Chapter 240: Still Do A Lot Of Things

"Who is Yvonne?" It wasn’t the first time Wendy had heard this name. Jake had explained it to her once before.

However, Wendy still wanted to hear what Michael had to say.

Wendy saw Michael’s head bowed and his low voice came through saying, "Yvonne is a friend of mine. Technically speaking, she was a friend of a friend of mine and his name was Harold. Harold liked Yvonne, and Yvonne liked me. Harold died in a car accident and had asked me to take care of Yvonne before he died.

"Because I was driving the car at the time, I felt a deep sense of guilt towards Harold.

"At that time, I didn’t like anyone, so I thought I would take care of Yvonne as a sister. Of course, at that time, I thought that I would marry Yvonne if things developed. But then you appeared, and I married you.

"I didn’t love you at first, and you know that.

"Yvonne always loved me, so after we got married, she did a lot of things. Because my guilt over Harold was transferred to Yvonne, I was always indulging her, and she kept posing as my girlfriend.

"So, during those years, Yvonne did a lot of arrogant and domineering things on account of my pampering. I knew some of those things but turned a blind eye to them. This included a lot of bullying towards you. Because I hated you at that time, I even deliberately let Yvonne target you.

"Then you came back, and Yvonne turned on you with murderous intent. The reason why you had the accident was also because of her secret manipulation. But don’t worry, I’ve dealt with it."

Wendy didn’t know whether Michael was telling the truth or not. But at this point, she chose to believe him.

Last time, Jake had also said that Yvonne was dead.

Since this was the case, Wendy would not hold on to this matter anymore. Michael had never talked to Wendy about these issues because he didn’t want her to regain her memory. But now, he had already thought it through, so he answered all of Wendy’s questions truthfully.

Michael only hoped that it would help her to recover her memory.

Wendy did not ask any more questions, but her eyes surveyed this small house.

If they got married and lived in such an ordinary neighborhood, it was clear that Michael did not love her at first.

Biting her lip, Wendy turned around and left the room.

"Aren’t you going to look around?" Michael asked as he followed Wendy.

"I’m not going to look anymore, so let’s go." Wendy took a deep breath and said with a smile on her face, "Besides, I’ve seen almost everything."

The room was just that big, so there was nothing more to see.

"So, do you remember anything?" Michael said, "If you have any questions, you can ask me. Don’t worry, I’ll tell you the truth."

"Nothing substantial comes to mind," Wendy spoke up.

Hearing this answer, Michael frowned and said, "Maybe it’s because you took memory suppressing drugs for a while before, plus you haven’t taken any memory restoring drugs during this period. Today, before leaving home, you just took it once. The effect of the medicine should not be that fast."

Michael was afraid that Wendy could not remember and felt upset, so he continued, "You didn’t remember anything? Wendy, don’t be anxious. Even if you can’t remember now, if you take your medication regularly, you will eventually want to remember."

"There are some flashbacks, like in the hospital, but I can’t piece together any specific memories," Wendy said truthfully.

Listening to Wendy’s words, Michael pursed his lips and seemed to be thinking.

Then, he took Wendy’s hand and said, "Let’s go to the hospital."

When Wendy looked at Michael’s anxious appearance, she couldn’t help but feel a little amused and said, "Why are you so anxious for me to remember now? Aren’t you afraid that I will really leave you when I remember?"

This was a question Wendy had asked many times. Michael had answered several times.

"I did something wrong before. I’m sorry. Sometimes it’s better to get it over with than to have things inside you." Michael held her hand tightly and pulled her into the elevator.

Michael really took Wendy to the hospital.

He went to Metropolitan Hospital to see the same doctor as the last time.

Metropolitan Hospital was the best hospital in Lake City, and the doctor who saw her before was also the best doctor in neurology.

When the doctor saw Michael and Wendy, there was no change in his expression, but he was a little worried in his heart.

After all, he was the one who gave Michael the medicine to suppress memory recovery.

Although Michael came to him once more to ask him to change the medicine back, now that the two came together, the doctor felt uneasy.

The doctor didn’t know if Wendy was here today to see the doctor or to settle the score.

The doctor didn’t dare look into Wendy’s eyes and said in a polite tone, "Mr. Lucas, Mrs. Lucas, are you here for a checkup today?"

"Yes, I’m here for a follow up. See if there’s anything you can do to get her memory back quickly." Michael said, "She is now able to recall some fragments of her memory."

The doctor was relieved to hear this and said, "Mrs. Lucas, describe to me carefully what memories you have remembered and under what circumstances?"

Wendy answered the doctor’s question truthfully.

The doctor then gave Wendy a series of tests.

"Mrs. Lucas has recovered from the physical damage caused by the accident, and as for the memory, there are ways to recover it quickly, but there is a risk of repercussions." The doctor said truthfully, "I can hypnotize Mrs. Lucas and awaken her deepest memories."

"Then what is this repercussion you speak of?" Michael was concerned about this question.

"The outcome of the repercussions is not certain." The doctor said, "It’s possible that it will go well without any backlash, but once it happens, Mrs. Lucas may completely close the memory."

"It means that if the hypnosis is not successful and the memory is not awakened, then the memory will be completely lost?" Wendy asked.

Looking at the doctor nodding, Wendy pursed her lips and exchanged a glance with Michael.

Both of them had worry in their eyes.

The doctor said again, "Actually, the probability of repercussions is very low and about a small percentage.

"But I don’t recommend Mrs. Lucas to do the hypnosis. She is able to remember the scenes now, so slowly she will remember them all. As long as she takes her medication regularly, she should be able to remember in six months at most. Even if she doesn’t take her medication, it will only take two to three years for the memories to come back. So, if you’re not so anxious to recover, it’s best to let nature take its course."

"Then forget it." Wendy refused as she said, "I won’t be hypnotized."

She didn’t have to remember right away, but Michael was more anxious than she was.

If she really remembered everything after hypnosis, it would not be accurate at all. There would be a course to recover slowly at least.

"Then no hypnosis," Michael was also in agreement.

Of course, he had a selfish motive.

During the period when Wendy was slowly recovering her memory, he could still do a lot of things.

This way, even if Wendy remembered later, her memories would not be exclusively bad ones.
