unless there was something really urgent.

Wendy had guessed that when she returned to HG, Timothy would dig out all kinds of excuses and evidence to show that she has betrayed HG.

Hence, in order to reduce all possible traces of evidence, Michael should not contact Wendy at all unless there was something really urgent.

But the good news was that Wendy was recovering quickly and she could be discharged soon.

"Wendy is pretty tired these days. She had to be hospitalised for two days but she is fine." Michael simply informed Yonina.

"She must be too exhausted from all the events the past few days." Yonina then added, "Well, no news from her is actually good news. If something bad really happened, we would be receiving the news all over."

Michael nodded his head and agreed with Yonina.

However, being unable to contact Wendy, Michael couldn’t help but worry still.

"’I went over to check on Christian yesterday. He isn’t doing great these days. Due to the HG incident, his bid proposal was not selected and he looks super haggard now." Yonina then continued, "Now, he is rushing around trying to delay the bidding process. I just wanted to check with you, when can we take over his bidding case?"

"Now is not the right time." Talking about work, Michael turned serious and said, "HG’s situation will not deteriorate any further. Wendy’s plan is not fulfilled yet. We still have to wait several days. For Christian’s side, even if he managed to get his proposal selected, without sufficient capital, he won’t be able to start the project as well. Hence, the first amount of money he is investing into this project can be considered a gift to us in the future when we eventually take over. So, let’s just wait a couple more days till we hear from Wendy."

"Okay!" Yonina has complete trust in both Michael and Wendy and she nodded readily.

After a moment of silence, Yonina asked, Well, if Christian don’t get selected?"

"I understand him too well, he will never give up such a good opportunity. Even if he were to give up HG, he would still do his best for this project." Michael said firmly.

"Why?" Yonina was confused and didn’t understand.

"That is because, all along, his target has always been me..." Michael sighed and said, "To Christian, he has always wanted to defeat me. This project is his biggest opportunity to do so, hence he won’t give up."

...

Wendy was in a coma this time due to exhaustion and inadequate rest for several days.

As a result, after spending two days in the hospital, she was discharged as no more problems occurred.

On the day of discharge, Todd and Rosa came to pick Wendy up.

Timothy was also there.

Seeing Timothy, Wendy was not surprised at all.

After all, he had not given Wendy an explanation for the events of the past two days.

Still, HG Enterprise needed Wendy.

Therefore, Timothy once again offered a sincere apology.

Timothy smiled and helped Wendy go through the discharge formalities.

Wendy deliberately pulled a long face and gave Timothy a deep freeze.

In the parking lot, Wendy turned to look at Timothy in front of her and said coldly, "Mr. Woods, thank you for helping me with the discharge formalities. But I am sorry, the car is too small to fit that many people. Thus, Mr. and Mrs. Woods, it is better for you to drive home on your own."

Todd’s car had enough seats indeed.

Today, since the two children had gone to school, they were not here.

Zess, Todd, and Wendy only counted three. Todd got a five-seater car.

Apparently, Wendy’s words were to deny Timothy’s entry to the car.

They certainly knew.

Rosa kept smiling, trying to ease the atmosphere.

Hearing Wendy’s words, she stretched out her hand and pinched Timothy’s waist.

Timothy knew what Rosa meant. Initially, he was here to make an apology today.

"It doesn’t matter if it cannot fit all of us. I have booked the restaurant. It happens to be lunchtime if we get there now. Just take it as my celebration of your discharge," Timothy said with a smile, "for my sake, let’s have a meal together."

"Right, right, right," Rosa immediately agreed, "it is Corrine’s favorite restaurant. Mr.

Woods has booked it two days in advance, waiting for you to dine out together after your discharge."

"I just left the hospital and cannot have greasy food. I am fine with going home and asking Zess to cook for me." Wendy still refused.

"It is not greasy. The restaurant also serves many bland diets there," Timothy said, "I know you cannot eat anything greasy after discharge, so I found this restaurant."

