Chapter 547: Chapter 489 The Plan Has Worked Out Well
Murray nodded. But then, he began to laugh wickedly, which Melissa found very creepy. She then hurried to put on the coat which she had thrown on the bed and went to the next door. Soon, Demetrius, with a resentful look on his face, came out.
"The plan has worked out well?" Demetrius looked sullen, judging from his expression, which had no smile in it at all. But one could tell that he didn’t seem to be angry as well.
Melissa nodded and returned to their room with Demetrius. On their way, Melissa turned around and thanked Demetrius in earnest, "Thank you, Demetrius. If it weren’t for you, I might have been on the news now."
As she spoke, she glanced at Murray subconsciously. Demetrius was left looking at them with mixed feelings.
Demetrius thought, I don’t think, by fair means, I can’t beat Murray at winning Melissa’s heart!
Murray smiled and took a step forward. Unlike before, he, being very friendly, extended his hand and said, "Thank you. If it weren’t for you, Melissa might have been tricked. I don’t want to lose her."
Demetrius looked down at Murray’s hand but did not shake it back. Instead, he snorted and put his hands on his forearms, saying, "Just because you thanked me now doesn’t mean I will be reconciled with you. Yes, I’ve worked with you to set Adela up today. But that does not mean that I will give up on Melissa."
Hearing this, Melissa stopped smiling while looking at Murray in confusion.
What was going on?
Didn’t I make everything clear to Demetrius?
Murray bent his fingertips and slowly put down his hand while looking at Joseph, but he was not angry at all. He wanted to see what Demetrius had to say.
Just as Murray expected, soon, Demetrius spoke, "What happened today doesn’t change anything. I’m still in love with Melissa. Therefore, I will still compete with you, but in a fair way, of course!"
Murray was speechless.
For the first time, Murray didn’t intend to get jealous of his "rival in love". Also, he felt quite amused now.
Murray thought, he is just a child. Forget it, let him be.
In any case, Melissa wouldn’t get in a relationship with him.
That, I know it for sure.
Meanwhile, because of pregnancy, Nina kept vomiting these days. Before, it was just occasional. But now, she was vomiting daily. Therefore, Nina had lost a lot of weight.
Melissa called and asked with concern, "Nina, how are you? Are you still vomiting like crazy?"
Nina was walking out of the bathroom when the call came in. She was vomiting just now. Due to that, she looked rather pale. "I have been feeling nauseous and kept vomiting these days. Whatever that has been eaten, I puked them up right away."
Nina looked in the mirror. Her face, without any makeup on it, was pale and looked much older than before.
Melissa had never experienced all this before. Therefore, she did not understand what it was like. All she could do was to comfort Nina, "Why don’t I cook something for you? You are pregnant now. A tasty and nutritious meal will suit you just fine."
"You don’t have to come over since I know you are very busy. I’m fine. And also, Harley will take care of me." Nina said slowly. She knew that Melissa and Murray were head over heels in love now. Therefore, Nina didn’t want to get in the way.
"Did Harley take good care of you?" Melissa asked, "I haven’t met him lately, and Murray didn’t mention you two either."
Hearing Harley’s name, Nina smiled happily. She nodded. "Yes, Harley treats me very well. He cooks whatever I want to eat at home for me."
During pregnancy, Harley was completely a perfect fiancé.
He took good care of Nina and did whatever Nina asked him to do.
"Now I am relieved. I’m happy to know that Harley is behaving well." Melissa chuckled. She was satisfied that both she and Nina, her best friend, had a nice boyfriend.
Then something flitted through Melissa’s mind. She then asked in a low voice, "How about Harley’s mother? Did she make things difficult for you these days?"
Melissa knew that Carlee did not like Nina. She always gave Nina dirty looks and even showed her dissatisfaction with Nina blatantly.
Due to that, Harley had talked to his mother for times, which turned out to be vain attempts.
Therefore, Harley had to comfort Nina every time she felt wronged by Carlee, and explain to her that Carlee did not mean it.
"Well, what can I say? Nothing has changed essentially. But I’m already used to it." Nina said after thinking for a while. Now that she was pregnant, Carlee tended to treat Nina more nicely. Occasionally she would still make things difficult for Nina, but that was not usually the case.
"Nana, are you awake?" Just as the two girls were chatting, a knock sounded from the door.
It was Carlee.
Nina hurried to cover the receiver in case Carlee heard them talking. "Melissa, let’s talk next time. Carlee is here."
Then Nina hung up the phone.
After slipping on her slippers, Nina hurried to answer the door.
"Ms. Timothy, what’s the matter? Is there anything you want?" Nina asked slowly.
Looking at Nina, who was pale and skinny, Carlee began to worry about the baby in her belly.
She turned around and took the soup from the nanny, saying with a frown on her face, "Have some soup. I had the chef make it for you. I know that you have been vomiting these days. I think the soup could help. I mean, you don’t want to starve the baby for food, right?"
Despite the soup smelling good, since she was pregnant, Nina found it quite greasy.
Therefore, Nina, with a frown on her face, covered her mouth and turned around, trying to suppress the urge to vomit.
"It took the chef hours to make the soup. I think it smells very good. Does it really make you feel nauseous?" Noticing that Nina should react like this, Carlee said, "Really? I’ve seen many pregnant women, but none of them are like you."
Carlee was worried that if Nina kept skipping her meals, the child in her belly would suffer from malnutrition.
Hearing that, Nina, frowning, turned around while trying to suppress the urge to vomit. "Ms. Timothy, I’m sorry, but I don’t think I can drink the soup now. It’s not your fault though. And thank you for your soup."
"Then try to drink a little when you don’t feel like vomiting. Take care of the child in the belly." Carlee frowned. "Don’t waste the soup."
Since Carlee did not like Nina, she thought Nina didn’t like her as well. Therefore, whatever Nina did, Carlee tended to want to take it personally.
