Chapter 369: It Was Not Impossible To Develop Affection

"I don’t know about that." Todd indeed did not know.

"Then, I will call back later." Yonina hung up the phone.

Without Todd’s voice in the background, Yonina looked at Michael, "He probably wanted to make you angry on purpose. Don’t mind it. We can talk to Wendy later, then we will know."

Michael shook his head, and sounded sorrowful and upset, "We all saw the surveillance video. If Todd and Wendy were not this close, then he would not easily pick up her phone. Also, Wendy waited for a long time at his door, and they were eating together near his home this late. Even if Christian forged the video, then was what happened tonight also a coincidence?"

"Well... " Yonina did not know how to comfort Michael at that moment.

Michael was certainly reasonable.

If Wendy and Todd had no special relationship, they should not be together this late.

However, Wendy knew that Yonina’s relationship with Michael was fake, and she was helping them fight against Christian all the time.

If Wendy really no longer cared about Michael, then she would care about nothing and only enjoy herself with Todd.

After thinking for a while, Yonina still said, "Do not think too much. Let’s call Wendy later and ask her."

Michael said nothing, and Yonina also kept silent.

And Wendy came out of the restroom at this time.

Wendy sat down again and asked, "What were we talking about just now?"

"We were talking about whether Timothy would tell this to Christian." Todd glanced at Wendy’s phone and said, "By the way, Mr. Lucas called you just now. I helped you pick up since you were in the restroom."

Wendy subconsciously looked at the phone on the table, and her smile faded a little after hearing what Todd said. "Did he say anything?"

"He asked me why I picked up your phone and asked me why I was with you this late," Todd answered. "I told him the truth; he seemed very angry."

"Haha," Wendy laughed lightly. "Was he angry? Does he have any right to be angry?"

Wendy did not truly forgive Michael.

Wendy felt that she was foolish when she thought about what happened before.

No matter what Michael did, she would forgive him as quickly as possible.

Even when Yvonne Taylor and Michael enjoyed themselves right in front of her, Wendy would bear it.

Now, how did he have any right to be angry?

"As long as you do not blame me." Todd felt relieved since he was afraid that Wendy might get angry.

After all, they were both well aware of their true relationship.

He had no right or standpoint to pick up Wendy’s phone.

He was not qualified to say those words to Michael.

"Why should I blame you?" Wendy gave a kebab to Todd and smiled lightly. "I want to say thank you to you; please help me irritate him more. If he dies out of anger, I will be more grateful to you."

Todd could tell Wendy did not mean it.

Todd clenched his hands on his knees more tightly.

Then, he took the kebab that Wendy handed to him and smiled calmly as usual. "Are you really willing to let him die out of anger?"

Hearing what Todd said, Wendy looked up at him and saw him look down with a calm expression.

Wendy answered calmly, "Why am I not willing? How many times did he irritate me before? Now, what happens to him could not even be compared to what happened to me at that time."

Todd did not know what had happened between Wendy and Michael, but he generally knew that Wendy loved Michael very much.

The more she loved before, the more she hated now.

Wendy worked so hard to go back for revenge.

But why did she fall in love with Michael again?

Todd suddenly did not regret picking up the phone and saying those words.

He never harmed Wendy, but he neither never won her heart.

"Let’s talk about important matters," smiled Wendy. "Do you think that Timothy will tell this to Christian? Just as we have discussed, Timothy should always follow Christian’s arrangement. If he tells Christian, maybe you will be in danger. Timothy might consider your mutual affection before, but Christian will not. People like Christian would rather kill wrongly than tolerate others."

"I don’t know," Todd shook his head. "It depends on how much mutual affection there is between Timothy and me. He made much effort to protect me years ago.

But we do not need to worry too much, after all, Timothy has no evidence. He will more or less have some doubts when he has no evidence."

Wendy was about to say something when the phone rang.

Seeing that the incoming call was from Michael, she frowned and put it on the table, with its face down.

Todd subconsciously pointed to the phone and asked, "Maybe Mr. Lucas is calling;

don’t you want to pick it up?"

"I have nothing to say to him." Wendy thought she always communicated important matters with Yonina, so it did not matter whether she picked up Michael’s call or not.

"But I felt that Mr. Lucas was very angry just now, don’t you want to explain?" Todd said this on purpose.

Because he knew that Wendy would not want to explain.

"Why should I explain anything to him?" Wendy laughed. "I have nothing to do with him anymore."

