Chapter 251: She Didn’t Want To Leave Now
Wendy pushed Michael away and sat up.
She glanced at the caller ID and the caller’s name was Timothy.
Wendy’s memory hadn’t fully recovered, and so far, she could only recall some fragments in bits and pieces.
As for this Timothy, Wendy had heard Jill mention him often.
He should be Jill’s father, and her godfather.
She heard that he was the one who saved her and helped her back then.
If it wasn’t for this Timothy, Wendy would have lost her life, not to mention becoming a top designer.
Timothy had also called Wendy a few times before, but they were all simple greetings of concern and work-related matters.
Wendy pushed the answer button and said with respect, "Hello, Timothy."
The name "Timothy" was still somewhat unfamiliar to Wendy now.
"Corrine... " Timothy’s voice came through the phone, "It must be nighttime over there now. Are you sleeping? Did I disturb your rest?"
"No, no," Wendy glanced at Michael on the side and blushed with some embarrassment.
Fortunately, it was a phone call right now and only the sound could be heard, but not their appearance seen.
"That’s good." Timothy continued to say, "How are you recovering now? How are you doing?"
"Physically, I’m fine. Thank you for your concern, Timothy."
"What about your memory?"
"My memory still hasn’t recovered much, but the doctor said it will come back to me slowly, so I’m not in a hurry."
"That’s good."
"Timothy, if you have something to say, just say it." Listening to the tone of Timothy’s words, Wendy was vaguely uneasy.
"It’s like this. After the decision of the board of directors, we hope you can come back to work at HG." When Timothy talked about work, his tone got a little more serious as he said, "HG has an important design project next, and the board of directors agreed that only you are able to handle this project."
When she heard this news, Wendy’s expression instantly became heavy.
She glanced at Michael, lowered her eyes, gripped the phone and said, "Timothy, my memory has not fully recovered yet, so I’m afraid I won’t be able to handle an important project. There are a lot of talented people in the company, and they should be better than me."
"Didn’t you submit a letter of resignation to the headquarters before? At that time, the board of directors felt that it was not quite appropriate for you to come back, but now that there is an opportunity, they are all thinking of transferring you back."
At that time, Wendy wanted to leave Lake City and Michael, so she resigned.
Now, she didn’t really want to leave.
"But, but the collaboration on the MC side can’t find someone to take over temporarily, right?" Wendy looked for an excuse and said, "How about I just continue at MC, and you pick a more suitable person for HG’s new project?"
"You know, I don’t make decisions on the board alone. Corrine, don’t make things difficult for me."
"I... " Wendy bit her lip and was in a difficult position.
"Tell you what, I’ll call the board again to discuss this matter and see if there are more suitable candidates." Timothy sighed on the other end of the phone and said, "That’s all I can do. But don’t get your hopes up."
"Thank you, Timothy."
The phone was hung up and there was a beeping sound.
Holding the phone, Wendy lowered her head with a heavy expression on her face.
Wendy couldn’t even remember how she had lived her five years in Rheinsville City. But she felt familiar with Lake City, with MC, with Michael.
Asking her to go back to HG now would be like asking her to start everything over.
It was indeed a difficult thing for Wendy to do.
Most importantly, she didn’t want to leave now.
"What’s wrong?" As Michael listened to Wendy’s call, his expression was somewhat sullen.
Holding the phone, Wendy turned her head and bit her lips slightly, took a deep breath and said to Michael, "Timothy said that the HG board of directors wants to transfer me back."
"Aren’t you doing a good job at MC? What is the meaning of transferring you back at this time?" Michael frowned in confusion.
"I... " Wendy slightly lowered her eyes. In fact, she herself didn’t really know what was going on, so she said truthfully, "Timothy said that I had submitted a letter of resignation before, so when the opportunity arose this time, the board wanted to transfer me back."
"I know you submitted a letter of resignation, but that was three months ago."
Michael frowned more intensely as he felt that there was something strange about the matter and said, "There has been no previous reply to you, and you are doing well in MC, so there is no reason to transfer you back to the headquarters."
"I’m not well aware of the situation either," Wendy sighed and was obviously in a heavy mood.
Michael reached out and took Wendy’s shoulder to let her head rest on his shoulder.
After a moment of silence, Michael said, "Why don’t you quit your job? After you quit, you can come to MC if you want to work or stay home with your two kids if you don’t want to work. If you neither want to do nothing at home nor work at MC, then I’ll set up a studio for you to run on your own. How about that?"
For Michael, this was in his power.
"That’s not good," said Wendy. "Although there are still many things I can’t remember, Timothy probably helped me a lot in those five years. And I got to where I am today because of Timothy ’s training. To resign at this time would be a bit ungrateful."
"I can make it up to HG," Michael said. "As long as you agree, I can talk to HG to get them to let you go."
"I... " Wendy bit her lip and was a little uncertain of what to do.
Looking up at Michael, Wendy hesitated and said, "Timothy says he’ll help me give another shot at it. Let’s wait and see how it goes."
"Okay." Michael nodded his head without forcing Wendy to make a decision.
It was just that both of them had things on their minds.
Whether it was Michael or Wendy, neither wanted her to go to HG right now.
Going to HG would mean that they would be separated from each other. And they had two kids.
On Monday, everything seemed to be running right on track.
Leah and Jake went to school together, while Wendy and Michael went to work together.
"Wendy... " Jill came striding in and called out to Wendy with no response, so she had to say again, "Wendy?"
"What’s wrong?" Wendy came back to her senses, looked up at Jill and said, "What’s up?"
"There’s a department meeting at ten o’clock, and it’s already eight minutes past ten o’clock. Did you forget?" Jill said. "Everyone from the department is already in the conference room."
Wendy subconsciously looked at the time, took a deep breath and smiled as she said, "I really forgot it. Let’s go."
Wendy stood up and organized the materials for the meeting.
"What’s wrong with you, sis?" Jill looked at Wendy’s expression and said with some concern, "Is something wrong?"
This wasn’t like the way Wendy should be at work.
"Nothing, let’s go to the meeting," Wendy shook her head and didn’t say much.
