Chapter 418: Now, We Can Only Leave It Up To Luck
"But HG, with a huge foundation, has lasted for so many years., With just one failure and you’re certain that HG won’t be able to get back on its feet?" Wendy Stewart shut her eyes and made a look of impatience. "How about you state your proposal, Mr. Teigen? We can still discuss, is that right?"
"Forget it, let’s just follow the contract," Teigen said. "Y’all should be unable to produce the compensation I want, so there’s no need to discuss further."
"Mr. Teigen, you still have to say it out loud, if not how would you know that we can’t produce it?" Wendy looked like she was enthusiastically wanting to save this relationship.
"Alright, then I’ll let you protect your dignity, Ms. Swift," Teigen said to Wendy. "The problem with this batch of products is on your company, and it has caused my company to suffer great losses. Thus, my proposal is a replenishment of the products within five days, and for the prepaid fees for this batch to be completely refunded. If the second batch has no problem, then we can continue to cooperate. If there’s a problem again, y’all shall pay 10 times the prepaid fees given by my company previously."
"Mr. Teigen, your proposal is too much. You are asking that we refund the prepaid fees to you and if the new products have no problem, then it would be equivalent to you not paying a single cent of this batch. If the new batch is problematic, we still have to give you 10 times the compensation. Is that right" Wendy’s expression was beyond shocked.
This proposal from Teigen was indeed extremely ridiculous.
Of course, Wendy was very satisfied.
Because the more ridiculous it was and the more it could not be discussed, then the more Wendy could not be blamed.
"That’s why I said that there’s no need to continue discussing," Teigen smiled coldly, completely displaying a poor attitude towards Wendy.
"Mr. Teigen, let’s each take a step back, okay?" Wendy turned her head and took a look at Rosa Perrie, and saw that her face was very grave.
Wendy went straight to the low price that Timothy Woods gave and said, "In the contract, we stated that the compensation was 30% of the prepaid fees. I’ll adjust it to 60% for you. Our company, HG Enterprise, is really sincere."
"Apologies," Teigen shook his head as he said the word.
Wendy once again looked at Rosa, not knowing what to say.
Rosa smiled and said to him, "Mr. Teigen, our cooperation is not measured in just one or two days, I know that we probably have no way of convincing your company with this compensation. But even if you don’t consider our past friendship, you should still consider the benefits that HG can bring to your company later."
"But..." Wendy stopped in her words, and could only heave a sigh at last.
She reached out and pulled Rosa to a side, and asked her softly, "Do we ask Mr.
Woods first about the conditions he just proposed?"
"This proposal is way beyond reasonable boundaries, it’s not much better than cutting ties. Furthermore, it’s 10 times the compensation if there’s a problem with the second batch again. Although we can control the quantity of the second, in terms of time, are we really able to give the products within five days? Teigen’s products are quite a lot," Rosa’s face was grave. "I think Timothy wouldn’t agree."
"Then what now? Forget it?"
"You discuss a bit more, I’ll try asking Timothy." Although Rosa knew that it was impossible, she still intended to ask.
Wendy nodded.
Rosa walked to the side to make the call.
...
As for Wendy Stewart, she sat back on her seat and said with a pretentious look, "Mr. Teigen, see if you’re able to propose more flexibly, HG has really met a crisis this time. Or if you have a request in any other aspects, we can discuss it again."
Rosa Perrie was not there and the assistant was standing far away.
When everyone was not noticing, Wendy nodded with a smile to Teigen.
But very quickly, Wendy’s face resumed its sternness.
Teigen knew her meaning upon her change in expression.
"Apologies, but there’s really no need to continue discussing," Teigen firmly declined.
Not long after, Rosa returned.
She shook her head at Wendy and said softly, "The call didn’t go through."
"What now then?" Wendy asked.
Rosa lowered her head with a stern face and sighed slightly as she said, "Forget it."
Teigen’s proposal was ridiculous in itself. It would be impossible for Timothy to agree.
It was not important that this call did not get through either.
Moreover, even if Timothy had really agreed, they would not be able to do it either.
Wendy sucked in a deep breath and looked very regretful, "It seems that Teigen has decided. Since that’s the case, then forget it. I have no more ways to persuade you.