Even though Todd knew that Wendy was not telling the truth, he was happy to hear that.

The more misunderstandings there were between Wendy and Michael, the bigger the chance he had to win Wendy’s heart.

Todd knew this thought of his was immoral, but he could not help it.

He had loved Wendy for five years.

She was just about to agree to be his girlfriend when suddenly something unexpected happened.

How could Todd give up at this time?

The phone was still ringing.

Wendy neither picked it up nor cut it off.

The phone rang again shortly then it stopped ringing.

Todd sat next to her and said nothing.

They both fell silent.

He was observing whether Wendy would pick up the phone or not.

Wendy did not hang it up, actually, Todd knew that she wanted to pick it up.

But since Wendy was with Todd and she just said those words to him, picking up the phone would mean that she was not telling the truth.

Todd looked down and sighed silently. He looked at Wendy with a smile, "Pick it up.

Mr. Lucas keeps calling. Maybe he has something important to tell you."

Actually, Michael only made the first phone call by himself. He had no courage to call again as nobody picked it up the first time he called.

The rest of the calls were made by Yonina.

Yonina was a little anxious seeing that nobody answered the phone every time.

She pondered for a while and told Michael, "Let me call her from my phone; Wendy would probably pick up my phone."

Michael felt even more upset after hearing that.

Michael shook his head with a bitter smile, "Now I can only say something to Wendy through your phone. Maybe I no longer need to ask."

Seeing that Michael was crestfallen and upset, Yonina felt anxious as well.

Yonina lost her confidence given this situation.

After all, Wendy had not forgiven Michael.

Todd was always very nice to her, accompanying her every day and sharing their happiness and sadness together.

It was not impossible to develop affection as time went on.

However, they had to get in touch with Wendy anyway.

Pursing her lips, Yonina directly called Wendy with her phone.

The phone rang again, and Wendy thought that Michael made the call, and she hesitated.

Should she pick it up or not?

She thought that she could not ignore Michael’s phone call forever.

Wendy’s heart softened after she took a deep breath.

Picking up the phone, Wendy realized that the call was not from Michael.

It was from Yonina instead.

But Wendy could guess that Michael was probably together with Yonina.

Otherwise, how could the two phone calls be so close to each other, and especially how could Yonina call her right after she ignored Michael’s calls?

Without hesitation, Wendy answered the phone, "Ms. Collins?"

Wendy spoke first.

"Wendy... " Yonina had already regarded Wendy as her friend, so she called her not by her title, Ms. Stewart, but by her name. "Michael kept calling you just now, but you did not pick up, so I had to call you with my phone."

"What happened?" Wendy said calmly.

"There is something I need to let you know." Glancing at Michael next to her, she told Wendy, "However, since Mr. Lucas knew it better, I will let him tell you about it."Yonina was creating opportunities for Wendy and Michael on purpose.

But Michael already lost his confidence when he saw Yonina hand the phone to him.

He hesitated for a while, but he still did not dare to take the phone.

Yonina directly put the phone in his hand.

Michael was forced to take the phone. He swallowed and put the phone close to his ear.

"Say something." Seeing that Michael said nothing for a long time, she became anxious and whispered to him.

"I... " Michael took a deep breath, but he did not know what to say.

"I will just hang up if there is nothing you want to say," Wendy sounded very calm.

Yonina stood right next to Michael, and the distance was close, so she heard what Wendy had said on the other end of the phone.

She said immediately, "Please do not hang up. There is something you need to know."

Then, Yonina whispered to Michael, "At least tell Wendy the important matters."

Michael looked down and said, "I have finished what you asked me to do last time.

The purchasing agent and the quality checking staff of the vendor have agreed to cooperate with us."

Wendy felt that Michael sounded muffled.

But she did not expose her feelings.

Wendy just said yes. She initially did not want to say anything, but when she glanced at Todd, she thought of how Todd controlled the daughter of the security guard lead.

After hesitating for a moment, Wendy asked, "Can I ask you how you accomplished it?"

"Money, as long as we give enough money, nobody can resist the temptation," Michael answered.

"What else?" Wendy did not know why she kept talking with Michael.

"And to be secure, I kidnapped their wives. They all loved their wives very much, so please be rest assured. Nothing accidental would happen." Michael told the truth, "And I promised them that I would help them leave Rheinsville City so that their companies and HG would never find them and their families for their whole life."