Wendy was silent for a while, not knowing what to say. She ended up abruptly stating that there was no need.

Then she turned around to get into the car.

Rosa gave Todd a look begging for help.

Todd saw it and stretched out his hand to hold Wendy. He said, "How about we dine out together? I like that restaurant too. Now it is almost time for lunch. If we wait until Zess cooks back home, we will be starving. It is not far from here to the restaurant, right?"

Timothy immediately followed Todd’s words. "No, it is not far. It takes only ten minutes by car. I have asked the restaurant to prepare meals, and we can eat as soon as we arrive. Let’s go."

Timothy personally stepped forward and opened the car door for Wendy.

Wendy could differentiate between anger and acting.

When Todd gave her an out, she had to accept it.

After all, she still needed to return to HG Enterprise.

If possible, she would like to take this opportunity to talk to Timothy about the board of directors.

Wendy still did not know those secrets among the board of directors.

Perhaps after entering the board of directors, she could find evidence of Christian’s crimes.

Hence, Wendy looked angry and impatient on the surface, but she still got into the car under Todd’s persuasion.

Timothy and Rosa did not follow the two into the car.

They drove by themselves. Now that Wendy agreed to go for lunch together, they did not need to squeeze in the same car.

However, this meal is not that simple.

They all have different thoughts and purposes.

...

Soon the two cars arrived at the restaurant in tandem.

After getting out of the car, Timothy smiled and came to open the door for Wendy.

Timothy ordered the meals in advance, and the waiters started serving dishes as soon as they sat down.

Wendy had just been discharged from the hospital and could not have greasy or spicy food.

A large table of dishes seemed to be out of consideration for Wendy’s status, as they were all bland diets.

"Corrine, Mr. Woods ordered all these specially for you. Enjoy." Rosa smiled and helped Wendy to the food, breaking the silence with a few words.

Wendy nodded and said thanks.

"It is all arranged by Mr. Woods, so you don’t have to thank me." Rosa was telling Wendy deliberately that she should thank Timothy.

In other words, she was supposed to accept Timothy’s favor.

Initially, Timothy intended to apologize through the lunch today.

Wendy naturally understood what Rosa meant, but she did not continue this topic and said, "You don’t need to take care of me too much. I cannot eat much alone. If the food does not suit your tastes, why not add a few dishes that you like?"

"It is okay. We all like the food." Timothy took the initiative to continue.

"It turns out that Mr. Woods also likes bland diets," Wendy said with a deliberate smile, "however, as far as I remember, it seems like there isn’t a single dish suiting Todd’s taste."

"Umm..." Timothy was a little embarrassed; he immediately stood up and said, "I will ask the waiter to add more dishes."

"Don’t bother. I also like the food." Todd looked at Timothy’s back and said quickly.

Seeing this, Wendy stretched out her hand and tugged at Todd’s sleeve with a terrible look.

The meaning was obvious. Wendy did not want Todd to stop Timothy.

In other words, Wendy deliberately prevailed over Timothy.

Seeing a change coming over Timothy’s face, Rosa stood up immediately and agreed, "I know Todd’s favorite food. Let me go out with you to order more."

With that said, Rosa held Timothy’s arm and went out together.

After exiting from the private room, Rosa solemnly said to Timothy, "Today, no matter what, you have to calm Corrine down. It is natural for Corrine to get a little angry because you wronged her. You have to bear it for the sake of either your mentorship or HG Enterprise. You failed to solve the problems of HG Enterprise alone these days. Even company employees have not been comforted."

"I know," Timothy replied.

But within himself at this time, Timothy was quite impatient.

After all, he was the chairman of HG Enterprise. Although HG Enterprise actually belonged to Christian, Timothy was always the most insistent one that never took ’no’ for an answer. Generally, Christian did not care about HG Enterprise’s affairs but only participated in the major decisions.