Hope that if there’s a chance in future, we can cooperate once more."
"Sure." Teigen raised his hand to look at the time and said, "It’s about time to eat, work is work, connections are connections. Since Ms. Swift has come to my area, you still have to have a meal."
"It’s okay, we still have a lot of things to deal with. We won’t be eating with you," Wendy sighed as she depressively picked up her bag and turned to leave.
Rosa and the assistant followed behind her.
Seeing that they had left, Teigen took out his phone and sent a text message to Michael Lucas.
The message only had a simple statement, "All was smooth."
After Wendy and Rosa walked out of the office, Wendy sighed and said, "I initially thought that Teigen would show me some respect since we’ve cooperated for so many years. Seems like there’s really no friendship in business. I begged him to, but he wasn’t even willing to give HG a chance."
Rosa looked at Wendy’s expression and reached out to pat her on the shoulder.
Afraid that she was feeling miserable, she comforted, "This wasn’t your fault, the business is like a battlefield in the first place. Teigen isn’t the first who disregarded good relations, neither would he be the last. I know you’ve tried your best."
Wendy smiled bitterly and shook her head, "What’s the point of trying my best? I still can’t complete Mr. Woods’s assignment. Just now, Mr. Woods even specially called to tell me to do it at all cost."
"Don’t be upset, I’ll talk to Mr. Woods. You’re already very amazing. If it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t have been able to take back the previous two clients. Furthermore, if it was another person rather than Teigen today, they might not even turn up," Rosa said. "Don’t worry, Mr. Woods isn’t an unreasonable person either."
Hearing Rosa’s words, Wendy nodded, looking grave on the surface but was very happy on the inside.
Timothy Woods had initially deployed Rosa to monitor Wendy’s every move as he was afraid that she was not working for HG.
It seemed like this was beneficial to Wendy now.
At least, Rosa would help speak for Wendy.
She had personally seen how hardworking Wendy was in order to save HG Enterprise.
Of course, what Rosa had personally seen was just what Wendy wanted her to see.
"Cheer up, we still have to go to the next country." Rosa patted Wendy on the shoulder once again and sighed, "Failing at one is fine, let’s go get the next one."
Wendy agreed.
...
Wendy Stewart and Rosa Perrie did not stop as they arrived at new countries and met with the other clients.
It was a shame that they did not even turn up.
Wendy had already been at the venue for more than an hour and made countless calls, but no one picked up even once.
Hearing the beeping sound of the call being declined straightaway, Wendy paced anxiously on the spot.
Seeing that Wendy kept calling, Rosa was also anxious.
"How’s it? No one has picked up?" Rosa asked, seeing that Wendy put down the phone.
Wendy creased her forehead and took a deep breath as she shook her head, "Still not getting through."
"Then what do we do now?" Rosa asked.
"I don’t know either." Wendy closed her eyes as she put the phone heavily down on the table.
"Seems like Michael has already met with this client. If not, we were talking well before, why would they suddenly not even pick up a call?"
"We can’t keep waiting either, and if they really don’t intend to turn up, we’re just wasting time if we continue waiting," Rosa calmly analyzed. "We can’t waste too much time, or the clients might still be snatched away by Michael first later on."
"I’ll text him and see if he’ll reply," Wendy said.
Rosa shook her head.
Just as she was about to say something else, the phone rang.
Timothy Woods had called.
Rosa did not hesitate and picked up the call right in front of Wendy.
Once it connected, Rosa poured it all out.
There were no outsiders here anyway.
"Have y’all met him?" Timothy asked openly.
"No, we’ve waited more than an hour already. We’re thinking that we can’t keep waiting, or else with Michael snatching the clients before us, we wouldn’t be able to pay for the losses," Rosa said.
Hearing that, Timothy closed his eyes, he felt breathlessness in his chest.
A while later, Timothy suppressed his feelings and said, "Then what do y’all intend to do next? Who would y’all meet?"
"We don’t know who Michael is going to meet next. Have you checked Michael’s travel arrangements on your side?" Rosa asked. "If you’ve checked it and we know who Michael is meeting next, then we shall omit the client whom he’s going to meet.
