Chapter 230: The Pills Seemed Different
Wendy smiled widely and shook her head, "I won’t take it anymore."
Wendy had not been able to fall asleep last night because she had been thinking about this issue.
She had thought about it for a long time. And she decided to give up on regaining her memories for the children and herself. Or perhaps, to be more exact, she was not going to give up her memories but that she was just going to go with the flow.
She did not want to use the medication as an aid anymore.
If she were to regain her memories after that, then so be it.
If she would never be able to regain her memories without taking medication, then she shall begin anew with Michael.
"You aren’t going to take them anymore?" Michael was a little shocked at that.
He had just switched out the medication last night.
Before that, those medications had been stoppinh her from regaining her memories. The pills in his hands were the ones that had been prescribed to her at the beginning for her to regain her memories.
Michael saw the light in Wendy’s eyes. There was also a smile of acceptance.
At that moment, Michael realized how selfish he had been.
Wendy had already guessed that those memories might ruin their life right now. That was why she had chosen to give them up.
But what about him?
He had secretly switched out her medicine because he was afraid that she would leave him.
When he thought of that, Michael lifted his hand and slapped his face viciously.
"What are you doing?" Wendy did not understand what he was doing. When she saw him hitting himself, she immediately reached out to stop him. "Why are you hitting yourself?"
Michael looked into Wendy’s clear eyes and his guilt grew even stronger.
He deserved to be slapped!
Michael took in a deep breath and handed the medicine to Wendy again. He said with a smile, "Take the medicine. Didn’t you really want to regain your memory?"
"I am not in a hurry to do so anymore." Wendy looked at Michael’s face. There was a red mark on it.
He had been truly vicious to himself. He had hit himself so hard that he had left a mark.
Wendy turned around and said, "Let me go get ice for your face."
Wendy quickly returned with an ice pack. She placed it carefully over his face and asked, "Does it still hurt? Why did you slap yourself suddenly?"
Michael held Wendy’s hand. He could feel the coolness coming from his face as he said seriously, "Wendy, thank you."
"What’s wrong with you today?" Wendy felt that Michael was behaving oddly.
"It’s nothing." Michael took the glass of warm water on the table and handed it together with the pills to Wendy. He tried to convince her, "You were right. Memories are part of us. You should find those eight years that you’ve lost. I have said before that I will help you."
Wendy frowned when she saw Michael trying to convince her to take the medicine again and again.
Michael was behaving really oddly today.
"Didn’t you not want me to regain my memories before?"
Michael had told her that the last time they fought.
"But I hope that you will remember them now." Michael smiled and he felt a great sense of relief. "Perhaps it is just like how you had wanted to regain your memories but don’t want to anymore."
When Wendy looked at the pills on Michael’s palm, she hesitated for a moment before taking them.
Her confusion made Wendy take a second look at the pills.
The more she looked at it, the more she felt that the pills looked different from the ones she took yesterday.
Even though they were both white and round, it looked as if the words printed on them are different.
But Wendy was not sure either.
She did not pay attention to the pills when she took her medicine.
She looked up at Michael and saw that he was insistent that she took the medicine.
She knew that he was doing this for her own good.
Wendy smiled and placed the pills in her mouth. Then, she picked up the glass of water and drank it.
When Michael saw that Wendy had taken the pills, the weight on his chest lifted slightly.
"I think my phone is in the bedroom. I’ll go get it." Wendy said as she stood up.
Turning around and going into the bedroom, Wendy opened her mouth and spit out the medicine.
In front of Michael, she would take the medicine. Because Michael wanted her to get her memory back. But Wendy didn’t want to recover her memory.
If she did regain her memory, her peaceful life would be shattered.
She hoped that day would never come.
With her head bowed, Wendy threw the pills into the trash can.
When she was about to turn around and go out, she saw that there were still pills in the trash can that she had dropped on the ground yesterday.
Frowning, Wendy bent down and picked them up.
Their bedroom usually had little trash, and Zess would not clean their bedroom every day because it was a bit inconvenient after all.
So, the pills that were dropped yesterday were still there.
Just now when taking the pills, Wendy felt as if the pills were different.
Subconsciously, Wendy wanted to compare them.
The pills in Wendy’s mouth were partially melted away and the surface of the pills became blurred.
She pulled open the drawer and took out the medicine that was kept inside.
Pouring out the pills inside, Wendy compared them with yesterday’s pills.
"Wendy..." Michael shouted into the bedroom. "The phone is on the couch so don’t look for it in the bedroom."
The sudden voice made Wendy’s body tremble subconsciously.
Wendy took a deep breath and calmed down.
She responded, "It’s on the couch? No wonder I didn’t find it in the bedroom."
With her head down, Wendy looked at the pills in her hand. She found that the pills were different.
There were only two pills that had fallen to the floor yesterday, but these two were different from either of the ones she took today.
Although both were white, round, and about the same size, yesterday’s pills were smooth, and nothing was printed on them.
Today’s pills, on the other hand, had small letters printed on them, and some of them had letters that Wendy couldn’t read.
Slightly lowering her eyelids, Wendy swallowed hard, and her mind was a little confused.
"Why aren’t you out yet?" Michael saw that Wendy did not come out for a while and could not help but come to the bedroom to check on her.
Michael’s voice made Wendy a little flustered.
She smoothly put all the pills in her bag aside and turned her head to look at him with a smile on her face as she said, "I was looking for lipstick and there was a shade that I liked. I don’t know where I carelessly put it."
Michael saw that there was indeed a bag in front of Wendy and did not suspect much. He went over to her, reached out and put his arm around her, and said, "If you can’t find it, just buy it again because our family is not short of money."
"Okay," Wendy said with a forced smile. "Then let’s go to the office."
Michael drove the car himself and went to work with Wendy at MC.
On the way, Wendy was still a bit confused. She didn’t know why the pills were different. She hadn’t touched the medicine.
She had taken all the pills the doctor had prescribed for her before, and then she had a refill.
Wendy wasn’t sure if the pills were the same as the previous ones. After all, she hadn’t even noticed this before. But anyway, Wendy was taking the same box of pills yesterday and today, so how could it be different?
Looking down, Wendy took a deep breath.
In fact, she had already guessed that the medicine was changed by Michael.
In this family, besides Michael, no one else would change her medication.
But why would Michael change it?
And what kind of medicine was it?