But now, the mentee Timothy had personally cultivated could grab him by the throat.

This feeling was not pleasant at all.

They added a couple of dishes again. After the two returned to the private room, Rosa first said, "We have already added some dishes but need to wait for a while.

Let’s continue eating first in case of the food cooling down."

Rosa once again helped Wendy to the food and did the same to Todd too.

Meanwhile, Rosa gave Todd a look, which meant asking him for a favor to persuade Wendy.

Todd pretended not to see it and ate the food with his head down.

They fell into awkward silence again.

Throughout the dinner table, only Rosa said a few words from time to time to ease the atmosphere.

Unfortunately, it was far from enough.

Halfway through the meal, Rosa was still a little anxious. She stretched out her hand under the table and pulled Timothy’s sleeve.

...

Rosa stood up, poured the juice for Wendy personally, and said, "Since you just left the hospital today, it is better not to drink."

Afterward, Rosa poured another glass of wine for Timothy, Todd, Zess, and herself.

She raised her glass and said with a smile, "Let’s have a drink together."

Everyone stood up cooperatively.

Wendy had a conflict with Timothy but not with Rosa. Therefore, Wendy still had to show respect for her.

At this time, Timothy stood up, raised his wine glass, and gently clinked the others’, which made a crisp ring. "With this meal, I sincerely apologize to you. What happened last time was indeed my fault. I did not figure out the situation but doubted you in the first place. Today, I promise you that it will not happen for the second time."

Wendy did not look at Timothy. She deliberately turned her gaze away and moved the wine glass aside. "I will substitute fruit juice for wine and drink a toast to Mrs.

Woods. Thank you for believing me from start to finish."

Undoubtedly, Wendy’s words were towards Timothy on purpose.

"Not only do I believe in you, we all believe in you." Rosa smiled. "You can ask Todd if you don’t believe me."

Rosa threw the words to Todd, expecting him to say something to help.

At this time, Todd could not play the fool.

He smiled and said, "Yes, we all believe in you. HG Enterprise has been prospering all these years because of you. How could you betray the company? Even if you betrayed HG Enterprise, to say the least, you were unlikely to work in conjunction with Michael. I know the relationship between you and Michael better than anyone else. If you could cooperate with Michael peacefully, then there would be nothing to do with me."

"Corrine, I sincerely apologize to you," Timothy said, raising his glass again.

However, Wendy put her wine glass on the table and pulled a long face.

"Corrine..." Todd frowned slightly and stretched out his hand to pull Wendy. "No matter what happened, Mr. Woods taught us all alone, and we must be grateful for his kindness. Last time, didn’t Mr. Woods wrong me as well? As you can see, I also forgive him for this. Now that HG Enterprise is such a mess, Mr. Woods must definitely be quite upset. He did not mean to doubt you. You should also be considerate of the difficulties he faced."

"What do you mean? Are you criticizing that I am an ingrate? Are you saying that I turn against Mr. Woods?" Wendy stood up abruptly, exclaiming in an indignant tone.

"I did not mean that. Why would I think that of you?" Todd quickly explained, "I only think that if there is any misunderstanding, we should all sit down and explain it clearly. A proper apology should work, right?"

Rosa and Timothy immediately echoed, "Yes, yes."

Wendy just chuckled and said, "Instead of apologizing to me, Mr. Woods, you’d better just say that there are some corporate affairs for me to deal with."

Rosa and Timothy glanced at each other. Timothy smiled with his face but was already annoyed within himself.

"Yes, now HG Enterprise cannot live without you at all. My suspicion of you is reckless indeed. According to the current situation of HG Enterprise, if you really want to go against the company, you can merely leave. There is no need to go through all the trouble." Timothy raised his glass again. "Please forgive me this time.We will work together to overcome the challenges of HG Enterprise, okay? I don’t think you would like to see the company become an awful mess like this. As for our core value, we all want HG Enterprise to get increasingly better."
