Chapter 180: That’s Christian’s Car!

She was Michael’s biological grandmother after all, and she had always hoped that Wendy and Michael’s relationship would be like how it was, so of course, she would only say positive things.

From what Wendy could remember, Zen is her best friend.

She should know what happened between her and Michael.

Additionally, since Zen is her friend, she would probably tell the truth.

"You and Mr. Lucas..." Zen sighed quietly.

Wendy couldn’t see but because of that, her hearing became more sensitive.

"What’s wrong, Zen?" Hearing Zen sigh, Wendy had a bad feeling.

From spending all this time with him these days, she could feel that Michael took care of her very well and he seemed like a good husband. But yet she didn’t want her daughter to acknowledge Michael previously.

Also, although Todd didn’t say anything much, she could sort of guess that she didn’t have a good relationship with Michael.

Her return might also be to seek revenge on Michael.

Wendy was very curious about what grudges she had with Michael.

"Wendy, I don’t know much about what happened between you and Michael." Zen didn’t want to tell Wendy too many bad things.

She was still in the midst of recovering after all.

If she really could forget about some of the painful memories.

It might also be a good thing.

"You’re my best friend, I’ll definitely tell you immediately if anything had happened.

If even you don’t know anything, nobody would know." Afterwards, Wendy added, "Now that I’ve lost my memories, only Michael knows what happened."

But from how Michael was treating her, even if they had any grudges between them, he probably wouldn’t tell her the truth.

After thinking about it, Zen said, "I’ll tell you what happened between you and Michael in general. We were in the second year of college and the school organized a forum back then and that was the first time you met Michael. You fell in love with him at first sight and had since then been in love with him. After that, you married him but Michael didn’t love you at first so he didn’t treat you that well. But as time passed, he eventually fell in love with you. That’s why he has always been guilty about not treating you well in the past. He wants to make up to you guys and has indeed been trying his best to do so."

"So what you mean is that I fell in love with Michael at first sight while he fell in love with me as time passed?" Wendy bit her lip as though she was thinking of something before she continued, "Then why didn’t I let my child acknowledge Michael? If that was all, I shouldn’t hate Michael that much."

"Wendy, I really don’t know the details of what happened between you and Michael," Zen said, "Although we used to be best friends, we started contacting each other less after you married Michael. You also didn’t tell me everything like how you used to so I only vaguely knew what happened. But Wendy, you and Michael have gone through a lot to reach this point. As a friend, I can see what Michael has done to you.

So I feel like maybe you can try to get to know Michael again. If you can fall in love with Michael before you recover your memories, then the past wouldn’t be important anymore. If you really don’t feel anything for Michael anymore, then the past wouldn’t be important either."

Wendy understood Zen’s words.

Her grandmother, Zen and even Todd seemed to only pick the positive things to say when they talk about Michael.

On the other hand, they just skim past the negative things simply.

That was what Wendy felt from their words.

She agreed with what Zen had said. No matter what her relationship with Michael will be like in the future, the past wouldn’t be important. But how can a person not want to regain back the eight years of memories they had lost?

Zen petted Wendy’s hand before saying, "Don’t think so much about it first, the important thing right now is your eyes. Once your eyes have recovered, you can slowly regain your memories."

"That’s true." Wendy nodded.

Michael brought in the fruits which he had washed.

He had overheard some parts of the conversation between Zen and Wendy.

Zen and Wendy continued to chat, and the entire afternoon passed in their pleasant conversation.

"Then I’ll head back now and I’ll visit you again tomorrow." Zen stood up and said,

"Do you have anything that you want to eat? I’ll bring it for you tomorrow."

"It’s okay, Grandma ordered someone to bring me food every day, so she’s already prepared what I want to eat. Just come and chat with me."

"Alright, then I’ll take my leave." Zen waved goodbye to Wendy.

After realizing that she couldn’t see anything, Zen put her hand down.

"Be careful on the way home," Wendy said.

"I’ll walk you out," Michael said as he followed Zen out.

When they’ve walked out of the ward, Zen stopped and smiled lightly at Michael before asking, "Is there anything you want to say to me, Mr. Lucas?"

"Thank you for saying those things to Wendy just now." Then he continued, "I meant you not telling her what happened between me and her in the past."

Michael had previously been angry at Zen because of Christian. But Michael is someone who distinguishes kindness and hatred clearly.

This time, Zen had indeed helped Wendy and as Wendy’s husband, he had to thank her.

"I only did it for the sake of Wendy." Zen continued, "Given Wendy’s condition now, I don’t think she should know too many negative things. Honestly, I think that it may be better if Wendy could forget about all those things that made her sad."

That was what Michael personally wished as well.

Wendy didn’t let any of her two children acknowledge Michael so this showed how much hurt she felt from what had happened in the past.

It would be good if she could really forget about those memories and never remember them again.

"If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave first." Zen nodded politely to Michael before turning around to leave.

Honestly, Zen had her ulterior motive as well.

It’s just that even she herself didn’t want to admit that she was starting to have an ulterior motive facing the woman who was once her best friend.

When Michael was questioning her, she didn’t admit that the car accident was related to Christian.

When Wendy was asking her questions, she chose to advise her to give Michael a chance.

On one hand, Zen had indeed thought that Michael was no longer that husband who hated Wendy like he was in the past.

Now Michael should be able to take good care of Wendy and the children.

On the other hand, Zen pathetically realized that she felt happy at the thought of Wendy and Michael’s relationship getting better.

Because as long as Wendy was together with Michael, Christian wouldn’t have a chance.

Zen was shocked that she would have such a thought.

She became so selfish just for this devil-like man, Christian.

Zen couldn’t accept that she was turning out like this but she realized that she couldn’t control her thoughts and emotions.

When Zen had walked out of the entrance of the hospital, her hand was clenching her bag so tightly that her nails were about to scratch the bag.

She took a deep breath and looked up at the sky.

The weather today was quite pleasant, except that the sun was a little too harsh, making her feel as if she couldn’t open her eyes.

Her eyes even started to water.

She raised her hand to wipe the tears welling in her eyes as she smiled and walked towards the carpark. But before she could reach her car, she caught sight of a familiar car.

That’s Christian’s car!
