Chapter 182: We’re Family

Both Jake and Leah Lewis were very happy that Wendy was recovering well and that she would see them in a week.

Each of them held each of Wendy’s hands as Leah exclaimed happily, "Mommy, you have to be obedient and follow the doctor’s orders then you’ll recover quickly. When I was sick in the past, I recovered very quickly because I listened to the doctor and ate my medicine. When you regain your sight again, you’ll definitely remember the past once you see me and Jake."

Upon hearing Leah talk about her illness in the past, Wendy thought of what Todd said to her before leaving.

Leah’s illness in the past seemed to be somewhat critical. But fortunately, she had already recovered.

According to Todd, she just has to go for regular checkups and it’s nothing serious.

Wendy lifted her hand to pet Leah’s head before smiling and muttering, "Alright, I’ll definitely listen to the doctor well and undergo treatment. When I regain my sight, I’ll have to take a good look at both of you. Both of you must be so good-looking."

Although she couldn’t remember how Michael looked like, she knew that she was pretty good-looking.

After all, she had been the school belle in the past.

Even if Michael was a little ugly, her children should still look good.

From what Zen had said, she had fallen in love with Michael at first sight. Everyone knows that falling in love at first sight is just being attracted to their looks so Michael probably wouldn’t look too bad as well.

Thinking about this, Wendy suddenly became curious about how her children and husband looked like.

"Me and Jake look as pretty as you, mommy. When you brought us out last time, everyone would always praise us." Leah was extremely proud when she said that.

They were both beautiful little cuties.

"You use ’pretty’ to describe girls but use ’handsome’ to describe boys, understand?"

Jake corrected Leah.

"Then mommy and I are pretty and daddy and you are handsome, hehehe..." Leah giggled innocently.

Michael was touched that Leah mentioned him.

Everyone always said that daughters are more warm and caring. In the past, Michael only got to experience his son’s coldness. But today, he finally had the chance to feel his daughter’s care.

"Why are you so happy, has Wendy regained her sight?" His grandmother walked in with a walking stick.

"I still can’t see yet, the doctor said that I would regain my sight in a week."

Although Wendy lost her memories about her grandmother as well, she had still been visiting Wendy frequently these days.

Wendy knew that her grandmother must really care about her.

There was someone who accompanied her today, Winnie Quinn.

While helping grandmother in, Winnie overheard Wendy say that she would be able to see in one week and displeasure showed on her face obviously.

Didn’t they say that Wendy lost both he sight and her memories?

Winnie only came to the hospital with their grandmother to mock Wendy.

She didn’t want Wendy to recover at all.

Oppositely, she wished that Wendy would remain blind forever.

If Wendy remained blind, she would be able to matchmake Michael and Yonina.

Seeing that Winnie came as well, Michael’s face also fell.

He walked in front of Wendy to shield her from Winnie’s line of sight before cautiously asking, "Why did you come here, mom?"

Michael knew his mother well and he knew that she had always disliked Wendy.

"What do you mean, can’t I come to the hospital to visit Wendy?" The more Michael protected Wendy, the more she would hate Wendy.

Her son was even willing to go against her just for Wendy.

So how could she not hate Wendy?

Seeing that Michael seemed to not want to see her, Winnie pouted and said, "Michael, can you not see me as an enemy? It’s true that I don’t like Wendy but both you and your grandmother like her. I came to the hospital today to accompany your grandmother to visit her. You can’t take my kindness for granted, otherwise other people might think that we’re enemies."

Michael eyed Winnie’s expression to determine if she was telling the truth.

Previously, Winnie and Wendy has had a huge argument so Michael didn’t believe that Winnie would visit Wendy out of kindness. But Winnie is his mother after all, and she didn’t seem to have any ulterior motives at the moment so he couldn’t just kick her out.

After a moment of silence, Michael said, "Mom, if you’re really here to visit Wendy out of kindness, you’re welcome to be here. But if you really have some ulterior motives, don’t blame me for being harsh."

"Michael, you’re really going overboard, is that really how you think of me?" Winnie was enraged upon hearing Michael’s words.

Grandmother knocked her walking stick on the floor a few times before saying, "Enough, we’re here to visit Wendy. Get out if the both of you continue making so much noise."

Winnie offered to accompany her to the hospital to visit Wendy.

Honestly speaking, even she had suspicions about Winnie’s motives. But they were a family after all and she’s getting older and only wishes for the family to live harmoniously.

What if Winnie was really planning to accept Wendy?

If they don’t even give Winnie the chance to make amends, their relationship would only worsen.

There are so many people in the hospital with Wendy so Winnie probably wouldn’t get the chance to do anything bad either That was why she agreed to bring Winnie over.

"I’m sorry, I was too agitated just now." Michael nodded his head in apology.

Winnie glanced at Wendy disapprovingly before turning to look at Michael, her expression softened albeit a little angry before saying, "Alright, we’re all family after all, what’s there to argue."

Winnie was not foolish, she knew that Wendy was too important to Michael.

Previously when she had purposely targeted Wendy, Michael would protect Wendy every time.

Not only that, Michael had been staying by Wendy’s side these few days to take care of her.

If Winnie continued going against Wendy, it would only cause her relationship with Michael to become stiff.

Michael is her only son so she didn’t want to have a tense relationship with him.

That was why she came to the hospital today to pretend to visit Wendy and pretend to be kind.

"I asked our kitchen staff to brew some soup for Wendy. Drinking this soup is beneficial to one’s eyes so Michael, you should pour a bowl for Wendy to drink before it turns cold, otherwise it won’t be nice anymore," Grandmother said.

Michael took the soup over and poured it out.

Holding onto the bowl, Michael personally fed Wendy, "Wendy, ah."

He placed the spoon beside Wendy’s mouth but Wendy felt a little awkward.

Although she couldn’t see anything, Wendy knew who were inside the ward. And she could also tell that Michael’s mother didn’t like her.

There must have been some conflict between them in the past.

Hence, Wendy stretched out her hand and said, "I’ll do it myself."

Michael didn’t pass the bowl to Wendy but insisted, "You can’t see so it’s not convenient for you, let me feed you."

Wendy didn’t manage to take the bowl over so she could only drink the soup which Michael fed her.

On the other end, Winnie, who was sitting at one side, had a displeased expression on her face.

However, she quickly controlled her expression.

Since she was here to make up with Wendy, she can’t let her son notice her expressions.

Her son was not an idiot after all.