This way, we’d at least still have a chance."
"Michael is clearly jumping at the chance to snatch away the clients and the market.
His travel route won’t be easy for us to check, but I will ask someone to continue checking. I’ll inform y’all first thing when there’s news," Timothy said. "Now, we can only leave it up to luck. I just don’t believe that Michael would be able to snatch every client before y’all. If really so, that’ll only mean that..." Timothy did not finish his words, but it was very clear what he meant.
He suspected that there was a spy in HG Enterprise.
And the first suspect of being the spy was definitely Wendy.
Timothy did not know that this call had been put on speaker. Rosa took a look at Wendy and clearly saw that her face was grave. She immediately interrupted him, "Definitely impossible. How could every client be snatched before us?"
"It’s best if that’s so," Timothy sighed. "Report to me any time when there’s news."
"Alright," the sound of Timothy hanging up sounded in Rosa’s phone.
Wendy initially wanted to speak just now, but Timothy’s words made her become grave and she was silent.
...
Rosa Perrie took up the phone and looked at Wendy Stewart as she explained in a low voice, "Well, Mr. Woods, he..." Rosa initially wanted to help speak for Timothy Woods, but come to think of it, what she was going to say were empty words.
It was okay for her not to explain.
If she explained, wouldn’t it be clearly telling Wendy that she was the one Timothy was talking about?
It would instead make her unable to pull herself out of the situation.
Therefore, halfway through, Rosa did not know what to say.
Wendy’s face was grave and she was silent.
The atmosphere seemed to quiet down just like that.
Wendy’s phone suddenly vibrated and it was the notification of a text message.
She looked at her phone. It was sent by the client who they were meeting with today.
The text message was just a simple statement, "Apologies, but I think we shall just cut our ties, y’all don’t have to wait anymore either. I won’t be turning up."
Wendy passed the phone to Rosa to let her have a look.
Seeing the text message, the crease on Rosa’s forehead deepened.
Picking up her bag, Wendy sighed and said flatly, "Let’s go. Let’s meet the next client and hope the next client won’t be one whom Michael has met, or I won’t be able to clear my name."
"Corrine, Timothy didn’t mean it that way. He was just casually saying it," Rosa said awkwardly.
"Doesn’t matter. This isn’t the first time Mr. Woods speaks casually," Wendy disappointedly shook her head with a smile. "Let’s go."
Looking at Wendy’s back silhouette, Rosa could not help but sigh.
As Rosa saw it, Wendy did not have a problem.
She did not know about the circumstances during this period of time and felt that it was Timothy who was too much.
Wendy was clearly helping HG genuinely, yet she was still suspected by him.
Luckily, talking to the next client was very smooth. Wendy listed out the compensation conditions that gave their country priority rights. They had decided to give HG another chance.
After engaging with this client, Wendy deliberately said to Rosa, "Ms. Perrie, you can tell Mr. Woods that we have won over this client successfully. As for whether he still wants to suspect me, it’s up to him. What I can do is already more or less done anyway."
"Corrine..." Rosa felt a little guilty towards Wendy, or could it be said guilt towards Timothy. She said, "Mr. Woods is also anxious about HG’s situation. He certainly has said some incorrect things. I apologize on behalf of him. Don’t take it to heart. I’ve seen all that you’ve done for HG in these few days."
"As long as it’s seen by Ms. Perrie," Wendy smiled lightly, but her smile was devoid of happiness as she had a disappointed and sad look.
Rosa opened her mouth but stopped again.
At last, she could only sigh then give Timothy a call and tell him about the updated progress.
Timothy heaved a sigh of relief after receiving the call.
The call ended after a simple reporting of the news.
Timothy sat on the office chair and pressed his temple with his hand, feeling that his headache had gotten worse again.
After closing his eyes, Timothy would still have to continue working.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
It was Timothy’s assistant.
"CEO, I’ve already checked Michael’s travel route as you asked, but..." The assistant lowered his head, not knowing how to continue.
"But what?" Timothy asked.
"Take a look." The assistant walked up and passed the documents in his hand to Timothy.
Timothy creased his forehead as he received it and lowered his head to read the documents in his hands doubtfully.
The more he looked, the worse he looked.
